Ok..so awhile back some of us were having some with domain names. I bought a handful of OFP2 domains just for fun, etc. The other night I was bored so I tried to see if any ArmA2 domains might be left...(right! like thats gonna happen!)...and I think I found a good one. The domain still has to propogate, and I still have to add some content, but the site is here: http://gazoo.net/arma Once the domain is setup it will be reachable at http://arma2files.com I have a little ad for Sparta on there as well..hope thats okay. Motherboards are not built for a specific OS. Manufactrurers will build conponents with the system requirements for an OS in mind, but there is no motherboard in the world that will ONLY run Vista, or XP or whatever. All that 'compatible with vista' stuff is marketing crap.

GTX is the better choice.. any Nvidia series with S in it is the economy version, pretty much.

Hey Grump... glad you got things moving along. Ive noticed that the ArmA DOmination server seems to start filling up around 1pm Mountain time... so about 3pm Ontario time..somewhere around there. As you noted it is never written in stone but its a good start... just look for Halli, he always seems to be first on the server... ahahah!

Im thinking thats the original patch 1.02 release before the graphics fix was added. You might also want to try the special 58134 update (even tho it says you are already at 1.02 it might actually work its magic for you too). EDIT:

Hey Med! Quick tip re: the special patch. When you install you will get a message stating you are already at version 1.02 but it will work its magic anyway and the AA will be accessible.

Terrific news Grump... the D2D version 'should' be up to date though Cylawyer had a situation where one or two of his graphics options would not be accessible until he had patched up with a special release 1.02 patch. Perhaps Halli or someone else could post the link to the special patch. Basically they released patch 1.02 and then re-released a slightly updated 1.02 patch with a graphics fix in it. I never had any issues with the D2D version but some have and this solution worked for them. Otherwise sounds like you are good to go. Congrats!

Yeah starting from scratch really sux.... hope you can get it sorted out easily.

The problem I was having was with the DirectX audio file and wasnt really related to this. Spent some time on Google researching the error message you reported Grump... and it seems like you have: 1. A trojan or virus or malware. (May be part of a malware/spyware package that is on your system or was actually detected by your system but incompletely removed). OR 2. Corrupt windows files. Microsoft acknowledges this error message and after a very very long procedure of checking registry entries, the autoexec.bat and other areas of the operating system they suggest re-installing windows. I did a search for "NTVDM CPU" and found many possible instances of causes/fixes for this. Might be worth re-formatting and re-installing Windows as that seems to have cured the issue in both instances above. Your mileage may vary.

Does your machine meet the minimum req's to install and play?

Hi Forrester! Yeah ArmA2 is a great experience, especially with the calibre of players from our respective groups. I know there are plans in the works for an ArmA2 Team vs Team scenario, but I know I sure would enjoy an "ArmA2 Coop Invitational" evening for folks from Sparta and other groups to get together regularly. Dunno if anything official is planned for Coop (dunno if anything really official is really needed)...there are usually lots of us around looking for some coop matching most evenings. Perhaps someone else has more info on that. Hope to see ya round when ya get back...

To satisfy the so-far stated requirements I am envisioning a TD map with one team spawning far away from the Defenders town/position. The 15 minute restriction for allowing the Defenders to set up could be simply enforced by a travel-time requirement for the Attackers (and be more realistic). Give the attackers a mobile spawn they can move up into the position they want and let them use their own strats for that. After the initial travel time the Attackers are then in either a good position to continue attacks or crap position, that is up to them. This also gives the Defenders the opportunity to force Attackers to regroup by destroying the mobile spawn if they can find it. (if they are that good... Set the map to a 75 minute time limit to allow for the travel time, restrict access to sniper weapons and let 'em loose on each other...

Really enjoyed running with all of you... it was a great group, everyone seemed to understand the need for teamwork and actually did work together very well. The arrty pieces drifting slowly down via parachute into the middle of a hot zone is an image I wont soon forget (we thot we were calling in an arty barrage and a chopper came along and plopped out an artillery piece dropped by chute...it slowly floated down to the coords designated for an arty strike....) ..... good times, good times... Hope we see a lot more of you (and bring friends)....hehehe...

Not really my cup of tea (in my experience these types of matches invariably turn into sniper-fests) but I wouldnt mind trying it out to see how it goes. Count me in.

Update your driver or download the newer control software if you want to try the control panel tweaks. keep in mind though, those tweaks are meant for a different series of cards.

None of the tweaks above is going to give you astounding performance all on its own.... a few extra frames per second maybe. Slightly smoother game play, that sort of thing. The first tweak is aimed at users like me who have the new GT series cards (I have the GT 120...an OEM version of the 8800 GTX)... you are not likely to get much benefit from it since you dont have a GTX (The GTS is the economy version of the 8800) and there may be enough differences between the two that your card doesnt see much improvement.
