I actually LOVE your idea. I would love to get back in some good Ol' ARMA action, with no stupid zombies around... The original AI already make it for enough "zombie-like" action Too bad you catch me on bad timing. This weekend I will not be around my PC that much at all. Sporadically.... If I have some spare time I will check online and see if you are around:) With that said, it would be nice to have mor of this in the future.....

This would somewhat make me happier. Nice article but there are a couple of dark sides not explored yet: My "hope" side is hoping they still wanna put some work on AI. Product is not final and i would not judge that right now, but i have a feeling that is not a major priority. The other thing is: No one discussed so far how the Multiplayer experience is gonna be. If AI is sorta stupid or just say is the same in A2, we know that besides the super-powers they have, such as using an iron sight at 600 mtrs surgically or thermal view to see you thru grass, bushes and so forth, AI is not really competitive. On the other side multiplayer most of the times sucks due to warping and weird lagging. So, where this game will stand bottom line? So far great compliments to the environlemt... but what about what the game will deliver as experience? Other titles out there have a clear character: BF3 is a multiplayer shooter and does it well CoD is a multiplayer shooter and does it well Arma2 is an open environment to Kill Zombies and doesn t even do it so well.... I will biy this game, no doubt, but i really don t know what I am expecting out of that..

Well, maybe i missed something, but i guess it s quite early to gett all excited about this. Do they even discussed a release date? I ve not been closely following, but i don t recall there was anything of "imminent" coming out. There is plenty of time to see what we wanna do. On the other side you cannot always believe to everything you read: EASY TO USE MISSION EDITOR??? I don t know what they have been able to create for Arma3, but i don t think is that much different from the one in Arma2, which is freaking far away from being easy....

I do apologize, I am not gonna pledge a dime for this. And my avversity is not specifically for this game or the Dev. I don t even take in exam how serious the Dev can be. Unfortunately i got to the conclusion that the entire Kickstarter affair is close to a scam than anythng else. when we are talking about Gaming Industry, believing that anything can come out of a Kickstarter project is simply Naive. I do appreciate your good heart guys, i love the fact you are good ppl and you "believe" .. unfortunately I am a dirty Italian, raised among the mistification and the lies, not believing anymore that the world is rounded, actually My cinism reached epic levels, therefore i have no trust whatsoever in people whose last resource to do something is begging online for money. Let' put together some "Myth" concepts and let's what are they. 1 - "No risk, if they dont get funded your money is not chashed", true, however you shoould look a bit further of your nose and understand that if they GET funded there is no contract or liability they will deliver ANYTHING. They can disappear tomorrow with200, 300, 400 whatever hundred thousand dollars. Is not the 15 bucks I put in that concerns me, is the offense to my intelligence that bothers me. 2 - Whatever goal they set. Not directly related to this project, but we can take this as just an example. If they make it, actually they are at 30k with about 450 backers. Possibly to get up to 450k they would end up say, 2500 backers. Ok, i wanna give it big 5000 backers. Perfect. So that means there are 5000 people who believe in this. This is a ridicoulous Drop in the Ocean. You do understand that a succesful game has to sell Hundreds of Thoousands of copies? Millions of copies... then you can call that business ... You get 5000 "believers", you produce your game and sell it to other 10.000 buyers, your business is a FAILURE. 3 - Why their business would be an epic failure also in case they produce the game? because you are not able to keep a Software house alive with a product that will sell few tens of thousands copies... Why so few copies?? because it is made for a minority! Gamers like US, who like the "realism" in a game are a small minority. They said "this game comes with all the godiess out of the box, no crap such as Unlocks and XP points" I LOVE IT!!! Me and other 5000 people, the other 3 billions gamers are going nuts with BF3, CoD, Bad company and whatever else... Don t you think that should concern a producer? 4 - Why a Dev needs to get into Kickstart to have this thing rolling? can t find any Investor like in the every day Business "the Real Business" that can believe in his idea and funded, like everyone else would do ?? Hmm.. probably go back and read point 3... There would be several other reasoons to put together.. i am just getting bored writing this one, because I know I am hurting your feelings and because most probably many of you already gave up reading this shit after the 10th line... However, i love you all guys, I am proud to be your friend because you have a big heart, i just freaking hate bullshits like Kickstarter that take advantage of good-hearted people

