  1. I think the only thing stopping me from buying Oblivion and getting this mod is that it's all in German. Looks great otherwise. I'm probably gonna buy Oblivion at some point any way so I can get pumped for SKYRIM!
  2. Yes, fair enough. I apologize as well for joining in on the ATI hatewagon. XD Haji said it well, the point of the post was to tell our remaining ATI users that the latest drivers have some great improvements, which is always a good thing. Even if it's a bit overdue, haha. Such is life in the gaming world.
  3. I don't think the beef is with ATI's performance. We all know the hardware is very comparable to Nvidia. But we shouldn't have to wait more than a few days for a new driver on a big release (let alone a month). The reason I was converted to Nvidia over ATI isn't because their cards performed significantly better or have a better price. The potential is there for both cards. But ATI's driver issues are undeniable. I'd rather pay the extra money for day 1 performance on new software, not day 30. I mean seriously, how long has Dirt 2 been out? A year? And they JUST NOW release a driver that improves performance for the game? That's unacceptable.
  4. Very interesting article/speech indeed. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/06/10/gates-blasts-nato-questions-future-alliance/ If you're biased against Fox News, here's CNN's much smaller article that probably didn't even get noticed: http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/06/10/gates.nato/index.html?hpt=hp_t2
  5. TemplarGFX's mods made DR playable, challenging, and cool. If they would've released some semblance of an SDK... we would've had a much different game. But other than that, yes, DR was garbage. There's plenty of my favorite franchises out there that haven't been ruined. CoH is still going strong with talks of a sequel in the future, Dawn of War 2 was excellent. Different and smaller scale than the original, but a lot more interesting gameplay than unit spam. Left 4 Dead only got better, as did Portal. Civilization 5, despite it's rocky launch and buggy online, is by far my favorite. There's no way I can go back to a non-hex grid with stackable units. No way. Red Orchestra 2 looks to up the ante in the WW2 realism department, while making an overall better game than the first. But I digress. Yes, some big franchises have fallen by the wayside (CoD, GR, OFP), but that doesn't mean all will follow suit. And it's silly to think that every sequel that comes out will be some horrible butchering of a game. Leave that for those that live/dwell in the past.
  6. Dragon Rising wasn't a MoH/CoD clone at all. It was no ArmA, but it was far from CoD. What killed it was no dedicated servers and total lack of developer support post-launch. It could've been an alright game, there was a great modding/scripting community that came out of it. Red River on the other hand... yeah, go ahead and bash that as much as you want, lol.
  7. GAMEPLAY VIDEO: (filmed off screen) Poor quality, but you get the jist of it. Looks pretty much the same as ArmA 2, with better graphics, physics, and customizable weapons. Looking forward to it. Actual gameplay starts around 2:30.
  8. Na, BiS will never turn commercial. There's no big name publisher forcing them to do anything different. And by "no reason" I mean, there's still zero evidence suggesting anything will be going that direction since it's announcement. They may have a few brand new/experimental designs in the game (such as stealth choppers), but nothing really out of the ordinary has been shown or announced.
  9. lol wut? I hope you're joking. That's an Israeli Merkava (or a tank closely resembling it's design). You guys are so paranoid about ARMA 3 being a repeat of GRAW, and for no reason really.
  10. Add ArmA 3 to the list of things from E3. Can you say PHYSICS!!!??? Screens look fantastic. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/07/e3-2011-arma-3-screenshots-deployed/ Also, ArmA 3 teaser, but a bit of a let down. No in-game footage, just live action. Still exciting though! http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/07/e3-2011-arma-3-trailer-teases-us-with-real-life-men/ Also, for you World of Tanks gamers out there, World of Warplanes has officially been announced. No screens or vids as of yet though.
  11. Gonna be sweeeeeeet! Skyrim and BF3 will dominate my fall and winter for sure. Possibly Dark Souls and Darksiders 2 as well. Also, if you watch the BF3 multiplayer teaser, you will notice a star next to the player name at the top of the squad list in the bottom left corner of the screen. Squad leaders coming back...? BF3 MP Teaser: Dark Souls: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2011-dark-souls/714546 Darksiders 2:
  12. You'd be wise to stick with Nvidia/Intel. I was an ATI/AMD guy for about 6 years. And for 6 years I was constantly raped in the bunghole. Bad and/or late drivers, underperformance, etc. Really lost interest in those brands fast. You get what you pay for with Intel/Nvidia. Just bought a new computer a couple months ago and converted to the Intel i7 2600K and Nvidia GTX 560 Ti, and I am VERY satisfied. Best of luck to you!
