  1. Delta, Before you spend any money for a new HD, you should solve this issue. If the problem is your motherboard, either with a failure on BIOS or on the HD controller, adding another HD will not solve the issue, probably it will not see the new one exactly as it not sees the old one. Do you have a chance to take a picture with a cam of you screen when you look at your BIOS? If you can and u can upload 2 or 3 shots to let us see what your BIOS says, that would help to figure out your problem. Good luck.
  2. hehehe Cust !! that s exactly what i thought when I saw it !! however, taht is way too much for me.. lol, it scares me a lil bit too hehehe hmm.. Great for ppl with special needs, u know, big hands, abnormal position of their thumb.. a lot of adjustments to accomodate that bio-tech sixth finger you got installed on your hand.. yes.. true.. But for common ppl with quite standard hands... hmm.. i still like my Razor .. at one third of that price
  3. Panic is totally on the ball as troubleshooting path to follow. Most probably Bios is working fine, so no need to really downgrade it. you can check some other instances on the BIOS to see if it recognize your CPU, right speed, right amount of RAM and so forth. If all the rest of your system is right, has to be some setting on the Storage configuration. You never said if you were using a RAID config on that system. RAID is a weird beast and ahs to be configure correctly to have it working fine. In general "no operating system detected" is really related to the HD connection and the order in which devices go for the bootstrap. Check you DO NOT HAVE A CD into the tray, sometimes if the BIOS looks for the CD first and there is a no bootable CD "might" get stuck on that info telling you there is no operating system. Be sure HD are recognized and SATA or IDE are correcting set exactly the same way they were before the BIOS update - RAID config are a different matter. Playing around the storage config you should find the solution for this issue, it is really a remote chance your HD went bad, so I would not proceed to any "reformat" till all hopes are gone. And anyway, if as a last resort it happens your HD is gone bad, there is no "reformat" to save the day....
  4. hey welcome ! Italian guy here living in FL, so you can figure out my accent as well !! yeah.. see u line mate
  5. Holy Shoot !! I just found this Video.. and i m drooling all over my desk.. ghhhh... I like that toy Zath !!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMDN-LdhVTk
  6. Hey Zath, love the specs of your new little monster May i ask how much it costs that config? it is really appealing to be a sort of "portable", although I believe its weight doesn t make it portable that much
  7. About the MultiCore question.. I t looks like Arma2 OA (and also Arma2) is optimized to run as many cores you have, so the more is the better. However is not only the program itself making use of multicores, it is also the Operating System being able to use multicores at the best. XP and Vista is my understanding are using MC decently, but the best is the optimized thread management on 7, if you can upgrade your OS.
  8. Yeah ! I can t wait ! After i saw the graphic used in OA, I am totally sold for this game "destructable environment".. I read a recent review, where the writer was directly comparing BC2 destructable environment to OA and he said that is not even close to be compared, however it is way more implemented than Arma2 standard. So, don t set your expectations too high about that. I give a golden medal to BC2 about that subject What I am concerned about are the patterns for the Artificial Stupidity that reign in Arma2. AI is an unkown term on this game, or you have to be a scripting engeneer to write scripts on scripts to unlock some decent behaviour to the enemy forces. I hope they made the AI a bit more beievable and realistic and possiblyy on the single player asw well. I like Multy, but i enjoy single too, and Arma2 single campaign is unplayable because your team has the IQ of a chicken before entering the oven... However, I am quite confident in OA keep finger crossed
  9. Hey Zath Honestly, when u start and u r new on this game, it can be seriously frustrating, especially if you r not used to play games at such fast speed, fast pace rythm. I am not used to these games (Mechwarrior and arma are way slower that this..) but i have to say I am enjoying the game. Newbee suggestion: Don t jump on the HardCore expecting to have more fun. especially when you are new out of the box the HC is the very wrong choice. It will give you way less points you get on a standard server and you will die at an impressive speed Standard server IMO are way better to familiarize with the game dynamics and provide you way more points (not sure why, but is true). You need points to unlock some basic feature and new weapons. My fav game mode is Conquest. I do not agree with medic about the fact ppl plays conquest with the "kill the man" mindset. either I ve been lucky or the few servers i use to play on are quite good as players. I had no chance to play too much with the fellow Spartans on the server i play on, because they are not HC, nonetheless, I found pretty simple to interact with the Squads I work with and i see that there is a decent amount of tactic and team movement on the Conquest. Too bad some maps are ridicoulously small to be Conquests, but it is still fun. Sometimess I play on server with max 16 players, so the smaller maps are not so overcrowded. My fav servers are around 24 players. Conquest is also good to achieve point not necessarely killing players. I have to admit, probably i m not that great at fast FPS, so att least I can team play with my squad, move together and focus on get flags, which is giving me a good amount of points and provide defensive and attack kills also gives some more points. You are very welcome to add me to ure buddy list Zath, so sometimes we can play together on those servers and it will help you to steam out some frustration this game invitably will give u Name in game, of course, Batwing
  10. Ok guys, got it. Now, this is considred a full install, although they call it "hotfix" right? This means standard procedure, unistall previous drivers, install new ones, i think. Ok, let s see what happens
  11. I just got the patch installed, now we ll see how that reacts in real game I ve been raped by M60 that it is only a plesure to see it has been adjusted, and well CG balancing is quite welcome too I ll let you know soon ;)
  12. I don t know, the game is going to be very well done and I will buy it right away, but regarding the AI... i don t know what to think. I hope it will be betterr than the Royal Stupidity they hhave in Arma2. I mean, the single player would not be that bad if at least the AI was playeble. True to say this game success will be multy, however we will have to fight against AI and it would be nice to see some decent reaction.
