  1. Wait... How the heck did I miss this????? Why you son of a ......... Bring it Noob! You bring it! This old man with the inferior ping will bust your ass son! Not kidding
  2. To add to this concern and possible non Steam distribution I read that there is a special campaign that will offer limited in game items to purchasers of the game from certain retail stores. Read the article HERE. I am seriously not digging the marketing strategies that are being employed by distributors lately and it seems to be where they are all headed. I find it hard to believe that they are going to offer special in game content for digital distribution sources as the retailers would be up in arms over the non exclusivity.
  3. I came across an interesting audio book that some of you may wish to utilize during those difficult nights when the kids are restless. I must warn you, Samuel L. Jackson is not the most politically correct narrator, but, he gets the job done as the books author has written it. Enjoy [YT]CFuyE_VBeO8[/YT]
  4. I am really looking forward to this title.... looks great!
  5. Perfectly stated Rooster. My move to Nvidia has absolutely nothing to do with increased performance but everything to do with day one performance. ATI has some very unique selling points like Lower initial cost, Eyefinity, Bullet physics and OpenCL but as we both have stated, waiting months for drivers, completely negates those benefits. I want to reiterate that my gripe with ATI/AMD is with multiple GPU configurations. I think single GPU builds will experience low but functional driver performance on day one but it will be months until the drivers are tweaked to realize the cards full potential. This post was started by Batwing in attempt to communicate to the community that it is safe to update your drivers to 11.5 and I do not want to diminish the message that Batwing is trying to send here which is "The coast is clear guys, I made it, it's safe to cross the open field without being wounded!" I must apologize to Batwing for being a part of the mob that hijacked your post and hope that folks can read both sides of the topic and understand that if they are sitting on the ATI/NVIDIA fence, this information is invaluable prior to plunking down ones hard earned cash. Speaking of reading between the lines, excellent reading on this subject can be found HERE at Toms Hardware.
  6. For you brother Batwing......Everything is free, always!
  7. Well I must say that my experience with ATI over the years has come to a head December 2010, I consider myself a pretty savvy driver hardware guy and the drivers from 10.8 to 11.3 have done nothing but give me heart ache. I am not talking about charts and graphs and theoredical performance curves and blah blah blah, I am talking about a huge investment in dual HD 5970's that absolutely failed to perform. I have tossed int he towel on ATI's crossfire technology and will never utilize another ATI multiple GPU configuration again. I am going Nvidia because I want out of the box performance without waiting for 30 days for the driver to catch up to the new game title I just bought. I will be running a single GPU configuration of a single GTX580 or GTX570 OC. I have learned my lesson the hard way "You don't always get what you paid for, sometimes you pay for what you got"
  8. I will look for you Batwing and If I find you I will spin my tires throwing dirt in your face as I race past you as if you were standing still.......or something like that.
  9. Looks great man. Question are there baffle chambers or channels inside that fuel tank to minimize the sloshing effect of the fuel? I cant wait to see some video of this bad boy ripping it up!
  10. Listed in order of play time invested. Evochron Mercenary Brink Shift 2 Arma 2 Dirt 3 X3 Old favorites that always get some play during the week. Quake 3 Bad Company 2 Grid
  11. I read up on this and this video cinched it for me, I am ordering it today. That is one seriously thought through design that is obviously targeted at the enthusiast gamer. Its about time someone thought of us folks that have accessories and peripherals. That headset hook is going to be NICE! Case? Huh? No dude, I am talking about ordering that wicked cool headset hanger, gonna be sweet!
  12. I only buy games on Steam that are for sale......
  13. Because I have the luck of a blind Polio infected house cat, DiRT 3 has been a night mare for me. So in typical fashion, Hajimoto went to work, here are my results. As most of know by now I have a W7 64, i7 rig with dual ATI 5970's. The ATI situation has been a thorn in my side since the purchase, Crossfire issues, driver issues, local electric utility asking me to stop tapping the grids capacity...blah blah blah. When I purchased DiRT 3 I had already anticipated a driver issue right out that gate, but I never thought that CM would produce a game that was so unstable. After every stage when i would line up for the start, the game would crash to desktop. It was not intermittent either, the crash would happen every time like clock work. Well wouldn't you know, I stumbled across a few interesting bits of information that may save you DiRTY people some headache. DiRT Crashes with Core i7 and other 8-Core Processors The game has only been tested on systems up to quad core level, however you may be able to get the game to work by renaming the file "workerMap8Core.xml" (found in c:\program files\steam\steamapps\grid\system\) to "workerMap4Core.xml" Dirt 3 is not running well on W7 64 bit. In short, steam is running in compatibility mode for Vista, un-check the compatibility mode and your good to go! http://community.cod...tml#post7094444 Today Tuesday May 31, 2011 Steam releases 612MB DiRT 3 Patch. Fixed an occasional loading screen hang which could leave the player with a black screen. Fixed a soft lock when removing the Ethernet cable on some screens during a LAN session. Battersea Compound – Parking Lot environment updated to ensure that smash blocks are always present. Resolved specific instances of the player being able to drive into areas of crowd. Corrected a rare issue with online staggered start team events which could lead to incorrect team scoring. Fixed a very rare physics issue which could lead to the player's vehicle falling through the world. Fixed two graphics issues which could lead to a crash when changing resolution or resizing the windowed game to a height of 0 pixels. Resolved an issue preventing Player 2 from re-binding their controls if using a keyboard within a split-screen event. Fixed an issue which, in specific circumstances, could lead to a spectator seeing incorrect progress during a multi-player Transporter event. Minor corrections to track boundary and reset lines. Fixed an issue which will occasionally cause the green 'infected' effect to be applied to the player's car during loading between Outbreak events. 'World Record' and 'Personal Best' symbols now correctly appear within all circuit-based time trial events. Correction to particle behavior during high speed collisions, avoiding any instances of them spawning in the wrong direction. Minor finish line adjustments to avoid the possibility of bypassing them in some routes. Fixed an issue which lead to the driver's hands clipping when in the interior camera 'brace' position. Resolved an issue which would occasionally prevent the 'World Tour' tetras from spinning within the front end. Resolved an issue which could lead to some vehicle cards flickering within the front end vehicle select screens. Adjusted a small number of text references and menu options for the 'VIP Pack', which should be referred to as the 'Free Car Pack' for PC. Various stability fixes. Please note that there were no ATI changes, so most of the issues I was experiencing may have been due to the W7 64 and Compat issue. I will test and post my results. See ya in the DiRT!!! It might have to be DiRT or DiRT2 LOL. UPDATE: Game still crashed at the start of the second race or stage. I edited the XML for 8 Core to 4 core. Going to try the STEAM.EXE in VISTA compatibly mode swap and try again. UPDATE: STEAM COMPATIBILITY BUG (Right clicking on STEAM.EXE had a permanent checked box but grayed out box) To fix the issue: Hit start->run->regedit Go to key:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers Look for a entry with your path to steam.exe Delete that entry If you dont find it there try HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers Game performance like a dream now....WHEW now I can eat dinner.
  14. Tried to connect multiple times and nothing. Be sure that you forward 3888 TCP and 3887 UDP to the server box. Hajimoto's server has been up and operational since Thursday afternoon. Feel free to stop by and whoop it up @ 71.192.141.252. EM does not support host names only IP.
