  1. Ebden, I finally figured out exactly what the problem is. Please see below.
  2. If I were you, I'd consider picking up a single ati 4870. The price is reasonable and really in my opinion can't be beat at this price point. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....archResult=True It matches up to your system very nicely and can usually out perform a nvidia gtx260 (non core 216 version).
  3. I have the same board in my other rig (gigabyte ep45) and it is compatible. Basically I was wondering about any sound card or maybe a video capture device. Your graphics card is fine too. Like Bat is pointing to, it's most likely a ram problem. I have also seen this problem when there is too much stress on the motherboard. More specifically on the CPU socket. If you have installed any special cooler then you might loosen it up a bit and see if that helps. Finally, if reseating your cards doesn't help then try running with one stick of ram at a time. It won't be fun but at least you can determine if your ram is causing the problem.
  4. Try reseating some of your cards. I know it sounds dumb but it works if your video card is just a hair loose, etc. Also, here is the compatibility list for Windows 7. Make sure you don't have some hardware that isn't on the HCL because that could cause problems. Although I think Win7 will warn you about troublesome HW when you install it. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx What does your device manager look like? Have any yellow question marks?
  5. Noooo my wingman is gone!! *cries* Throw something together Benny!
  6. Bravo had a good run of it too under the lead of Phisher. Using smoke, javalins, and staying behind our point man kept us alive with forward momentum. We also made good use of coms with team mates calling bearings, etc. GG all
  7. Interesting question considering the money GM took from the us taxpayers. Very nice car none the less... and not just because I'm from Detroit. The camaro has a special place in my heart. This is still clasic Detroit muscle IMO. Congrats and... Drive it right!
  8. Dallas New York City Maidenhead 10mb internet (surprising results) with my QOS rules enabled
  9. +1 Thanks for all the hard work gentlemen.
  10. While playing as a sniper last night, after a rough and careful battle I was finally able to capture a d30 site occupied my several men. It took so long that I was down to only 2 clips on my 1911... Unfortunately my request for MHQ1 or an ammo drop in the AO could not be serviced or heard over the guys in the air. So finally after taking verifying no enemy in said d30 site, I was down to a single clip... Noticed an infantry element closing in on my position. I was able to use an enemy ammunition truck to drive 1km away to the service depot for ammo and relief. I felt that using the enemy vehicle in this way was ok. While this went on I overheard people using enemy armor and some folks attempting to fly enemy aircraft. To me there is a difference between using enemy armor or vehicles to gain an unfair advantage, and using an enemy transport vehicle when face with an impossible situation. Keep in mind that I don't play for top frag. I play for fewest deaths. To me this is both more challenging and more realistic. What are your thoughts on using the vehicles (properly) only in a dire situation?
  11. Added to myspace. Keep alert and talk soon.
  12. I guess we should donate some more then, eh? Edit: but I don't see where we can issue a message via paypal... Bah. Oh well, I just sent an e-mail message instead.
  13. I like many here, appreciate all of the hard work you folks have put in on these maps. Thank you. The side missions can be nice to have when people want a little less oppressive air strikes going on over their heads. For this reason I would recommend keeping them in if possible. The Big Dom style AO should be added as soon as possible, however. Pretty much for the same reasons that we play it on the US/West Domination server. Since I typically play on the air dom server, I've noticed several small but somewhat annoying issues. I hope this can be taken as a constructive way to make the Air Dom server into a more enjoyable place (for ground pounders and zoomies alike ). 1. No standard runway etiquette. This could be easily helped with static map markers such as departure arrows, arrival, direction for runway traffic, and approach paths with alt markers. 2. Helo traffic. There are numerous and almost guaranteed air collisions with Helos freely zooming all over main base. This could be helped with static map markers (departure and arrival markers for helos). 3. SU-34 flying patterns are predictable in that they always fly low altitude. Could it be possible to add high altitude SU-34s? Maybe at 5k? This would be more challenging for everyone... death from above! As it stands now, if one were to cruise at 4k or 5k meters, then attack down from above, the sidewinders almost always hit so it is a bit unrealistic that the SU-34 refuse to gain altitude to engage us. 4. More reward for ground troops with laser designators. Not sure how to make this happen but if we could award ground troops then more people would do it. For instance, how about change the default troop loadout to include a laser designator instead of binoculars? 5. Pilot list for certain aircraft. There are so many dummies that take off from base over the field (they don't care about using the runway) that it ruins the experience for all of us that play in a controlled, more sophisticated, real world method. I could imagine this puts a pretty hefty burden on the admins, but if we could limit general piloting activity to unarmed aircraft only then more people would take time to fly right and join TS. This isn't a perfect solution but I believe it would help pilots take more responsibility for their actions while on the airdom server. 6. slower respawn for aircraft. Or respawn at different air bases on the map altogether. This would discourage deathmatch style play. The pilot list would probably help with this too. 7. A few map glitches perhaps? The new objectives can take a very long time to spawn. Flying into the su-34 squadron can kill fps to 5 or lower. This seems to be server side because I have lowered my res to 1024x768 and put all settings on low, still with only 5fps. My system is a water cooled core i7 @ 4.2GHz with 4GB of ram and an ATi 5870. Typically I play at 3840x1024 on high settings with 5k view distance @ 28fps average. I have tried this with arma2 set to use 8 threads 2GB and 4 threads 2GB, with no discernible difference. 8. Admin passwords. I think Zeno mentioned before that some regulars should have admin passwords. This is a good idea because some of the issues above (e-thugs that ruin the fun) could be avoided if a regular had the password. Voting is good only if we have the majority, but sadly most of the time we can't get the vote. 9. Apache aircraft and more variety of enemy and allied aircraft. Self explanatory as to why this would be cool. 10. More manned tank crews near the c130. This way we could air lift them in with the c130. Also although fun, put a bigger timer on the BLUE 82/MOAB drops. As stands, unscrupulous players can level entire AOs and maps if they know how to release tons of MOABS by using the c130 menu. I think that's it guys, Thanks again!
