Well, EVE folks tend to be secretive and so on, due to the nature of the game. Ya can't have peeps listening in on your carefully laid plans, locations, strategies. etc. Its all very cutthroat and mercenary-ish cuz thats how the game is...

Heheh thanks bud... Ive just started lvl 2 missions.. built myself a mission runner but still having trouble finding lvl 2 agents with a decent quality score. Built myself a salvage ship, works real nice. Ive got a decent hauler, and of course my Hulk for mining, so lot of options there for helpin out. So, after 7 or 8 months of learning. skilling up and mining my face off, Im starting to expand into new areas of the game like mission running and manufacturing, and so on. It is slow and there really isnt a social aspect in it for me, since I just run around by myself and do stuff, so I would like to find a home where there are occasionally people around to chat with. If there is a spot for me in the LOSC effort that would be cool, if not then thats cool too. Ive done alright to this point...

Tried the re-install but the 1.05 patch wouldn't go....kept erroring out. Prolly for the best though, I really shouldn't be playing Shooters anyway. Think I was just hit with a wave of nostalgia... Anyway, I am in Eve most evenings, if anyone needs a hand with mining or refining or whatever, my game name is Gnosh Master. I'd love to help ya guys out if I can. (Im heavy on industry skills and workin on some mission capability at the moment)... was nice to see y'all again. /salute

So there we were... 6 of us huddled on the smaller ARMA2 map, nestled into a small copse of trees and tall grass atop a small hill overlooking an enemy fort. Patrols to each side of us... armed technical patrolling the road back and forth... We'd taken out the bulk of the tangos inside the fort that were near the entry on our side. I spotted a sneaky-bastage-sniper making his way towards us and the fort off to our right... he disappeared behind a wall momentarily and then I caught sight of him poppin his enemy ass out ever so slightly from the corner of the wall. I held my breath and filled the bastage full of lead. He fell over dead and I was elated! My only real solo kill of the day! Huzzah!!!! One minor issue... It was Durka.

If there is functionality coming, or available within the game for this type of a role I'd be all over it. Used to do this sort of thing very informally with the Arti officer interface (some may recall that). Find a nice safe hidey hole and try to provide an overwatch of sorts to fireteams entering and operating in the towns while I waited for my Arti to become available. No idea what Maptools are or what they will do but it sounds kinda intriguing... I'd prefer to not lose eyeballs..and everyone who knows me knows I'm all about supporting the team and stuff... so I will have to look into this a little more. MorganDog1

Been reading about the TacDom nights a bit in a couple of other threads and it seems like it might be slow and methodical enough that it would be something I could participate in. I think I am going to reinstall tonight and give it a shot tomorrow, if there are no objections to me tagging along. If it turns out to be too much then at least I can say I tried... I appreciate the invite Halli, thanks much.

Heheh... well its not so bad...I play a few games like the Civ series and my old copy of Starcraft... cant play even Solitaire though... the green ;table top' color is almost an immediate migraine inducer. if ya need an extra body in Eve gimme a holler, Id be happy to help..not getting too far by myself.

I would love to join you but sadly I am no longer able to play most games. Shortly before I left I started having vision problems and would often die in ARMA2 because I did not see stuff. Long story short, after semi-successful eye surgery on a detached retina I can only play slow moving games, and not for really long periods. I play Eve a bit as that has pretty low key images and the action, such as it is for a minin' foo such as meself, it not exactly intense.... I really wish i could join in.... was reading about some of the modded stuff.... genius at work for sure! I sure do miss you guys... lot of good memories here. Stay well.

No this is coming from the same guy who wont drop arti on a blank map for fear of destroying many many teammates. No this is coming from the same guy who's role in regular mode includes recon and a degree of overwatch via direct observation AND via map information for plotting troop and vehicle movements, and tracking said movements so that I can A) Pass intel to squad, Make a better educated guess as to where enemy armor may currently be since the mapo is rarely exactly correct. In veteran mode, I get to play solitaire. In any case, not too impressed that you chose to pull portions of a conversation out of a PM and splash it here. Thanks.

Yeha Im getting it... I think it should be pretty awesome. If it isnt, then the whole Battlefield Simulator sub-genre of shooters could be doomed to fade away.

umm..yeah that was my next guess....really...

GR has one but I am somewhat annoyed/shocked/disappointed to see one in a game that is supposed to be realistic like ArmA1/2. Threat indicators arent exactly the sort of thing most soldiers carry around as far as I know. Perhaps it will be tied to difficulty level... maybe hard mode wont have one.

You will find the setup for the page file in the Adobe options/preferences/whatever it is called. Allows you to set the path for the page file and some other assorted stuff... Filesizes can be tricky in Adobe (At least in something like Photoshop)... the program keeps several copies of your project in memory at any given time... a simple TIFF file that renders down to a 50kb Gif file or JPG can be several hundred meg while it sits in RAM. If you have multiple projects open it can get a little hairy...

Yeah looks like a next-gen super duper ninja circle thingy... had a feeling! Heard rumors of one being in the game from my pals in MI6 and the NSA. Very hush hush stuff you know.

Make sure you have the Adobe page file set to a seperate drive from the operating system.. that one thing is the cause of a seemingly endless series of problems in Adobe. You might be amazed at what that can solve... Adobe is uber harsh on RAM and uses it like mad and just about any other resource especially when you are working on large (filesize) projects. You could be seeing the result of a stick of RAM getting flaky under load, or a pagefile not writing properly and dumping out, or a lot of possibles. Food for thought perhaps...

Will keep an eye out for it Ath and thanks for letting us know it was on... its pretty common in Canada, we have Canadian versions of a lot of the American cable networks and its normal for the schedules to be pretty different.

The show did not air on the NatGeo canadian channel... sadly otherwise rational and intelligent people believe in UFO's, Sasquatch, OgoPogo, Nessy, Alien Abduction, crop cricles etc.. this is just the nutjob flavor of the month.
