NoScream~SPARTA~
Wise Monkeys choose 8800GT/GTX New Radeon's Reviewed and benched... sorry ATi onlookers, if you were waiting for the new Ati to be the second coming.... Call of Duty 4 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/AMD-Radeon-H...w-29753-17.html and in all other benches http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/AMD-Radeon-H...view-29753.html New Radeon 3xxx range http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/AMD-Radeon-H...ew-29753-7.html In the end, the Radeon HD 3870 is far from being a revolution, despite what its name and the Direct3D 10.1 compatibility might suggest. Although better than ATi 2xxx series, Nvidias 88xx still flys high, Did you buy an 8800 GT or GTX? Good choice ! http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/AMD-Radeon-H...w-29753-20.html comments ? I knew the 8800GTX is a monster card and it looks to stay like that till well into 2008.
MedicSN6
After my experience with the X850 Pro series card, I will never buy another ATi card anyways. This just confirms it. Not only are they preverbial junk, they are leagues behind nVidia.
MUTILATER
Yeah the ATI offerings are not up to scratch even thou they boast some great looking specs on paper. This will only have one effect in keeping pricing high and non competitive except for one area in the mid range where price/performance ATI has the winning combo. It will be interesting to see what comes in the new year as both will be developing better products and Nivida has a projected new arrival by march. The CPU market is going to hot up considerably within the next few months with new processors from both camps, This i expect to see AMD take the lower price range by storm and intel come out with there new C2D which in current tests is aimed at a sub $300 market with performance hitting 4.5ghz on air. The new quads will still be overpriced per performance boost for games, however AMD's new quads might shake this market sector right up as they are using true quad not shared performance like the current Intel quads. Early in Q1 in 08 will see a price / performance boost in both CPU camps which will make consumer purchase even more affordable, Pity the GPU market didn't follow suit and respond likewise. Here is an example , Nvidia 8800GT ... preorder was $299, If you can find one as stock levels are low until january they are now at $400 +, I'm hopeing that Nvidia get stock and outprice ATI and make there GT's sub $300. Couple that card to a new generation CPU and your on a game rig winner with 1333 fsb and the possibility of hitting almost 5ghz with decent air cooling from a duel core (perhaps a low end quad might fall close also) for a Cpu, MB, Ram and Gpu combo for under $900 US. Will be interesting to watch it unfold over the next 3-6 months.
PwntUpRage
I've read the two new ati cards were meant to compete with the 8800 GT primarily by being cheaper than it. Its still outperformed by the GT so I'm not sure how much cheaper it is and if its worth the savings.
DrNo~SPARTA~
I have always had nothing but problems with ATI. Especially drivers. What a clunkathone those are.
Halli~SPARTA~
Yes but for AGP users the x1950pro & xtx is still the best route to go untill one can upgrade the whole system then go back to Nvidia.
Punisher~SPARTA~
I was hoping and praying ATI would step up and do something, but as usual, I am disappointed

PwntUpRage
Actually, looking at those charts and then looking at these prices http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompa...N82E16814143117suddenly makes it look like a pretty good card from ATI.The GT is better, but not by as much as I had heard people say. $100.00 is a big difference.Actually found some GT's for a low as $270.00 after...no edit button? Athlon64~SPARTA~
Well they got a 7800 for agp and i heard thru the grape vine that they are going to make a adaptior with chipp in it for the 8 series to be used on agp, but that will be a waste of a good card.
