Thanks for the info Viii, the files external name is =RTY=PilotRescue[edited].Sara.pbo I dont know what the internal name is but Dai has done this succesfully before so i assume its ok. I have uploaded the file to server 2 so they will be able to test it soon.

Another reminder, do not go solo on server 2. Do not make unilateral decisions that the whole team has to pay for. If you have an idea about a different approach to a situation, by all means share it but do not "just do it". Why bother with all this you may ask? Well we talk about enjoying tactical play, part of the tactical play is to formulate a plan (as a team), then implement the plan. Not to spend 20 minutes discussing a strategy only to have someone do something else. We all make mistakes (I know I do, lol), but please try to stick with a plan or explain why you want to modify the plan and get consensus or the squad leaders approval. I dont always agree with the leader, but unless I make a mistake or misunderstand I follow the leaders instructions. I do this because I had my chance to put my ideas forward, if the team didnt think it was an optimal solution I go with the agreed plan. I know I am ragging on about this, but the message needs to get through. A plan involving stealthy and slow infiltration can be fucked up in moments by overambitious advancing, wasting all the time invested and leaving the infiltration team in a precarious position. Despite the tone of this note, the quality of the gaming has improved significantly. Particularly with regards to join in progress. I have found people joining an existing mission without exception have made efforts to grasp the situation, always ask what weapons they should choose and where (and how) they should approach the group. This is both courteous and respectful and is much appreciated. The biggest downside to missions is finding a time when people can get together, a smooth join in progress make that concern redundant.

I think the pilot spawns partially in a building, his legs are damaged and ultimately he bleeds out. But he cannot follow. If his position could be modified I think this problem would go away.

A few thoughts about 2 OS drives. -All applications (Games, spreadsheet/wor processor software, antivirus etc etc) will need to be on each drive -Documents, files, movies, music only needs to be in one place (either of the boot drives or indeed a seperate drive) -The F8 method for switching drives on boot is only valid until the next boot, the PC will revert to the BIOS boot drive order on reboot. So you should choose the OS you primarily use and set it as the number 1 boot drive in the BIOS priorities and use F8 when you occasionally want to use the alternate OS. The advantages. A boot failure on one drive does not leave you incapicitated since you can boot to the alternate operating system. Like X-wind said, mixing 2 OS's on one drive seems dodgy even to a layman like me.

No you dont need to unplug the second drive, I change the boot drive from the Bios or by pressing F8 which asks what drive you want to boot from. Installing the second drive does however require that all other drives be physically disconnected (just unplug the sata cable)

Go with the dual boot idea on 2 seperate hard drives. I have 3 pcs setup this way, Viiiper also has at least one of these setups. If you need help just give us a shout.

I dont know if anyone has told you this snow, but it could be a boot sector failure not a complete hard drive loss. If this is the case, install the new drive, set up windows etc. then plug in the old HD as a second drive. If its a boot sector failure all the other info may still be there and legible, then you can copy from the old drive to the new one and indeed continue to use the old as a secondary drive. This is a much faster way of recovering data than from external (non sata) drives. Good luck.

I think that so long as ideas are presented, considered, accepted or rejected, it doesnt matter who is in overall charge, so long as someone actually does take that role. I am happy to follow you or anyone with a clear overall idea of what they want to do. I really liked the grid reference idea, we need to do a post about that it is really helpful.

An interesting problem came up yeasterday. When we attack a small group we count in the engagement (ie one person countdown 3...2....1... shoot then everyone shoots. When I did the countdown and shot, the american players heard me shoot on 2. This means there is a 1.5 - 2 sec lag in TS. We may need to do it so that everyone opens fire when they hear the first shot.

Guys we have 3 servers, server 2 is for tactical play. That means noone does their own thing (a thing of which I am guilty of from time to time). Dying in game even once should be considered unacceptable, dying many times makes a mockery of tactical play. On the nights you want to have fun doing what pleases you please use the evo or dom servers (even then dont spoil the game for others by needlessly initiating contacts that compromise others). Server 2 is for team play, by all means share your thoughts about how you think we could best approach a mission, but get all players on board for your idea before initiating it. This is not addressed to anyone in particular but I think server 2 should epitomise our tactical ambitions.

TBH to some extent I think its the game, not your rig. When we play COD or GRAW you dont have such problems. My rig is up there in terms of processor and is no slouch in the Graphics Card department either but traversing the gun is sometimes slow online in ArmA this is a real pain up close. You were having more probs than me with the desync though, but I wonder how much of this was down to the server which ultimately locked the mission up.

The more I play the more I realise that I am more adept at long range sniping than assaulting (Particularly in ArmA). I did enjoy the silent assaults, simply because all targets are identified and eliminated simultaneously without giving our position away. but as soon as there is a short range engagement my life expectancy can be measured in seconds. I dread town clearing. I wish I could do missions with a silenced M4 with an ACOG optic, plus an M107 in a backpack.

very nice enjoyed our mission tonight. I think its the first time we played for hours (maybe 3hours) without losing a single life. Excellent.

There are people playing arma every night pretty much. The only server with a required mod is server 3, where we play domination (modded by Viiiper) Evo can be played on server 1 without a mod. Welcome back.

Bloody nightmare. I have built 2 gaming rigs. The first rig wouldnt boot at all. It turned out to be the expensive, allegedly match tested Corsair Dominator ram. The second "gaming" rig would play any games, that turned out to be the expensive 8800GTX graphics card. Frustration is parting with your well earned dosh to build a quality rig, but finding it doesnt work. A true Hmalet moment.

There is no I in team, lol. I said we and I was working with Floyd. But in anycase its our pleasure.