  13. Yes, unfortunately TvGorge didnt last long. Just after 2 weeks we discover it, it has been obscured becau the copyright law. So now that site is mostly useless. However, u can give a shot to Kylo browser (google it) which is a media optimized browser. It is decent, i am testin it on my mediacenter. The only good thing it has, it will direct you to all of the official internet sites for all of the major channels. No more pirate streaming.....
  14. I never noticed a delay to get on server. I m using 2 4850 CF and 10.3 Maybe is something related to class 5xxx cards ?
  15. Whiich however open another debate... We watch movies at 24 frames per second and we need to try to optimize out TVs for that. however, we are pretty happy with all of our HD content running att 24 FPS... So why in the hell do we struggle to hve games at 80, 90 and above fps ?? Theoretically whhatever is aroound 30 and steady is perfectly fine. Morover, the human eye does not see anything above 30 FPS and instead our monitors have the same problem discussed above, they work uusuually at 60 Hz, capping the best operational speed at 60 FPS, so, the more you go faster, the more you have that video distortion that gives you horizontal lines when you are panning a scene left to right. Solution is forciing the V-Sync and activate the Triple Buffering to force ggames to respect the 60 hz. So really, thhe reason why you want to have a supe-dupe videocard, is not to push an overloaded quantity of frames on your monitor, but to be able to run the Max quality annd effect possiible at a steady 60 FPS. Also, iif you achieve a steady 30 FPS your eyes will be very happy as welll (and you don t need to activate the V-Sync)
  16. very nice video, finally i know why my next TV will be 120Hz, i was not totally sure so far If Ii do understand that concept correctly, i do not even really need to go over 120Hz, because the perfect calculation match on that.
  17. And about the Media center software... I find the media center on Win 7 perfectly fine and nice to operate. There are other free media center software you may want to look at, I tested some, but they are not that much intuitiive to use, especially when you set them up. Also, you might takke a look at thhis new free internet browser, optimized for TV use. It is called Kylo http://www.kylo.tv/ annd is pretty nice. Ii am testing it in these days, it is interesting and is free, if you don t like it, unistall it ! lol.. a very cool feature Win 7 has is the zooming option. Click Win and + or - together annd you will zoom in and out your screen, great feature to see what the hheckk you are looking at from your couch !! hheheh Giive iit a try, it s pretty neat
  18. well that s a great idea. Using the rig u have now, cannibalizing some componets and make it a HTPC, would save you soome money for sure. Allow me to suggest u a few things tho: An HTPC can be a real barebone system, if the only thing has to do is handling media annd a basic internet surfing. What you DO NOT need: 1 - SSD - This system will be virtually empty. It will have a minor amount of applications running and is not gonna suffer and boot delay. If you hhave a copy of Win 7, it boots in 20 seconds on my HTPC, maybe less. If you have to use XP, it would boot longer, but instead of shutting down, use the SLEEP option and your resuming time is almost immediate with XP as well. 2 - Dedicated sound card - All of the 5.1 , 7.1 on-board solutiions are perfectly fine when it comes to media. What makes the difference is the Surround System you have. I can tell you the BD experience, with the on-board 5.1 and the Z 5500 is excellent, but is the surround system making the difference, not the sound hardware. 3 - a bunch of RAM - Really 2GB ram for an easy going HTPC is more than enough 4 - Hi-end CPU - Your CPU has to be fast, around 2.5 and above but don t really need any multy-thread or multy--coore, because is not gonna use 'em. It will do 1 job at the time, annd have to be able to do it well. Anything like an old P4 around 3 Ghz or some new AMD single core will do the job flawlessy. 5 - Supe-dupe PSU - This is a low-consumption system, CPU and videocard are low wattage. Buy a goood PSU just to be safe, but don t waste money in super power Now, what you DO NEED is: 1 - nice looking case - if this is gonna be a part of your liviingroom, where u have guests and ppl, is part of your furniture and appliances, find what you like and match your stuff. Shuttles could be goood solutions, but remember hoow difficult is to put stuff together when u have no room to operate and chheck for low-profile videocards able to perform, because you may have a bad surprise when u try too install a card that doesn t fit - I would go (as i did0 with an almost standard MIDI, able to be configured for horizontal standing (desktop style instead of tower style) so that is big enough to host evverything Ii need, easy to build and fit like a VCR coomponent on the media center furniture. 