Floyd~SPARTA~ Posted July 21, 2009 Share Posted July 21, 2009 Earlier this year we let our son join the WBG thinking he would be in good hands as we knew most of the guys from another gaming group. But it would appear that the bullying tactics have remained. The WBG pride themselves on being a mature brotherhood of gamers, however after tonight that appears not to be the case. I am posting this here because I have posted on their forums & I expect my post to be removed like they have done to my sons teamspeak access & forum account. Noone is to gain from attacking the other, this can ONLY be used as a means to belittle the other. How can posting here help the situation that dark is in? this does not address that! For those from sparta I hope to shed alittle light on the sitaution (I dont know everything about this but what I know is for your ears) There was about 6 guys playing arma and also in teamspeak, Dark for whatever matter upset two that I know of (I dont know what happened, but it happened). The members that were on ts were directing questions to dark (maybe in a raised tone) on it, and he did not respond to their questions. that is when one of the members kicked him out of ts and most likely at the same time banned him from the forum (I would have likely did the same, to limit the user to talking directly with the admins about it rather then the group as a whole). Here is where we are now, Floyd posting here and in wbg forums about this "misdeed". things to know: out of the users in ts, there was not a disagreement in regards to the kicking. The ban was only temporary, so dark would of been able to post after he cooled off. The user did not contact the admins, rather created a public scene in regards to a issue that needed to be handled one on one. This was how the person chose to handle the situation. and the dark did cause a upsetting in ts. I would request that after sparta has heard this that they view this as a private matter whether or not a misdeed has gone on. I?m getting involved because he?s my son He was in a channel on his own listening to your meeting when he was banned, I witness this I was in the room about to tell him it?s time for bed, after talking to him about this for a while I found out that around 45mins of your meeting was spent slagging him of, and he is expected to be more mature and respectful. We have had a discussion going on for weeks about the juniors and last weekend we decided to dismantle it and turning all juniors into full members. We also gave them a short "trial" period to see if they could really act mature enough.I think this period was set to 3 weeks but it might be 4. Custard knows better I think. If they pass this time they would be considered full members with all the rights and responsibility that grownups has. We, as a clan, had a voting about this were all members had 6 days to join the discussion and finally post a vote. The three options was: 1* let everything be as is. 2* Dismantle it completely getting rid of all juniors. 3* Dismantle it and turn them into full members. All except 2 voted for option 3 and last weekend this was carried out. The reasons for this has been that some of the juniors have repeatedly abused the TS channels while others have been trying to chill and play. Many of the members have been upset about this for a long time but I and some others have defended the kids over and over again but that ended with this vote. The other thing I would like to address is the idea that we remove posts if we feel like it. That would NEVER happen. If some very intrusive spam/porn was posted it would be moved some were so that members don't have to see it. But so far that hasn't happened. I do think he can be an awsome kid to talk to and play with. However, while i've been in the same channel as the guys playing with dark these past 1-2 months, i have my self felt that his behaviour has been 'degrading' as such, with sometimes little remarks against other members that could seem hurtful, just because they were asking him to co-operate more. However, i do also understand that other members may say little remarks, meant as jokes etc, but could also be percieved as hurtful. I understand this from personal experience. However, i feel that a combination of the 2 scenarios (scuse my spelling), might have led to some bad feelings from Dark towards these members. From what i gathered from the conversations due to this, the guys HAVE been trying to include dark time after time again, however, due to the past events, dark does not seem to be co-operating with the others as much as he can. Which, with us trying to be a more tactical clan, can sometimes anger the members. Me and connor......did have a similar experience with dark, back around may time, howevere, due to other problems occuring at the time, we did not have much time to speak to him about it. We did drop the matter however after his behaviour improved a few weeks later. As the others have said as well though guys, we have recently had a meeting where we decided the J's would become full members, and such would have to accept resbonsibility for their actions, regardless of age etc. We try to solve matters as easily and effectivly, using methods such as trying to talk to members, co-operating with them, trying to understand the situation etc. We only use Temp bans as a last resort, once all other methods have been tried, and Perm bans are never even considered against other players apart from in certain cases, such as hacks etc. We will also never consider deleting posts apart from in cases such as, like ali said, porn, spam etc. I, now, personally feel hurt by some of the comments you guys have said about our clan, such as bullies etc, especially seeing as we have been trying to solve this issue with dark for about a month now. Do you guys really think that by trying to talk to dark, trying to co-operate with him etc to find out what the problem is, and then temp banning him once all else has failed and his behaviour has not improved, is bullying ? Floyd is an upset parent so his reaction is understandable and frankly restrained. Every action has consequences, maybe someone could have thought to ask Floyd or Kiwi how to deal with the situation (it's not like you didnt know he was Dark Magicians father), it could have been a non event, instead of this. You can do as you please both here and obviously in your clan, but you would be better off having someone chat with Floyd directly by pm and eventually on TS instead expressing yourselves here. One thing i did forget to mention in my last post is that, i have been trying to contact Floyd through xfire, however for some reason it freezes upon loading (if you know a solution, please pm me). If Floyd is up for it, i would like to talk to him on TS. However, the same could be said in reverse. Could Floyd have not come straight to us and ask a reason, instead of posting a thread here declearing bullying, and starting what would inevitably become an arguement? I do understand that he would be upset, same goes for Kiwi. I hope this does not cause arift between our clans, and that we can get it sorted out asap, and without further incident. I dont think i talked much that meeting, however there was a lot of 'slagging off', i must agree. I remember just a few months ago, Hurt gave a lecture about slagging off members behind their backs in a meeting. This behaviour was unacceptable. I think, we should get both sides of this incident; Dark, Floyd and Kiwi; with the admins who decided the temp ban and the members who have a problem; together in a teamspeak channel so we can solve this problem and find the problem.
