Yeah, Used the WD tool to have a full SMART report. It is green and passed full test. However i do not trust it too much. It was giving me green SMART also on the previous drive i had to RMA. I m rescanning with chkdsk /f /r right now. It is taking forever and will see at the end. It found a few Orphanized files.... We ll see when it ends.

I don t think there is a chance the SATA controller speed need to be adjusted. This is an old MB and has only SATA 2 (not the newer 3) which is fully compatible to any possible decent HDD out there. I will keep the option in the "brainstorming draw" anyway tho. I will actually monitor in the next few days the behavior having all at the original location. Now the SSD does its job and the Storage does its job, they should live happily ever after

yeah, i think larger and Slower disks may have a problem interacting with the OS on SSD requesting the temp files at a faster rate. My 1.5TB 7200RPM is for sure wayyyy slower than a smaller drive with fast RPMs. However, it may be the solution or it may be not.. I will monitor its behavior.

Ok, so understanding those temp folders are on a hi-perf hdd, is possible timing read/write are not affected. Is your driver a 10000 RPM? What size is?

Check proces and see how convenient can be buying one model better than another. If price on 6870 is very competitive compared to the higher model, then it really may make sense. If is not that much competitive, you may want just wait the higher model drops in price in the future. Also use the same site to compare Nvidia and then check their prices. AS YOU SEE .. A LOT OF CARDS..AND BUTTOM LINE.. JUST A HANDFUL OF fps IN DIFFERENCE..

@ Skaz: Originally the reason why i was moving all of the temp files to the "storage" was just to not have that Temp space "wasted" on a 128GB smaller SSD. However I didn t foresee the possiblity was going to be a pain. Now i also do consider that the reading / writing to the Storage temp would decrease performances, so the temp are back on the SSD. i will monitor performances and behavior to see if this fix all of the issues. @ Donzy: I didn t consider the SATA cable at fault. I can change it just to be safe, I have plenty of spares. About the WD disk tools, i have them, i didn t use them yet on this drive. However, I used it on the old one and that tool was reporting all green and the drive was not even able to Format.. so I am not trusting that tool too much. @ MH6 Did you move your temp folders to the Storage or you left them on the original location on the SSD ?

Ok, i have to say 2012 started with the "Curse of the HardDrive", and the story continues...... RECAP After I installed my SSD, my "storage" 1TB Western Digital failed and was seriously corrupted, not even able to reformat. WD sent me a newr model in replacement, a 1.5TB this time, Caviar black 64mb cache. It should be a good drive. PRESENT TIME Reistalled again, slowly putting stuff on and testing behavior. This morning the new 1.5TB reported a massive list of messed files when it started performing a Chkdsk at start up. I am starting evaluating is possibly not the drive to be at fault but something else is causing the corruptions. I want brainstorming with you guys to see if we can see possible reasons. if anyone has experience in weird "paranormal" computer events. I want to consider a couple of things: 1 - When i installed the OS, i moved the Temp folders from the SSD to the HDD supposing to improve performances and save valuable room on the small 128GB SSD. ---> I am evaluating the possibility that the temp files the OS needs to cache and read while performing standard opeerations may have a problem whe are running on drives performing different "speeds". I am just supposing the SSD is obviously faster than the HDD, so i may have 2 possible issues: ---a) possible bottleneck in data read and write due to the HDD slowness --- possible data corruption because operations are required faster than HDD can perform? that sounds weird, but i would not exclude. I noticed there were weird behavior in OS performances when i moved the Temp files to the HDD. IE was sometimes crashing (temp internet files were on HDD) and there were some stalling sometimes in other operations. I moved back the temp internet folder to the SSD and now it seems IE is faster and stable. Trying to reading the very fast action Chkdsk performs, I had a feeling that a few of corrupted or orphanized files were located on the temp folder. I actually moved back the OS temp folders to the original location on the SSD. I will evaluate performances and stability. 2 - Is it possible the SATA controller on the motherboard is failing? If that is the case, the controller might be sending corrupted data or simply not being able to correctly read data. I am not too keen to this, because it seems a grey area and usually in electronic, there is no grey, either it works or doesnt (1 or 0). I didn t try to swap the HDD drive SATA Port to another one. And i was thinking, if it was the controller, why should be always D: drive failing? SSD is on the same controller it could fail as well, but it doesnt... So, this is the scenario... if anyone wanna play "Detective' and give some input on possibilities, I am all ears. However I would like also to hear from ppl using SSDs and Storages, if they moved the temp folders from the C: location to the Storage location, if they had any issue with that. Thank you.