MH6 posted recently a very interesting article related to RAD Drives performances. Definetely outstanding of course. now you have 24gb, leave about 6 for System needs and you may create a RAM Drive of 18gb. It can hoste either 2 of the top line games you play the most, or the full Office suite and other working apps such as Photoshop and similar.. is up to you To give you a rough idea, an SSD transfer rate is about 550MB/sec, a RAM disc transfer rate is about 5GB/sec ;)

I know my man.. that is the curse of many ppl I know One of the other reasons why I am against Apple policies is the fact that Apple is a CLOSED unique environment. With Apple, you buy their product, which is ONE only product - you have 1 phone, 1 Pad, 1 pod - and whatever you get with it, Apps or accessories, will be unique to your purchase. Therefore a Customer get sucked in in their own black hole forever. Android (and Microsoft for PCs) is an OPEN environment. You get all of the Apps you want, but then you are sick and tired of your phone or tablet and you want to upgrade to a new one, choosing among the thousands of offers you can find on the market, then you retain all of your purchases ad you just move them to the new device. When people says Steve Jobs was a genius, I do agree. He was a genius, creating a business model that is probably the best one ever, for the Owner - not the Customer. But people Loves Apple, so they Deserve it ;)

I actually like your config a lot. I have to say that the RAM Disk solution is extremely interesting and it would fully justify that choice to go for 32GB straight. In my real life experience i never maximize my 6GB RAM config. If i could let the machine at 6GB RAM and build a 26GB RAM Disk.. man.. you have room for 2 major games (average 10GB each) and full Office suite and some extra super fast crap !!! I would not even go for the super fast RAM I have to be honest. The performance is so excellent with the 1333 bandwith that I am not sure you would "see" any difference in the real world with the high end RAM, other than a more expensive buy. What we see in this presentation is a great job from the ASUS x79 chipset on that board, but, bottom line, wouldn t be expectable that the RAM Disk performance would be very similar on any other x79 chipset? For what it matters, theoretically I should be able to have an excellent performance on my old x58 chipset as well, so far the MoBo supports a large amount of RAM. When you start to have a transfer rate of around 5GB per second, differences in the range of few hundreds are really negligeble. I think this set up is going to be excellent, an investment of about 1800 bucks is not even that bad. you might be able to re-sell your old Mobo, CPU and ram in a cheap set to someone else for 2-300 bucks, bringing your real expense to a very reasonable 1500 average... to me is a major GREEN LIGHTS my man.. GO FOR IT !

Very nice buy AJ, congrats! About the other failing laptop, problem is either RAM failing or MB failing. Probably it needs a MB replacement, but starting buying a RAM and see if that works is cheaper. If it doesnt, MB replacement will do the trick

Thx guys, yeah i m using it right now and i have to say i m really satisfied. I was watching a movie on the flight coming back and paired with my nice bt stereo headset it was a very nice experience. I caught the guy sitting on my side (using his iPad) staring at it more than once.... :-)

Lol, All of this is something fun anyway. We are tech guys, and we have solid believes, Some are "more solid" than others, but is an interesting discussion. However, it is just fun for what it is and will not drive to any conclusion. There is "no better product" based on a forum discussion. There is the product that is better "for you". With that said, all of this is like to say: AMD vs Nvida AMD vs Intel Steam vs the rest of the world ... and you can continue if you like. Each one has a different opinion and is fun to read our comments I am actually not loyal to anyone. I like to look around and try to find the best price/performance for what i want. then manufacturer is a secondary aspect because more or less they are all there with similar products. One day AMD is a winner, one day Nvidia is a winner, one day Intel is awinner and so forth. This is great because keeps competition rolling and bottom line it means better prices for me ;)

I still believe AMD is producing some very respectable CPUs at very effordable prices. I think it s all a matter of what you have to do with it. I built a phenomenal HTPC based on a cheap AMD dualcore and I love it. Looking at benchmarks it seems AMD has it very straight when it comes on Media, being very competitive. When it comes on games it s still behind tho. This is perfectly fine to me. gaming is not the only reasn PCs are out there. Raw performances are not always the only reason why you bulid a mmachine. I actually bought a car with a turbo engine and 274hp, however I am deeply in love with the Smart car or the Fiat 500. I had the Smart car for about 1 year when i was in Italy and I loved that car, I had 2 Fiat 500 in my family, but I am talking about the original one, 1966, and those were outstanding too. It depends what you have to do with them AMD will always be a viable counterpart when it comes to whatever is not gaming, at least at this moment

