Switching to SSD

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the frequent sales at Newegg, I've been able to switch over to SSD (96 Gig for $85.)

It was money well spent.

This box has a 1TB HDD that was just a pain. Took forever to boot, and performance scores were sucky.

Migration was easy with Acronis. Thanks to those that previously recommended it. Thanks to having a backup drive and some extra HDDs, I was able to back up everything several times over, and am in the process of making the old HDD main partition data only by reformatting and reinstalling the data from the backup.

I have been a bit disappointed in this i7 machine since I got it due to the crappy HDD. My i5 laptop was faster. No more.

Well done Elvis :)

Also as a bonus of moving to SDD you are getting a better life expectancy for your boot drive.

A normal HDD can last 2-5 Yrs on average using it daily before failure starts or occurs

A normal SSD has a life expectancy of around 15 yrs, sweet music knowing your data is stored on a more reliable media.

Other bonus features are:

Smaller footprint.

lower power consumption.

Lower heat generation.

Better shock resistance.

lighter weight.

Enjoy. :winner_first:
