  1. Panic, by posting these are you endorsing their worthiness or simply sharing a list of the latest considerations? Your opinion will certainly sway my involvement.
  2. Not sure if the 20 people needed has been achieved but if not, I would like to participate in any role to best serve the exercise.
  3. Oh yes.....your going to do it mister.... or else you will be in detention!
  4. No I didn't wait for your return but I am glad that you were able to personally witness what I was saying about a good thermal paste versus consumer friendly pre-applied thermal tape. It has been my experience that the H70 till realize a 4-12 degree reduction in operating temperatures simply by replacing the pre-applied Corsair thermal tape and applying a good thermal paste. Once you install your H70, you will be making snow out of that machine
  5. I have installed plenty H50's and H70's. My advice is as follows: Polish to a shine both surfaces (heat sink & cpu) before applying your thermal compound. Make sure you use restraint when applying thermal grease. Too much is worse than too little. If your case does not allow fresh air to be drawn into the inlet side of the heat exchanger, make modifications to do so. I do know people that simply leave the side cover off their case and use a household small fan for circulation throughout the case. Thats all I have, because these units come sealed and fully assembled the installation is pretty straight forward. The only thing that some users have done is change the stock fans to higher CFM units of higher quality. The more air you put through that heat exchanger the greater the heat extraction. Great choice in cooler by the way!
  6. All my posts associated with this topic have been deleted to minimize confusion. Sorry it didn't work out
  7. Noob try to reset your CMOS bios to system defaults and disable any advanced on board peripherals and try to reboot. UPDATE: To those that are following this, I have el-n00b on my TS3, and I am working with him to narrow down the issue. It appears to be a HAL registry error so we are walking the machine through a restore from 7 days ago in an attempt to purge the clash. More to come at the 10 o'clock news.............
  8. This is such a good deal, I bought myself another copy just so I could experience it all over again!
  9. I am not going to lie..... Watching that video was like watching paint dry, WTF
  10. I agree with Batwing, as I said earlier, even lessening the power load is no guarantee it will work. If the PSU was over worked (which it was based on your calculations) and it compromised one of the components (bridge rectifier, capacitors, transformer windings), then it is new PSU time anyway. Modern motherboards and PSU's look to each other for proper continuity and voltage before they will even start, the problem happens with the current required can not be achieved. When this condition exists, more voltage is drawn from the power source to compensate, this out of spec additional draw is what compromises the PSU. There may still be continuity and voltage to start up the system but as soon as it looks for the necessary current....BSOD The system not starting with one stick of ram is normal due to the fact that most systems today are at least dual channel which requires at least two sticks be installed to even start. So my "strip it down to one stick of ram" instruction should have read "reduce the installed amount of ram sticks to the motherboard required minimum". Look at it like this Noob, you were going to be building a better rig in the future, that newer rig will require more than a 500watt PSU any how, so your just buying the components in advance for the new super rig! Pickup a 750-850 and be sure it is a quality PSU with an '80 Plus rating'. For more information relative to 80 Plus and all the manufacturers that comply to this standard look HERE.
  11. Yes Noob, low power can cause BSOD. Do you remember "Hajimoto's Overclocking Session Basics Class", where I explained the largest single contributing factor to failed overclocks is low voltage? You need to reduce the power need of the machine buy stripping it down to the bare essentials (One Stick of RAM, Old Video card, remove all unessential HD, ROM drives, Audio Cards..... and try again. It is not a guarantee that it will still work as a failed PSU can still fail with low draw, but you can at least use it as a starting spot.
  12. I do not know what it is, but I do know those that are celebrating it, and for that I say .... Happy St George's Day!
  13. Dang Noobiachi, Thats not good news man. What failed CPU, MB, RAM what? You say it decided to fail right after the new video card..... you sure its not just a spent power supply? Hope to see you back here soon.
  14. A technically revised visit to some classic fun! [YT]6Q5Qa9YdeyY[/YT]
  15. Another option is Quake 3 Arena with all the updated arena maps. I hosted a Quake 3 Arena until 2/2010 so it is no big deal to fire that bad boy back up.... if you own Quake 3 Arena we should whoop on it! If there is enough interest, I will set it up.
  16. Atomic's Breach is dead! (said like L.A. Style's ) I have made my final post to the Atomic forums regarding this title and wanted to share it with all of you. Below is a screen shot of my final post to the topic "Developers silence is a death sentence" which if clicked, will take you to the complete thread on breachgame.com. These game developers just don't get it....... well... actually they won't be getting it again!
  17. Bravo Durka.... Looks like those Liberty Mutual Insurance commercials are paying off. [YT]frpp6DjCaJU[/YT]
  18. Look boys, most of us where headsets anyway.....Stop resisting and come to the land of "Damn this works nice!"
  19. Does this read like a group that has changed the way they do business??? This is on their official forums for the PC. Here are the patch notes for the day-1 PC patch for Operation Flashpoint: Red River. This patch brings the PC version into alignment with the console versions of the game. There will not be a day-1 patch for console versions as they are already updated to the latest version, however we do request you to keep sending in yourbug reports of any issues you encounter for the development team to continue working on improving the game. As soon as we have any news regarding future patches, we will of course update you. The patch should auto-update when you log in to GFWL and Steam. Doesn't this read like someone forgot to have a meeting with the janitor who handles the coding for the PC? Hey Sion Lenton, never again dude!
  20. LOL typical Noobiachi tell others that his crack smoking experience better be good......LOL We still have some Titan Quest Immortal Throne to do dude! where ya been???
  21. Glad to read it.... Glasses or not I beat Codemasters arse for the crap they pulled! Over and over I beat your face, Codemasters!!!
  22. Yeah I know, I am very much interested in hearing the producers comments as they may shed more information on the requirements necessary to fully experience the content as it is presented in the 12 min video. I am hoping to hear things like "This scene here displays all the advanced graphic capabilities in todays video cards such as........... Damn this game looks good.... I'm drooling over here!
  23. I completely concur with El Noobiachi's assessment. The 4870 X2 is a true performer, providing the catalyst drivers and performance profiles are complete for the gaming title that you are playing. All ATI/AMD Multi-GPU owners should have RadeonPro installed, so that they can create their own performance profile while waiting for the boys at ATI/AMD to get around to it. The ONLY thing you will gain at this stage of the game will be DX11 and lets be honest, what DX11 game title is worth that??? As Noob pointed out, if your not moving up at LEAST 2 spots on this chart, you are tossing your money away. For clarification: Discrete = Desktop Computer Model Mobility = Laptop or other portable.
