Skaz~SPARTA~
Hey guys, I've been researching some 1440p and 1600p monitors for an upgrade to my current one. I've been looking into the Dells U2713 and U3014, as well as the Asus PB278Q. I was wondering if anyone has one or has done any research onto monitors like this. Any input would be good! thanks
PANiC
i went cheap and got this one: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dgm_ips-2701wph.htm i believe it's the same LG IPS panel that's in the apple cinema displays, ok i dont get a sleek casing, but i paid £300 rather than £900, at that price i can survive ;) actually the stand is really crap, you can see where they are saving money. even before i turned it on i disassembled the thing to remove the stand http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=22284755&postcount=356 that tft website is good btw, review of the dell: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2713h.htm what size screen do you have now? i can't really see you being dissapointed with whatever you get, it's just how much money you have to spend. Skaz~SPARTA~
I have a samsung XL2370. It was one of the first LED monitors out on the market. I want to upgrade to a 27+. But I am not sure if I should go with a 120Hz 1080p monitor or a 1440p/1600p monitor. I saw one at best buy and played some games on it and the resolution and overall quality is something I've never seen in any monitor. One thing that worries me is the high input lag that they have. Forrester~SPARTA~
High input lag is for young gamers a problem when you get older you'll be unlikely to notice.....
PANiC
i guess if you are really bothered about input lag grab a smaller screen. if you want an awesome screen get a big one i gave up worrying about framerate, temps, ghz, inputlag a couple of years ago and just play and have fun. NoScream~SPARTA~
Problem will be price, compared to a nice 1600x1200, 1200p (or cheaper 1600x1080 , 1080p) @ $/£200-500 The bigger resolution will command a premium. The other problem is SIZE ! Mast standard size monitors are 24" NOT 27" Also the larger size means the PIXEL DENSITY is actually NO BETTER HAVE a look at these http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-pb278qResolution: 2560x1440Panel: IPSSize: 27''Response time: 5ms http://gaming.benq.com/gaming-monitor/xl2720tResolution: 1920x1080Panel: TNSize: 27''Response time: 1ms

Because the pixel density of a 1080p 27" is terrible.
Athlon64~SPARTA~
I dissagree! the larger the screen the bigger everything is, you can find the sneeky little buggers that are hideing in the bushes real easy, and pop them between the eyes real nice, and can see all the way to the outher side of the map depending on the game. One can snipe with out a scope. All that on 1024x768 you don't need all that 1980 x900 crap squinting to see wile the guy with the Big monitor has allready picked you off. Don't knock it untill you have done it 60 htz is all your going to get anyway due to frame rate locks in most all games anyway. And the bigger the resolution slows down the vid card trying to render all that unless you have a $1000 vid card I killed the crap out out of them with a 32" lcd tv and a 8800 gts for years. Ask how many fellow spartans i have shot out of the bushes on Call of duty modern warfair. Had trouble with drivers untill invidia fixed the drivers to work with everything now days. Everytime i update drivers it would not detect monitor and it would shut it down, you just have to have 2 monitors to play with the settings untill it would work.