As Wtchy said i think a lot depends on what are you playing the most and if you are satisfied with it or not. In the last few months my opinion on Videocards is that it became a jungle (aka a mess). Too many names, too many models, feature and performances so close to each other and then sometimes big price differences.. which i do not understand. I strongly believe there is a lot of "marketing" out there which is not helping the final user choice. I guess you can narrow down what you want based on what you need, such as: 1 - DX 11, DX 11.x support 2 - Multimonitor support AND high performances (fact is supporting multimonitor doesn t mean is going to perform great when you use it) 3 - General performances on your fav games. With that said, keep an eye to the top line models prices. Point is, there is no re-sell value, therefore you have to think "does it make sense spending money for something is NOT the top tier model (and possibly resulting in being a clone of my actual card just with a new dress) when i could save and get if not the real top line, at least the one right below?" If you are struggling with any of point 1,2 or 3 possibly you want to think to upgrade but keep in mind you are getting another middle (not Top) tier card. If you are not struggling, then just wait for the next super monster to be released and then spend your money to the model right below it

This statement automatically explaines why is not gonna happen any "Revolution" any time soon... and about "Evolution".. sure everything evolves, in fact "nothing get destroyed, everything transforms" however Evolution takes hunderds of years, so sit tight in meanwhile. Electric cars on a large commercial scale it s a mere chimera someone has to offer to general people to keep pblic down. Of course benefits and needs are there and of course manufacturing "electric" would be the solution. Also we do have technology to do it. About costs, they would be easily lowered down if instead of directing Billion of Dollars to War (for nothing), Government would redirect those Billions of Dollars funding the expenses for mass electric production. Besides the fact if this would ever happen, using a such massive fund, Companies would get paid and the final user would put just the standard 15 - 20 grands to buy a Car and that would be Serious Revolution. But the War Machine is not gonna stop, because involves money.. because i don t see anny time soon any Tank or Airplane or Humvee or Truck being ELECTRICAL, so that means Logistic in War.. fuel ddemand most specifically, is a wonderful income for that lobby of power controlling Oil. Ask Mr. G..W. Busch how many Trillions his oil family earned in the last 10 years of War. With that said, let s continue dreaming of Sci-Fi and let's wait for Evolution...

I think is a pretty good config. You shoul enjoy it for long time Depending on your needs you may have a larger Hdd but that can come later on

Any idea why the game seems not recognizing my joy buttons on set up? Joy works and Axis are OK, in fact buttons are working too, 1 to fire, 2 to fire weap 2 etc. as from config. What i seem not be able to to is remap button. When i click on the box for an action and click the button i want to bind, it just doesn t do it. Any suggestion? Maybe there is a INI file i can manually config ? Windows fully recognize the Joy Logitech extreme 3d

How to set up Units is still a bit unclear. It seems you want to choose an Affiliation to one of the major Houses at first, and then below that you will have a Unit. Also there would be the option to create a Merc unit, but I am not sure if that is the best way to go. It seems mercs have no access to some option, due to their "uncertain liability". Consider this game is FREE but will work like an MMO, meaning there will be a lot of ongoing simulation for the univers, wars, battle, resources and so forth. What I do like is that this game is not just "get the mech, jump in the arena and kill someone". Here you really have to paln your war and your resources to go ahead and support yout House efforts in the War picture.

hey guys, I remeber i was recently tlkaing with someone of you.. EBE and maybe Custard (can t recall) about the KIA Optima coming to UK. I just found this article: http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/new-kia-optima-2012-review/260865 but I was quite disappointed in what I was reading there. It seems they are offering a "nerfed" version of this beautiful car. They are talking about only Diesel engines and they are unfortunately highlighting a very dull driving performance. This is not what i am used with my car honestly. My driving experience is way far from "dull", but is true to say engines are totally different. This is the American review: http://www.thecarconnection.com/overview/kia_optima_2012 and can give you a wide understanding of the differences. My trim is the top line SX Turbo. Besides the fact I have the sporty version, the UK version has a 1700cc Diesel engine for 134hp (???) and a torque of 239lb between 2-3000 rpm. My car is a 2000cc turbo with 274hp and torque 269lb at 1750 rpm. This engine is not even available overthere. Looking at the car, at its weight and the poor hp in the UK version, I guess I have to believe that car is far from exciting. Too bad because it is such a beautiful car inside out.

Sometimes it happens to normal ppl as well :0 I almost feel like i won a little lottery As you know after the hard work of full reinstalling my OS under the Christmas holidays, when all was nice and beautiful, my 3 months old 1TB WD decided to go nuts a few days ago. Lost a few files but most importantly had to reinstall everythng back again and.. then.. just to discover the HD was totally dead. Not even willing to reformat again. With a bitter taste in my mouth, I went online at the Western Digital tech support and I had at least a nice surprise: - RMA procedure is a breeze. Also they will send the replacement first. So I did it. 3 days after (UPS rulez) I got my replacement, right now. I just unboxed it and TAAA DAAAA ! They sent me a 1.5TB newer model !!!!! The fine prints are saying "sometimes" they will replace the companent with similar or better part if original was not available.. but you know what.. it never happened to me !! So I am so totally happy!! I got a larger drive and possibly better and.. oh well.. if it dies.. I will RMA again ;) (I hope not!!) Considering the actual prices on HDDs getting this one is really like winning a small lottery I paid about 70 bucks for the 1TB and now I have 1.5TB at 70 bucks, not too shabby yeah.. a bit of pain in the ass of reinstall all the crap but oh well.. I ll survive

I do approve this from DICE to work against cheater, but having a "doubt' if you had been "cheated" does not help. just report what happened with particulars. To me, using an "outside boundaries" location is already cheating, besides the fact he was able or not to aim with such accuracy at that distance. This game is already frustrating for other reasons, i don t really need fucking cheater around