2 - very good videocard - this makes the difference. I would go with the new ATII line. I got the 5450 passive cooler at 40 bucks. I don t care has DX11, or Eyefinity ( lol, it does !).. This is a low end low wattage card, does only 1 good thing, MEDIA, and that s why i use it, don t try anything else, it s a 40 bucks card 3 - a great wireless media keyboard and/or a remote control - You are gonna uuse this thing from your couch, u doon t wanna have a mouse around ! You wanna have a nice looking Keyboard, still matching your style and furniture, a nice piece of tech, able to controol the full thing. I got a vvery nice Adesso model with a lot of mmedia controls and trackball, 700 buckks, probably the most expensive piece in my build, but I love it, and my guests at home are very pleased by the fact they can play around the TV like a real PC, from the couch Put all of this together, get a nice large HD, eiither 1 TB or less, depends on your budget, and a nice BD reader (do you really nneed a burner??) and i cannot believe you get a budget over 400 bucks. Good hunting, have fun ! ... Just a final note.. I was reading my post and i really do understand i have to throw out of the wiindow they keybord I have on my main system ! This ia Microsoft Reclusa keyb, spent 70 bucks on it and is the most massive piece of shit i ever got, only reasoon I still have it is because it s pretty and match my blue lights !!! hehehahhe
  19. @ Medic: Before being sold, consider this: I built up an HTPC 3 weeks ago and I spent roughly 350 bucks. I got everything from Newegg, choosing only combo deals (discount) with free shipping. Probably those deals are nomore available, however, if u dig it, u can build a nice looking piece able to perform way better than a single BD. However, u don t need a fancy machine, jsut keep component essential. I got an AMD single core 2.7 Ghz at 40 bucks, 2GB ram ddr2 800, Radeon HD 5450 at 40 bucks ( u really need it to be sure ure system play HD without hiccups), a basic MB at about 60 bucks with 5.1 onboard (and it sounds great on my Logitech Z 5500, not included on price of course), a very nice black glossy case, quite fancy and simple to live in the living room, 750 GB WD hd, good to start, a beutiful Adesso media keyb wireless with trackball onboard and a PSU 500 W, BD of course is a reader frm LG (i m not planning to burn any and i will not be able to run 3D at the moment so i kept it easy and effordable) All of this as I said roughly 350 bucks, then added Win 7 Home, and this lil baby not only is a movie, dvd and bd showcase but allows guests to surf the net, their facebook, stream from Netflix, Hulu and whatever else, plus all the music on my network and from internet, annd pictures and... u name it. I cant be happier and i dont see one reson to buy an appliance doing 1 job when at the same price I can have it all :)m
  20. i think i ll be around for a nice TAC about 4 pm EST, see you later
  21. Check this out: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...ea-5a2668a9b899 I think I''ll buy one. This is one of those things is always good to have. Simpliify your life if you have to troubleshoot an HD or just backup data on the fly. I diidn t even know this converted existed before ...
  22. Glad u fixed it, however is your "situation" you omitted the " few punches" on the keyb during ure BC2 session...lol.. Never underestimate stuff like that seeya
  23. Major problem at the moment for a build is RAM, skyrocketed and is not supposed to drop in price for a while...
  24. What do you mean with "original" ? If you talk about the 1.0 vers, i do not think a video will give you a feeling of any difference. They fixed many issues but u have a feeling of that on game. Also they added more Mechs and 1 new map I guess. If you are talking about other Mechwarrior versions of the past, yes a Video can give you some good vibe. Expect a really different experience from the MW4 franchise, somewhat closer to MW3 experience. It is very very enjoyable and team play is very rewarding.
  25. It looks like there is a new version of Lockon coming out, not sure about release date. However, they need to implement a better network interaction. It just sucks that you have to use a third party app (hyperlobby) to find someone online. Also, the few times I ve been looking for ppl, it looks like is a very limited community, I might be wrong tho. It is sad that the only flight sim out there pretty decent is Lockon or blackshark ( i dont have BS) and they are sorta of 4 yrs old