  14. Sorry I missed it. Yesterday I was only on the AirDom which actually had some ground support. The likes of idan, T1, Gooniversal, and Jack made it a pretty fun time (aside from the usual problem people joining and destroying the base).
  15. way to go, Stang!!! (nice b-day girl too)
  16. Yep. Steam is pretty awesome in my opinion.
  17. Nice setup. On my tri monitor I use square 4:3 monitors (edit: 20" squares on the ends, 24" wide in the middle) because it distorts less. For flight sims it's second to none! Nice rig! ...but where is your HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick)???
  18. Hi Hammer! You found a great group of folks, here! Welcome to the forums.
  19. The other night we had a pretty good game going on Air Dom. That night I hopped on and just practiced landings until a few more folks joined. Before we knew it we had several players and even ground units. I find it's more fun when people play in a more realistic manner though. For instance, some people call out the runway correctly on takeoff and landing. "all aircraft @ base, the is rooster in a10 taxing for takeoff, clear runway" and "a10 on runway departing north, straight out"... Also communicating the landings also are necessity that help with the realism of the game. I guess this is kind of why people like to play on the Domination server, because the players are expected to act a certain way. Realistic game play makes the experience more fun for everyone involved. We had several players that don't use coms and just take off, bomb the base, etc which makes it not as fun because it's a free for all. Scorpion and some other folks were calling in laser targets, I even dropped some MOABs from the c130. Some other players ran formation as f35 escorts while I piloted the c130. We maintained speed and headings while coordinating with each other. This is all good fun. Having the ability to reload unlimited ammo in the jets isn't very realistic IMHO. Landing is a part of flying so if people can not land they probably should steer clear of fixed wing aircraft. I got the feeling the unlimited ammo thing is because people don't like to land and rearm... Just some thoughts. See you guys online.
  20. Is there any way to add controllable units to air domination? Like squads and such so we can do taxi service? If so then having some FAC units on the ground would provide more targets, etc. Right now air dom is just a bunch of people zooming around in f35's... Not a whole lot of fun. It is fun doing tank air drops near the AO though. If we could get more manned tanks on the map that would be cool. The other night I was dropping tank crews from the c130, it was cool but there are only a few crews. So after like four drops I had nothing else to really do from an air support perspective... besides perfect my landing approach and glide slope. Rooster
  21. Some people follow orders better than others.
  22. +1 to that. I was getting the feeling that people may have been trying for top fragger last night rather than no deaths. But maybe that is just because it feels good to be recognized as a good player. To me, being a reliable part of the team is the best thing we can do in a TAC DOM setting to prove that we're good players. There was something a bit off last night IMHO, but all in all still fun. I've been sick with strep the past few days, maybe that was "off". Regardless though, thank you to everyone who make TAC DOM possible. I think I speak for the regulars when I say that all of the setup and coordination does not go unnoticed and is a part of what makes Spartan gaming so much fun for us. Edit: I forgot to say good job to Yankee. I think it can be overbearingly busy at times for first time squad leaders. I think you will be even better at this in the future!!! Luggage, Zeno, T1, Kal, Durka, (and anyone I missed) thanks for bearing with and making it a fun night. Sincerely, Rooster
  23. Okay, being an old die hard stereo audiophile fan I was going to make a solid argument for the Yamaha. Slightly lower THD% on average with better amplifiers make it a only so slightly more capable amp in terms of sound quality. BUT... All bets are off because I just noticed that NewEgg has the Onkyo on sale for $599.99 so these amps are no longer compatible in price. At $599.99 the Onkyo is a much better amp. Considering the price performance ratio I would say it is a no brainer to buy the Onkyo. Not only do you have a better rear end layout with the Onkyo but the new Onkyo amps are known for their Absolute Ground Plate which will minimize the "buzz" or interference/feedback between inputs. The Onkyo also uses buss bars so in theory there is less distortion potential using this kind of setup. Phew! What kind of speaker setup are you going to be driving with these? I recently bought a new surround sound setup myself and am running a set of Klipsch speakers with a powered 15" Cerwin vega sub. Something to be had for quality for sure. Hope this helps!
