Zeno~SPARTA~
This is a future project for me, but I want to review the possibilities now. Imagine TV connected to the Network (wired) Amplifier/receiver connected to the network (wired) HTPC connected to the network (wired) NAS connected to the network (wired) Tablet PC connected to the network (wireless) Are there apps that will let you Turn all units on and off change channels on the TV Change the volume on the Amp select an play material from the HTPC Basically can you use the tablet as an all in one control center? MedicSN6
I guess you have to see what apps are available before you buy a dedicated tablet. Mainly this will break down between the iPad and the better Android based apps. For Android I found this Media Center Control App which looks pretty user friendly and intuitive. http://mediacentercontrol.com/en/index_android.php $6.49 US on the Android Market and it looks like it could control everything through Windows Media Center in Windows 7 specifically. Here is another all inclusive media portal software pack. http://www.team-mediaportal.com/ for ipad here is a link to hometheatershack.com which runs down the names of some programs. I don;t know if there is one app to rule them all or not, but it should get you started. Also, I don't own anything other than a couple ipods from apple. I hope all this helps get you started. NoScream~SPARTA~
I guess you want to control everything via the tablet? (like a big RC). Your controlling 2 basic systems, IR (Infra-red), Networked (wired & wifi) To control the IR devices you need a Wifi to IR sender & the codes for the sender for each device. To control the networked devices, all you need is API functioned command program. I have a all in one http://www.logitech.com/en-us/remotes Harmony 900 http://www.logitech.com/en-us/remotes/universal-remotes/devices/5874 I control everything IR & things not IR, I have IR conversion kits senders (like the popcorn). But your using a tablet.
Zeno~SPARTA~
I havent got a tablet, but I used to have a touch screen controller (a long time ago) and I know that an iPad can control some receivers. I am thinking of a future where all the components can be controlled from a tablet via a GUI. Or can it be done today.

Zeno~SPARTA~
Skaz, I checked out the Sony Tablet S. Its really quite nice. The built in IR remote also has the ability to learn if your machine is not on the list. Good find.
Zeno~SPARTA~
I almost bought the Sony Tablet S, but hesitated in order to read some more reviews. Good job I did, I just found out that Android does not play MKV, VOB, MOV, Camera AVCHD, M2TS etc., Everything needs to converted to H.264, this is a ball ache I don't need, so no tablets for me.
