Well the time has come once again to trade in my truck. Went down to the GMC dealer to see whats up with the 2013 modles. Found a nice one, but as useual they kept wanting to raise up my payment. Of coarse they dident want to give me crap for my trade. and i told the salesman the payments had to go down not up. But of corse that fell on depth ears. I am real tired of that crap!!!!!!!!

I told him you got one chance to give me a good deal. And they blew it so

I decided to check out the new dodge ram trucks All I have to say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I picked out a nice 2012 left over Ram Express. The express model is made affordible so it can be customized to the owners likeing, instead of trying to buy a $40,000+ truck like the Rumble bee of wicth isent made anymore. It has the Rumble bee base engine, drive line.

It has the 5.7 HEMI 395 HP and 6 speed auto trans. But what sold me on the truck in the ecomeny feature, it shuts down to a 4 cyclinder wile on the highway to save fuel. This feature has been around on the crysler 300 for some years and has proven itself to work flawlessly.

They made me a deal so good i had to drive it home

2012-Ram-1500-express2.jpg

It has 20" rims and tires. Mine is the better model with all the goodies. The express is custom all painted to the same color on the bumpers. no crome

Twin duel crome tipped exhaust pipes exit the rear

Its one BAD MAMA JAMA! FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a Ram 2500 with the same engine. Didn´t give any better mpg although it shut down on 4 cylindres. When driving with a rotten egg between my foot and the accelerator i couldn´t get it above 6 km pr liter.

To me it sounds more like a gimmic to pass some kind of law regarding fuel economy. Dunno if its true though

The RAM series of trucks is really mature... My only beef with them is the tranmissions but that is more MOPAR in general and NOT specific to the RAM. I hope that it serves you well.

Oh and I think that you should drive up to the chevy dealer in you new truck and wave at the staff... with 1 finger. I will let you pick the finger.

Ha Ha! thats great!! Wicth finger? Them boys at gmc want to much, and they don't have a custom truck available anymore, they used to have a modle called the HT, but droped it some time ago. Maybe ile leave 2 black marks on their lot LOL!

And im getting the same milage as my GMC 4.8 v8 did with a hole lot more horse power on demand. This thing will pass on the hiway like a rocket. it turns 1900 rpm at 80mph

I passed a car the first day i got it, he was doing 45mph in a 55 so not knowing it very well pulled out into the outher lane and tromped it. When it down shifted, it felt like a car hitt me in the rear at 20mph. slammed me back into the seat like i have never felt a truck do so. This thing is dangerous fast.

Wacth this vid

Well its gas not diesel. So can't run that. miles to the gallon in the u.s. is different then europe. In europe you get better fuel milage, but pay more for your fuel. in the u.s we pay less for fuel but get lesser miles to the gallon so we all are getting screwed, so mise well have fun anyway. In the u.s. we like our custom trucks alot, unlike haveing a shoebox on wheels to drive around in, Gets the same as my old truck so im used to it allready.

Here is a neato little device everyone can use and or euro friends as well, as long as your car has OBD2 computer system it will work for you.

http://www.gfchips.com/dodgeram1500.aspx

Search thru the list to see if your car is listed.

If i put this on my new truck i will break the 400 HP mark.

DON'T do that.... not from them. Reason is it is a sales pitch and nothing more. The instructions and claims are the same the dodge and the chevy that I looked up.

I dont trust them. I dont think that it is worth risking voiding a warrenty.

You know something is wrong when previous price $399, now $69

Seriously, all chips are pants.

Only one real way to do this, Remap the ECU.

Either with a mobile solution or by visiting a remapping garage.

The ECU computer is key to taking all the input sensor data from the vehicle & controlling all the output devices via a engine map.

What the ECU works with

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_control_unit

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/59931/watchdog-engine-remapping

http://www.moorfieldmotorservices.co.uk/ecu_remapping.html

What has happened is a bunch of cowboys have taken all the good talk & feedback from real REMAPPING and made a cheap version to fool the ECU input sensors so the vehicle ECU outputs different fuel/air/power settings.

Then the cowboys charge big money for it & then rely on people not wanting the hassle of a refund.

ALL THAT BOX DOES is give the ECU the incorrect input for the AIR temp.

The ECU thinks it's cold than reality & alters the fuel.

BIGGEST WASTE OF $69 never mind $399

Well ok, if this fella is Qualifiyed enough to speak about it. Outher then a fella is just saying that it dosen't work. From the vid there, it is hooked up to the mass air flow sensior.

If that fella drives full throttle all the time then he is not going to see any real difference at all. It adds 60 hp to a 5.7 hemi so they claim

On a 4 cyclinder honda it looks like he has on the vid. probley only adds 10 hp if that ,and thats not real noticable.

might be noticeible on a engine that has some real horspower to begin with, But on a singer sewing machine engine honda maybe not.

I probley would go with a bully dog tuner if i got anything. I just saw this thing, thought ide link it up.

I do beleve i know a little bit about automotive computers being that im a master certifiyed ASE mechanic for 30 years or so.

You know kind of stuff like Baud rate, block learn intgratiors, and quad drivers a class A type of circuits that runns the injectiors in a dc square wave signal in millaseconds of coarse.

but what the good ones are doing is reprogramming the ECU or ECM buy loading a new set of instructions or Perimeters in the ecu. Sence that only hooks up to the mass air flow sensior. then it is a cheap performance trick unlike the real tuners out there.

And from what i have heard reprograming won't void warranty if the correct, or approved tuner is used if it approved buy the auto mfger it is used on. So check with your cars mfger to see what is approved for it, some are and some arnt.

But on my new truck i can get 5-7 hp just buy installing a fresh air intake air cleaner, and then install a Magnaflow or flowmaster cat back exhaust system and that would break the 420 hp mark and not need to retune the ecu at all.

Athlon,

I am not ASE certified... I am just a shade tree mechanic that has been working on cars ever since my father made me (one of the best things that man ever did for me BTW). 20 years or so... I am sure that does not hold a candle to your experiance.

But my parents also instilled another good thing in me... how to spot a scam and that device, sir, is a scam.

Point one - as Vii correctly pointed out

You know something is wrong when previous price $399, now $69

seriously dude the only things that start that expensive and sell that cheap are A. old cell phones B. Stolen items C. False and or misleading claims about (fill in the blank).

Since we are not talking about A OR B I am left with C as the most logical choice.

Point two - My original point... ANY vehicle that you put in on that web site it will claim the SAME performance increases for your new truck and my old car (I drive a 99 Saturn SL1). It also makes that claim for these cars too...

and every other car I that I try...

Athon, I respect you and what you can do is amazing all I am saying brother is BUYER BEWARE!

Peace

Ordered a tonnueau cover for it and a cold air kitt, should be here for xmass. And got my graffics kitt as well, hood spears and bed stripes. Not only a cool looking truck, it will be able to back it up with horspower.