  13. I would play this game if it wasn't so damn boring in the early stages. It seems like the only way to really get enjoyment out of EVE is sticking to it for about 2-3 years before you can actually do anything cool/feel like you have power/influence. I've done the free trial twice for this game and it is just... ugh. Worst new player experience in just about any MMO. It lives up to the nickname "Microsoft Excel: Online!". XD That, and I just don't have the time.
  14. It is, surprisingly. The voices dont really match the characters and the graphics looked like they were filmed on low/medium, but the writing and voice acting is really good, as is the film work. Worth it. EDIT: The first two films, my gfx comment applies. This third film is A LOT better looking.
  15. Ah, good ol' land nav. Loved it in Boy Scouts, loved it even more when I became a Cav Scout. If you can't navigate or properly operate a radio, you're worthless as a Scout. That "soldiers learn from failure" quote made me chuckle. It's still like that today. They set you up for failure all the time in Basic/AIT.
  16. He doesn't look that futuristic... he just has multicam, a ghillie suit, and some gen4 NVG's. All of which are fairly standard for any Pathfinder-trained snipers in the US Army. I'm not seeing anything indicating a "future-soldier" feel, at least not anything close to what was in the GRAW series.
  17. Saw that in this year's PC Builder's Bible. Pretty sweet case, but way too expensive.
  18. An indication... of what? Don't really understand what you're getting at.

  20. Very nice trailer. Never been a fan of the Lara Croft games though. Plus no gameplay footage makes me sad. I don't think this one will go as viral as the Dead Island teaser did. Darksiders 2 is gonna be awesome though, loved the first game. http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/06/03/darksiders-ii-announcement-trailer?objectid=14336768
  21. Well, SUPPOSEDLY it's not going to drain resources. Not like Aero does. The one good thing that Microsoft is boasting is that Win8 uses very few system resources, and thats why they think they'll be able to port it over to so many devices. We'll see.
  22. Idea = good. Execution with Microsoft behind the wheel however... iffy. I like the idea of an end-all OS for all devices, but PC Gamer put it well that this is a bit of a pipedream. They mentioned Google having trouble unifying Android devices, and they don't even have legacy devices to worry about. If they pull it off, hats off to Microsoft. But I'm not holding my breath over it. Like peter said, the new interface is just a shell. They old windows file system we've come to know is still running in the background. It's just a new way to represent the same data, nothing that special.
  23. If you own Half Life 1, wait for this mod. It's nearly finished and it looks to be one of the scariest games ever made. Both SP and Coop, different stories. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cry-of-Fear-mod/111800915551808 http://www.moddb.com/mods/cry-of-fear/videos/moty-2010
  24. Current games: -ArmA2 (mostly the editor) -World of Tanks -Company of Heroes/Dawn of War 2: Retribution Games that I keep coming back to play: -BF:BC2 (+ Vietnam) -L4D2 Games that I really should get around to finishing: -World in Conflict -Total War: Shogun 2 Havent been on as much as I usually am lately. Been busy moving. Recorded music for 9 hours yesterday and edited/mixed for another 5. XD
  25. The first MW (CoD4) wasn't so bad. I'd call it the last good CoD. Dedicated servers, free SDK for mappers and modders, a great single player campaign. Everything you came to expect from a CoD game (it was still primarily a PC game, I had been playing since the first). From that point on though, they saw how popular it was on consoles and decided to not do anything new or interesting with the series. Same rehashed SP campaigns, similar (and crappy) maps, stupid weapons, zombies, ugh, each release brought more garbage to the mix and did absolutely nothing new or good. CoD4 ushered in a (then) newly updated engine with graphics the likes of which hadn't been seen at such great performances. Now they all use that very same engine FOUR YEARS LATER. Granted, Valve has been milking the Source engine for a lot longer, but they designed it that way and each update to it brings significant change. CoD is still stuck in 2007 era graphics, it's really quite sad to see.
