Hey guys, I am gonna work on a prject in NM - Rio Rancho between 5/21 and 5/25. i ve never been there. if there is any Spartan in the area, let me know.. it would be a great chance to catch up ! I am not kidding.. this is the most fucking frustrating experience ever!!! I mean, i got in the mood.. I wanna give a shot to this crappy Mod.. and you know what.. ok.. FIRST OF ALL, try to get to play, but Surprise.. all of the files have to be downloaded and "updated"... Ok, so, sorta smiling, 10 minutes after I can start the game. Then find the server whe the other Sparta guys are.. of coourse is full.. Lucky enough, 5 minutes after I get in, just to discover anyway that all of the known players are literally on the other side of the map where I spwaned.. As we know, there are no vehicles.. so someone kindly says.. well if you start running now, it will take about one hour to reach us.. YEAH RIGHT !! So, I start walking toward the closest town to try to scavenge something, being mine a new charachter... 10 minutes running in the middle of nowhere... Finally after thos 10 minutes, i see a couple of houses at the horizon, they could possibly have something to cannibalize.. I get there.. and guess what.. SERVER CRASHES !!!!!!!! So, while I am fucking swearing in Italian, mic closed so i don t annoy the other guys.. I try to rejoin another server. Actually I tried to rejoin 5 different servers.. Keep in mind that the joining process is not exactly "quick", so it takes 2 or 3 or more minutes to get you finally on the field. All of this to discover that I was joining servers NIGHT TIME !! Fucking pitch black!!! but of course you are the most freaking unfortunate human being in the universe, so as a "survivor" u barely have flares (totally useless - just good to say "hey I am here, shoot me !!") and a gun... Can t see shit, so Abort and connect somewhere else, just to discover was still night.. repeat this procedure for 5 times... Then someone said, "possibly you should join a different time zone, otherwhise now on the US server is getting dark"... WTF ???????????? I forgot to say i was trying to play this fucking game at 8pm EST... So, at the 6th pitch black server.. I try to give it a shot.. I thought "well.. if they decided to make it like this, maybe is playable somewhat".. and i tried other 5 minutes of this martiry.. I was getting close to some house.. but can you believe.. i was not even able to see 1 mtr away of my nose?? I mean, you do remmeber how freaking Dark is Arma at night, with no night goggles, right ?? Then I was looking around.. and I noticed that.. not only is freaking dark.. but is also fucking CLOUDY !!!! So there is not even hope to have Moon or a clear sky to gain some visibility!!! No.. this is a fucking situation in which: 1 - You are the most unfortunate survivor 2 - You will fight vs squirrel-fast Zombies 3 - Is so freaking dark that you will be dead before you even think you saw something.... 4 - .. and hey, this is set "realistic", so when at my home in Florida gets dark, in the Server gets dark. I shoudl send an email to my Boss and ask a day off, because it would be the only way to play this fucking game I guess.. Bottom line... I was so naive I thoought I could play Arma, for about 10 minutes of self satisfaction... Real life is that after 35 minutes of frustration i almost threw my PC out the window... And I am writing this post just to vent out my HATE.... So, do you wanna be my friend.. please don t talk to me about Arma Zombie Shit.... Ever !!!

Thank you for the heads up Zeno.. Sorry of the accident you went thru, but I know your pain... Do you remember I had a 1.5TB HDD failing twice in a row within 1 month? Between reinstall and backups and swapping I was simply going nuts!!!! I had a RAID 0 config on 2 standard 250GB WDs for 1 yr and a half, I never had a problem. It s weird that that Revo is suffering this issue. However I wonder if is the kind of controller they have on the board. If the controller fails some sync the RAID 0 fails. I do believe better in the single SATA SSD, holding the opportunity to set 2 in RAID thru the BIOS Raid config.

