NoScream~SPARTA~
If your budget can stretch to this, it will be a big plus. Twice the speed of an equivalent drive HDD on SATA II 3.0Gb/s The motherboard you have chosen has 6.0Gb/s SATA interface & this drive would preform 4x faster than a 'Western Digital Caviar Black' or even a VelociRaptor drive is beaten by 2X on SATA 3.0Gb/s port. Rooster90
The i5 2500K is a solid choice. However... I simply can't stress enough that the i7 2600K is absolutely worth it's price as well. If there's anything you should blow the big bucks on, its your CPU and GPU. Some good cases: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233 (Or any of the HAF series) GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127594 (really can't go wrong on this one. Ask noobiachi) RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231352 (for this price, definitely a snag) EDIT: Not all "top of the line" stuff, but it's all current and all have very good price/performance ratios. NoScream~SPARTA~
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231352 (for this price, definitely a snag) EDIT: Not all "top of the line" stuff, but it's all current and all have very good price/performance ratios. Seriously? 4Gb for $99 when I can recommend 24Gb DDR3 for less than $200, somewhere things are going wrong.... This was mentioned in two other threads, Memory prices are so different, Manufacturers charging crazy differentials with no reason. 4GB is 4GB & 24GB is 24GB triple channel I know it's not dual channel but.... I'm going crazy, paying $99 for 4GB $179.99 http://www.centralcomputers.com/commerce/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=80318 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145350&Tpk=Corsair%20Vengeance%2024GB 24GB MEMORY thread http://www.legionofspartans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8814
Rooster90
It's 6 GB. No need to be an dick about it, I don't have time to read every single thread and post here. On top of that, Halil is asking for current, but AFFORDABLE options. I'm not saying those 24 GB deals aren't good, but A. Nobody needs to spend that much on RAM and B. Nobody will ever need that much RAM for a very long time. 6 GB is more than enough to run anything up and coming this fall. Hell, most people would be perfectly fine with 4. I run 8, but only because there was a sale on it. Edited August 28, 2011 by Rooster90
EL_n00biachi
Im not too sure how smart buying different parts each month is.....the rate that prices go up and down in the computer industry is pretty erratic. As an example, buying parts each month ends you up at a total of a 1000$,saving the money and buying every part you need in a few months might end up at 750bucks for the same parts.....or a 1000 bucks for newer tech. My advice...for what its worth: look at the part you're buying and how much it costs then save the money and dont buy it yet,do that every month and then see what you can buy when you have saved all the money for each part. That gtx 560 is awesome, but lets say the video-card is due for November...the GTX 660 or whatever is out for the same price........or lets turn it around you buy the GTX560 next month...by the time you buy your last part the money you spent on the 560 could have been spent on the GTX "xxx". EL_n00biachi
I just checked the price's of that motherboard,it went down 20 to 25 % during the last 3 months......that set of ram went from 70 euro june 1 to 39,99 today...whats that 40ish %....save the money! The world of lost souls........ 1-- I ain't being a dick about anything, you posted a 6Gb 3 DIMM pack for a dual channel 2 DIMM/4 DIMM mother board that Halli quoted. 2-- 24GB is not need by you and I will point that out in the future when others are paying top dollar for 12GB / 16GB / 24GB kits. In some worlds 12/24 GB is not needed but that's the same philosophy as 2 core/ 4 core/ 6 core CPU, who needs it, answer, users with future vision on applications & use of systems. How can you not see that 12/24GB of RAM @ a great price is not only a steal but useful for users that do more than surf the web & play a game in 1024x768? Seriously Rooster, I'm pointing out that the 6Gb pack you linked is totally over priced. I personally run 12GB & use most of it when video processing & photoshop editing. (and I paid less than $99) Also I lately segmented 6GB of RAM as a RAMDISK not useful ? RamDisk and RamDisk Plus® http://www.superspeed.com/desktop/ramdisk.php RamDisk® http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk RAMDISK Made from some not needed RAM (MEMORY) Twice as fast than a $11,000 SSD on PCIe http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=184854 PERFORMANCE RAMDISK made from DDR3 RAM C: SSD H: HDD Like I said, you don't need it that's all good, but I know others will need it, just like me they see the advantage, it's not all about playing a game or thinking about today. Donziboy2
I really don't see anything bad with your build Halli. Im not a fan of Corsair thou and that ram screams "I wont work less you Tweak Me". My recommendation G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM Save up your money and buy it all when you have the cash or use a CC. Buying one piece at a time makes RMA a pain, after 30 days if you havent tested something to see if it works you have to go thru manufacturer instead of newegg. PANiC
i dont want to get shouted at here but is there anything wrong with the 8gb RAM that Halli linked to in the OP ($49)? 24gb would be nice and sweet but by the time a game machine needs that, then we will be on windows 10 and DDR6 i'd also put some dollar towards an SSD

Halli~SPARTA~
No worries Ram will be a secondary cost and I have time to see which I will need. As for monthly purchases yeah I see your point and will figure that one out when the pocket allows.
Rooster90
I too can recommend this RAM... I installed it on a system build and the guys kid stopped playing his Xbox. He likes the computer better. I second this as well. I use the same RAM, just the 1333 clocked instead of 1600. Got it for about 20 bucks cheaper than this, but thats still a really good price for that RAM. Highly recommended. Would've gotten this for sure if they were that price at the time of my purchase (They were around 120 4-5 months ago)

NoScream~SPARTA~
Nice one Halli, hope the 2600K is everything you need. I don't have Sandybridge but there are many that swear by them & know how to clk them. I'm still on my X58 chipset system built in 2009 & it will be good for another 1 - 2 years The only thing I'm going to do is buy 24GB of RAM @ $240 !!! http://www.dabs.com/products/corsair-memory-24gb--6-x-4gb--vengeance-1600mhz-ddr3-dimm-240-pin-cl9-7J0J.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=product+search&utm_content=Q200