Hey guys, so.. this week i got to spend a few days in New mexico for a project. Other than working and go back to the hotel, it was quite boring. I didn t even had a laptop, better I have one which is the corporate one, not only is a piece of crap but also i have no rights on it = "I have no laptop" I ve never been a laptop fan, I don t use them enough. On the other side i ve been fascinated by tablets recently. i think they are a decent laptop replacement if you don t do anything "heavy" and you are in need for a full laptop. So, one afternoon, back from office I discovered right behind the corner of my hotel there was Bestbuy !! Hmmm.. you got me bored, you give me Bestbuy at almost walking distance this means I am gonna make some damage !! So I walked in and started looking on tablets.. there were a few but my attention was immdiately captured by 2 major models: 1 - Samsung new Tab 2 - ASUS Transformer tf300 I have been tossing the 2 up and down literally for good 15 - 20 minutes. Looking at particulars, at specs, at price (of course), at feeling... but buttom line at responsiveness and snappyness. It was tough, these 2 models are pretty much similar. However the Transformer came out a winner on my table. Once again i think it all comes down at what you wanna do with your new toy. My objective was to get a travel companion with solid gaming abilities. The transformer won the contest. The transformer was at 400 bucks with 32GB while the Sammy one was around 460 bucks with the same set up. Sammy tablet felt good but showed many times some choppiness while scrolling home pages or browsing in general. On same testing ASUS was totally fluid and vever slowed down. ASUS has a Tegra 3 chip and a dedicated store for dedicated games, this is a plus in my list. ASUS also has an interesting gadget i didn t buy at the moment, but could be an interesting opportunity to get as a Xmas gift: a docking station that makes it a full Laptop station, improving the battery life up to 15 hours. This is actually the only tablet that has this option fully implemented. I can consider this a plus. So bottom line, I got my new toy and I felt better for the day ... Fascinating, I just came back home and my lovely Kim said "Tahnk you so much for my present!! i love it!! let meplay with that a bit!!"..... I was taking a look at this right now.. There is the full Mass Effect trilogy down 50% - Most importantly ME3 (with multiplayer) at only 30 bucks!! This is a game you should have There are also so many other titles 50% down, unfortunately i was looking for Skyrim but I guess is not on Origin.. I can t find it there.

Cent, I am huge MW fan too, and although I do agree this game so far delivered interesting results, is the "Free to Play" suddenly change in policy that leaves me unhappy. I see how many other "Indie" Devs are using wird methods to collect money, but it was nice to see these guys were serious enoough to not do it. Suddenly that feeling changed when they come over asking for a $60 BETA access (all perks are just BS). So the game is free to play, but you pay $60 if you wanna Betatesting??? What the hell this ppl is smoking ??? And I m telling you, is not the money itself. if this game was advertised as a standard retail game, $60 retail price, instead all of the buzz being "the first Mechwarrior game free to play" and bla bla.. In that case, i love MW enough to be nuts and pre-purchase something in BETA. It s just the subdole change in business model that pisses me off. If you want you can add the lack of respect for gamer intelligence, also.

Skaz I am surprised like you are. I had very high expectations for this project. This unexpected change in direction with "pay for Beta" is not what I wss expecting. On the other side possibly the game will still be good when launched public. This thing is just leaving a bitter flavor in my mouth. I will not partecipate to this Beta but I still interested with the final product.

Right, I just read that and I was a bit confused. So, it has been advertised all over the place as F2P but now the "closed Beta" costs either 60 or 30 bucks ??? Yeah, I read about the "perks" but, really 60 bucks for a closed beta? Is the game industry just going nuts? Are they just inventing new ways everyday to milk money? Man, I miss the ole' good times when a game was advertised, went for sale, you like it you buy it. Possibly retail version, possibly completed and ready to play. I also miss thoze days where to beta test a game, possibly your time was paid. Now gamers are bece so Idiot they pay full retail price to beta test a piece of junk! ... And noone feels offended either ;)