Well, besides having fast boot response, which i don t even care that much because actually with the SSD as OS it boots in about 20 seconds, is to have important tasks working when you don t have to take care of your system. To me, having the sleep mode working is important because: 1 - it wakes up and runs the Antivir full scan at night, then go back to sleep 2 - it wakes up and runs the automatic backup to the network server at night, then go back to sleep I was quite anooyed to not being able to run those services.

I want to share this, because you will not find this info anywhere else. I was extremely lucky a PC Guru on SeverForums shared with me. My problem was suddenly with no explanation my PC refused to go to sleep. Running a Powercfg -energy report and checking Powercfg -lastwake report there was a not identified issue with the USB\Root_USB\ which was reclaming power and there was no explanation for what. This guy on SevenForums explained me that USB Hosts may sometimes get stuck on a wrong power state, preventing your PC from going to sleep. Here is the solution, make treasure of it: reset the USB ports to a nominal power state Shut down and turn off the computer. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop). "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English)) Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard, and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected. Reboot PC My issue was immediately solved and now my PC goes to sleep like a baby...

Yeah.. cleaning up all of my rifles!!! i have all my guys at Max Lvl, so i will be ready... only problem I have probably to work till about 4pm Saturday.. That s an interesting question. What is the max res on your monitor? Keep in mind that besides what you need today, this kind of electronics has no residual value, meaning if you buy today something just shy of 200 bucks, when you possibly will like to improve your monitor one day, the re-selling value of that card will be crap... so you are basically throwing out the window something like 200 bucks. If as a comparison, you need to spend 240 bucks and be sure that card will stay with you for a decent amount of time, then your investment makes sense. The 2GB on board can help for higher resolutions, but the GPU architecture itself will probably provide better performances anyway. It would have been different if you were going to buy a budget card around barely 100 bucks, but choosing between 6870 or 6950 if you have the badget, i would say 6950.

Actually you have to test it and really see how it works. I had for 1,5 yr a 37" Westinghouse 1920*1080 and i guess the refresh rate was about 6ms. I used mostly because at that time my PC station was also my HDTV. That 37" had a 60Htz refresh, so the 120 would be better. However I had some ghosting here and there. Actually was not a major issue. The only game where that was really annoying was FarCry 2, all of the other games were playable very well. However, after that i decided to downsize at 27" 1920*1200 at 2ms. Main reason was not the monitor performance but the size itself. For flight sim and racing games it was beautiful having the 37", but all of the other games, mostly shooters were putting a strain to my neck. With that big size, you really have to move your head to see all of the field of view. Furthermore although you enhance your "simulation", on FPS other players dont have to be so "real". They just look at monitors in front of their face and can see the full field of view at once (23" up to 27"), therefore their time of reaction is higher. Besides the fact a Big screen may seem "badass" at the first look, on the long run it really depends what do you use it for. I am super happy now with my 27" and i would not go any larger.

I am not stron in AMD CPUs, but I d like to give you a couple of general suggestions: 1 - Be sure you try to get the most of Videocard power you can get within budget - This allows you to stay on top of incoming games. 2 - Choose a CPU that make sense for your budget and what you use it for and do not create a bottleneck with GPU performances. 3 - don t be cheap on the Motherboard. Be sure it has last gen features such us USB 3 and SATA 3 - be sure about future compatibility if you want one day to put on a larger CPU In my experience, with an i7 920, quad-core (8 threads), a good quad-core last gen CPU is more than enough to handle your gaming experience and general pleasure use of a machine. If you are a professional in engineering or photo/video editing, you might need more cores, otherwise i don t see any specific reason to go to 6 or 8 cores at the momemnt. However it seems there is not much of a difference between the two, besides the power profile. I would choose the newest architecture, paying attention to not be fooled by some Marketing trick (such as a new name same old shit). Diiference in price between the 2 quad-cores is within 50 bucks, so is not really a "game changer". I would spend some extra money on Videocard, instead of 6870 I would go 6950 2GB, such as: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102987 You might be lucky to get a moddable model to 6970 (as I did, my model is different and discontinued, but it was moddable and is now an full effective 6970). Price is again within 50 bucks range, but the 69xx series is better than the 68xx. You should probably still be in budget, respecting your AMD preference.

