  1. I was struggling to get to 50 percent, but that was nothing like trying to get to a total 51 percent win rate. I had it for about 10 minutes, then played again and lost, so I'm a 50.995. It would be frustrating to peak at 51 percent for 10 minutes.
  2. 1. This Springfield is made in Croatia. 2. Get lessons from someone to start you out right. Most CWP classes aren't real lessons. Buy me a plane ticket and I'm there for you. 3. Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. If you're doing it wrong, then practicing won't help. 4. Work on smoothness and technique. Speed will come on its own. 5. Carry something weighty in the coat pocket to make it toss back better when you draw. 6. Most people aren't going to bother with going to the range, shooting a zillion rounds, etc. The answer is dry firing, or better, buy one of these things: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GFDTNA/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687602&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002N2B0DO&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1CHS9XJVS6J0CAXC8JMS It give good feedback. Dry firing is also a great way to shoot your walls or family, so learn to do it safely and triple check to see that there is no ammo anywhere in the room. 7. Your marksmanship is already adequate for a close quarter encounter. Focus on smoothness, speed will come. Dry firing with the laser will improve your marksmanship a ton. 8. Aim small, miss small. You don't need a 100 yard range. A target half the size at 50 yards works just as well. Or a quarter size at 25 yards. The point is, aim small, miss small. Don't practice gunfights at 100 yards. If someone shoots at you from that far, practice running. 9. Learn to shoot with this grip. Trust me. 10. Learn to expect a zillion different opinions, all of them equally weird. If there was one way of doing it there would be one calibre, one weapon, one stance, etc. There are as many expert opinions as there are shooters. 11. If anyone tries to teach you to shoot with a weaver stance, shoot them.
  3. It doesn't crash. It's cooler and quieter. I'm on the highest settings. I'm happy.
  4. With the spot fan on full, the northbridge is now at 47C, 116 F. 33 C, 59 F drop. Wow. I may back it down to a slower speed, but I wanted to see what I could get.
  5. Ok, so the adapter to power up the additional case fans have arrived Northbridge temp with one fan: About 80 C (175 F) With one fan, case open: About 85 C (185 F) (temp went up while wiring fans) With 3 fans: About 74 C (165 F), dropping to 61 (141 F) after 30 minutes. 19 degrees C, or 54 degrees F. Well worth the case upgrade to me. Will be adding the spot fan in a bit to see where that gets me. I'm already so much cooler -- the best temp since the Mobo was new in 2008, including use of the spot fan in the old case. The sound difference is noticeable as the fans in the front are working. Much, much quieter, though, than the 4 fans in the old Antec case.
  6. I went ahead and got the case, placing the old mobo/cpu in it. The mobo is old enough that it doesn't have enough 3-pin fan connectors to get all the case fans going, plus my cpu cooler, so I'm waiting on an adapter. The one fan that's working seems very quiet, so we'll see what three of them sounds like. The mobo doesn't have USB 3 yet, so the USB connectors on the front of the case will go unused until I upgrade. The northbridge is running quite warm without a dedicated fan and with only one case fan. Will see what difference two more fans make before adding the spot fan. Yes, there's very little in the way of cabling to be seen on the business side. Will do a photo soon. I'm lacking in LEDs, so the case won't looked tricked out.
  7. I'm looking at re-mounting everything into that Corsair case of yours, Panic. Plenty of room, lots of air, space for the CPU cooler. If I can get a few more years out of the CPU/mobo by keeping it cool I would be very happy.
  8. You're right mate, the lifetime warranty didn't hurt a bit.
  9. My Geforce GTX660 has been giving me problems for quite some time. Overheating to begin with, then recently it would crash at high quality game settings in WOT. I started getting BSODs as well. After doing lots of tests to rule out other BSOD causes, I decided it was time to upgrade the graphics card. I decided on the XFX Radeon R9 280 based on price point and MaximumPC reviews. I was able to pick it up for $250 shipped. I measured my old Antec case before ordering, and I'm glad i did. Not much room to spare. I had to take the protective caps off the jacks to get the thing to fit and do quite a bit of cable maneuvering. It's in and working quite well. Running WOT at maximum settings and enjoying it. It's also much cooler and quieter than the old 660. I'm able to crank the case fans down to a lower setting, and move a spot fan to cool the northbridge on my mobo that's run hot since the day it was born. Since the old 1st generation i7 seems to be working well, I'm thinking that as long as things are carrying on I might upgrade my case sometime in the next few months to make room and continue to keep things cool and quiet. The Corsair box that Panic has looks great. I've seen it at Frys and will look for a sale.
  10. Aslain makes an all-in-one installer for XVM and quite a few mods. Also lets you uninstall them with little effort. Works great and is updated frequently. www.aslain.com
  11. What a great game. So much fun, so many years ago.
  12. I'm a bit dismayed to see our ranking in the new WOT clan ranking system. I really don't get it, nor do I care that much.
  13. http://www.noobmeter.com/player/eu/animistic/500149824/ Ran into this guy, animistic, in a Churchill 3. We won, but OMG, what a win record he has. Amazing stats.
  14. Wow, I can't believe that I went so long without checking into the forums. Enough to miss my own birthday by a month and a half. Thanks for the good thoughts, it was a good day, and all has gone well since.
  15. Finally got 8 kills in one game, Matilda T=5.
  16. What's really funny is that there's a Karl in my garage, and I've played the new map. It's German.

  18. Driver errors kept on growing. Maybe a kernal error. Tried an upgrade reinstall to try and save everything, but not enough room on SSD boot disk. Tried to rebuild with Acronis, but my archives weren't on my archive disk. Wonder where they went. So I'm in the middle of a reinstall. Not as painful as they used to be.
  19. Did a full reinstall, reloaded mods, then it happened again. Will look for other issues on PC first, ensuring everything is updated. Then will play reinstalled version only, adding one mod at a time. By the way, here's a nice XVM config with lots of info http://worldoftanks.curseforge.com/wot-mods/dbozan99s-min-max-xvm-config/
