  1. I agree in theory but short of making every night a tac night these are some things I have seen work well. 1. Having someone flying a helo that knows what the rules are, I don't see a problem with that person ferrying troops aslong as the helos are not used and left in random places and abandonded. Doing that offers a relativly swift response time for getting a helo in to pick up the group so you can move on to the next city. 2. Alternativly to that previously I have taken mortars when flying a helo I bring the MHQ and the everyone into a city and park outside at a reasonable mortar range. I will take out D30s or WP the radio tower only when requested and wait. When the city is taken you get spun up and when its clear you are in in 20 secs ready to lift people out. The particular reason I believe a system like that works very well is it helps to eliminate some of the people that get impatient and para. With the helo being there so swift thta they can see and hear it before they get to the flag amny will just board the helo. You might get 2-3 to para in. This method I felt worked very well when it was executed and got the bulk of the troops there early enough that every could get involved. 3. There is talk about what brought us to the server, I think it is the commraderie that brings us here. That and a relaxed enviroment to play and enjoy our game. When I first started playing you might be lucky to have 5-8 people on TS with a full server. We worked as small teams of 2-4 within the bigger masses. I think thats whats going to be more effective and fun for most on non-tac nights. Instead of trying to corral everyone into a single mass and hold them to a certain advancement progression let smaller teams for and move at their pace once everyone has landed. Trying to hold corral everyone and move in as a mass I think has 2 adverse effects these are a. Those not on TS will run in and take care of half the town before others get a chance to enter. b. Causes the Commander to get frustrated because people are not listening to orders, and by the time they get into town there is not alot to do. c. so maybe there was 3 =P That not being able to go in when they are seeing everything go down but conforming because thats the thing to do will build resentment and take the fun out of the game for the player. 4. I have noticed in Side Missions people are doing things more and more tactically everyday and increasingly thats where I find myself sometimes because thats what I enjoy the small unit commraderie. In closing I think something that might help is a post of what is expected and what the current rules or guidlines of regular dom. Personally I consider myself a regular and I thought I had a fair understanding of the Sparta rules and ideas, but I do have to be away for a week or sometimes 2-3 at a time because thats what my job calls for and some rules have changed while I was away. I also thing that thie post will help newer people even those that come on TS to have a better understanding of what is expected. I know there are snippets of this all through out the forums but they are disjointed and spread throughout many posts. I would be happy to help compile this masive post of rules and expectations on the SPARTA server if you request it. Thank you for your time, Grimwolf
  2. Sounds like it would have ben a good time... to bad I had duty tonight and will be underway for the next 2 weeks atleast. Ah well it comes with the job, but it does sound interesting. I am looking forward to trying it out when I get back in port.
  3. Thought it might be about time I officially said hello. I have enjoyed all the SPARTA has had to offer its a very relaxed and considerate gaming community that also knows when its time to focus (most of the time =P). I am 29 and have been playing online games for over 10 yrs now and have been around many groups and communities for many games. I am in the US Coast Guard which can take up alot of my time. I am station on a cutter and we go out every few weeks so I will disapear from time to time. When not gaming or work I like to kayak, go shooting, camping or anything else outdoors or spend time with the wife (recently found out that we are expecting our first child). And just incase anyone wants to run a tactical mission I am always willing when you see me on =P Or let me know ahead of time and I will be there. Thanks for creating this community.
  4. I like the idea of removing the MHQ or instead of getting rid of them ( for when there are only a few people on the server) just stop using them ESPECIALLY on the Tactical Fri nights. I like the chopper ferry system, because I know some nights when I get home I want to blow things up and other nights I just want to relax and fly low. That said i thinking leaving parajumps as they are is okay every 30 mins is not too bad especially when there is no MHQ you cvan para into friends or all jump together instead of waiting for the chopper but you can't do that too often. I agree completely with the chopper pilot calling out when he is at base and will be leaving in 1 min then again at 20- 10 secs.
  5. Is it possible while you have the MHQ in the C-130 to spawn in it? Jus thinking about having a mobile spawn you can HALO jump out of sounds intriguing.
  6. I love my Canons. I have a Powershot SD 630, its an older none HD version of what you are looking at. I will say I have had no problems with it and I like alot of the features. Its small, with a big screen on the back so you can clearly see what you are taking a picture or video of. It also takes great pictures when you are oput with friends or family. Fo more serious pictures though I use the Canon digital Rebel with an assortment of lenses.
  7. The fixes sound awesome MH6, ad thank you for taking the time to improve all of our gaming experience. At the risk of highjacking this further... I might have to agree a bit with Morgan it sounds like we have out grown Domination. It seems like we yearn for a more tactical enviroment and not matter how many AI you have on the other side its still AI. I think doing a night of tactical PVP with a domination flavor might be a thing to look at. Something that might be even more interesting if possible would be Domination as it stands now but is it possible to with the AI as opfor while most people are still BLUFOR? If so maybe a 20/10 split would give the BLUFOR more pause before they just rush into a town. (MH6 is this possible? (maybe not as much of a highjack as I thought)) So you can still have your 20 BLUFOR all you tanks and planes... but if you can have 10 opfor who are players mixed in with the normal AI it would neutralize alot of that advantage I believe.
  8. I think the ranked version would be interesting if I understand how it works. The higher rank you get the more gear you have avalible to you? I Like the idea as it forces people to use the small arms or to get out of the chopper once and awhile to give a hand. I do like when we all get inserted by a helo or para in and have an ammo box dropped and we move as a team with out the saftey net of a respawn. Now if we could just get people to hold fire until we can get into good positions and all initiate the attack at the same time.
  9. I usually go engineer with: M16 w/203 and ACOG, 4 clips, SMAW and 4 AT rounds, 8x HE 203 rounds and a laser designator. I enjoy working with other people as a coordinated team, baring that I enjoy the role of rotary wing pilot, though I always seem to find myself getting shot down when I am carrying the MHQ in.
  10. X-wind, to be honest that M1 carbine I shot my dad traded for a garand when I was oohh 16. It has been some time since I shot that rife, though I do remember it being .223 I know I sat on that press long enough to reload all the rounds I went through. It could have been a barrel change, or a just a replica sized to a .233 though my thumb would aagree the it was accuate enough. (I learned a few times why the M1 was called the thumb smasher) As far as realoading goes I was luck in that my dad taught me and was passed down some of his older equipment so I have pieced it back together over the years. I personally have always used RCBS, dies, presses and primers(but again mostly hand downs). Though more these days I only reload of small game rounds. If I am going out to plink with some friends or I hunt Alaska big game then I usually buy since I don't like to load rounds that hot. Looks like X has you pretty well set up, if you have any other questions I would be happy to help.
  11. Sig makes some fine weapons, we recently switched from the venerable 9mm Berreta with the Sig P229 DAK .40 cal. For those who don't know the DAK is a Double Action Only (DAO) that allows you to keep pulling the trigger if a round miss fires the first time. Its show that about 60% of missfire is due to the pin not striking the primer hard enough. Anyways lets just say its nice in the military/law enforcement applications. And just to clarify for you the M1 carbine is a .223 cal/ 5.56mm (they are alot cheaper to reaload that my .30-06 rounds when you want to do rapid fire. I do enjoy shooting the AR-15 as well, with us we do zero in on targets at 25 yrds at the range. Wehn we do sight in though its on the "100 yrd" targets, you know the ones that they say simulate a target at 100 yrds.