The default sound is because your USB is losing connection. i don t think is the mouse because yousaid is doing it with 2 mice, then just try a different USB port.. I hope your USB Host controller is not failing out of the blue

Well.. I really hope theycan do their best with animations for this game. All of the environment is beautiful, possibly vehicles will have some decent phisics, but really Animation is still weird. The way soldiers go from running to walk is unnatural, their behaviour is better than Arma2 but still.. not on par with other games. So far we saw characters with rifles.. If they are having a hand gun and still run like runners at the olimpics.. I just wanna scream !!! I have been trying to play Arma 2 with that Zombie crap mod... man.. is just so unplayable.. just so unnatural.. I actually don t give a crap anymore if they make an incredible landscape and environment.. If they don t fix an=imations and collisions in Arma 3, that game is just gonna be pure garbage.. good just to enhance your frustration as a player. We didn t see anything yet about "indoor" collisions. I just want to remind you how horrible is being inside a house and get stuck at the doors. We continue to see large environments, something at Arma in general has always been pretty decent. Arma get shitty when it gets in fast CQC. The way AI possibly "warps" away from you.... when you engage within 25 mtrs, it becomes a farce. I cannot touch Arma 2 anymore without getting frustrated and vomit... Arma 3 better giving some serious candy to players... because the attempt to be a "simulator" has to be joined by real movement and behavior.. if they can t do that is just a major failure

I was wondering if a second 128GB to create a RAID 0 array should be exact same brand i already have, or i could "mix" with a different brand. Usually the rule is to have 2 identical drives. My Samsung 830 is obviously a quite expensive one, and a "twin" goes out at about $190, while an OCZ 128GB is barely over 120 bucks and goes at 99 after rebate... A RAID 0 256GB on SSD would be Very Good.. plenty of room for games and just nasty fast...

Well, I do not trust "reviewers" in full. First of all i do believe everything is business.. many of them get the card to be "reviewed" as test hardware. Some of them get sponsored by manufacturers... I still have to see reviewes crucifying reall issues on hardware. If there is something wrong, they will tell you "half truth" but they will rarely kill a product. They would end their glorifying "reviewers" career in a snap. With that said, i do believe in our word as "Friends on line". If I ask your experience hereon the Forum, i possibly expect an unbiased answer.. or if is biased, lol.. just let me know :0 it s all good Bottom line, i don t expect we are lieing to each other I do believe there are differences in architecture and CPU performances going above and beyond the pure and simple Speed and PCI Bus performances (which however belongs to the MB model you use). I am pretty sure if i take my 6970 from my i7 920 and i put it for a test on my Core2Duo E6850 downstairs, if I benchmark Batman Arkham City (just to make a name) at the same top quality settings I run it on the i7... I am pretty sure is not gonna give me the same FPS. Do you agree on this? If you do, that s it. No more no less. I don t need a computer engineer to explain me why, because possibly I don teven fully care. I just know "It is". So, as I said, besides review more or less qualified, you are getting an excellent videocard on a quite old machine. Sure your machine works and probably works very well. My E6850 downstairs works flawlessy. A great card on an old machine sounds to me as "racing tires" on a car able to make possibly 90 - 100 mph. You are not racing at that speed, you are cruising ;)

My car has the Paddle-Shifter and is pretty fun if you are in the mood of sporty Something i noticed tho, sometimes the onboard computer doesn t allow me for "heavy" down-shift, like to say is preserving the engine to possibly get in the red zone. I guess i noticed that a couiple of times. Besides that, I think that Cee'd is extremely well designed. About the "mom sedan" i just guess the right trim is gonnamake it quite sporty A peppy 1.6 liter engine, on limited weight car should be very responsive ;)
