    ArmA Revive Maps

We have found a source for ArmA maps that are either modded or written initially to allow in mission revives. There are various vintages of both the revive and spectating scripts and some have a few eccentricities that must be worked around to fully enjoy these maps. 1) Use a 'vanilla' instance of ArmA to run these maps (ie no mods). This is an 'until further notice' situation as we hope to be able to find a fixed set of mods that everyone can run which doesn't gimp up the revive function. If you have added anything directly to your 'addons' folder ArmA has still been 'modded' and may cause problems. Please avoid this by using the 'mod folder' technique which allows mods to be loaded via command line switches. This way you can have different short cuts that target the same 'clean' ArmA installation. When on a revive map simply use the shortcut without any "-mod=@xyz" switches and you'll be good to go (-no splash and -maxmem=xxxx can stay). 2) When you are 'dead' and waiting to be revived stay on your own spectate cam. Do not try and look through someone else's eyes. This is a known glitch in some versions of the revive script so please stay on your own spectate camera until someone can get to you for a revive. It won't be long as you're very near your team mates position anyway......aren't you? 3) If you get your kit from the 'Group' tab on the 'Briefing' screen....please only take the gear ONCE. This is not an ammo crate so please take a minute to decide who will carry what kit and then select it....once....and move on to enjoy the mission. Remembering these three basic things will allow the mission to start and flow as seamlessly as is currently possible: 1) No mods (yet) 2) Stay on your own spectate cam 3) Select your kit once from the group screen pre-game (if available) Not all maps have these restrictions but to avoid any frustrating 'false starts' please follow these guidelines. If this changes everyone will get the word as soon as possible. If you have any questions just ask..... Thanks and enjoy the new maps!
  8. I was on most of the afternoon but didn't see Benji. Is Wednesday the only day he may be on? In any case I'll keep an eye open for him and of course he and anyone else is always welcome to join in the fun. Hope you're enjoying the time with Dad and we'll see ya soon.

    Mods

Extended Event Handlers This is the most current version I could find. Some mods clearly state a requirement for XEH. Others may have been tested unilaterally and still need this to coexist. I don't see a downside other than a variation may have already been installed by a mod, so perhaps we can begin with everyone D/L'ing and installing. What do ya think? . . . . I'm currently testing: -HiFiFX (nice sound mod) -Scope fix (reticles) -Sight Adjustment (aka Sniper Mod) -ArmA Effects (visuals) -Range Finder (Laser Designator as Range Finder...this is not testing well and will probably be dropped) -View Distance (Stand Alone version of 6th Sense feature) All in mod folders and loaded with command line switches. And I do have v1.9 of the XEH installed
  12. They pulled the other vid so in the meantime I hope ya don't mind a bit of Satriani.... 'Always With Me, Always With You' Link Enjoy
  13. Yea ArmA is such an enormously complex piece of code it certainly pushes the technology envelope and can be a bit eccentric. Certain disciplines and learned behaviors will help minimize these frustrations but sometimes things just line up against us and Murphy owns the moment....but just the moment. Bounty Hunters has been successfully run several times and requires ONE key discipline. - Select your kit once and leave it be. Shuffling about in the group screen prior to mission launch guarantees a disastrous start as was witnessed yesterday. Added to that was my HDD crashing and you just have to shake it off and keep moving. No worries though.....we all live and learn. We will be around today, tomorrow and next week trying to improve the experiences of those that enjoy this genre. Regarding long range shooting......practice and lots of it. There are Boot Camp and Sniper Range missions that can be run on your local machine to assist in improving your skills when not in the heat of battle and there's always folks around to help out in between missions. Trying to hit a moving target is extremely difficult under the best of conditions. I don't think the stuttering is so much tied to the absolute ping value as it is to dynamic changes in ping (eg DSL connections like mine) along with very high amounts of activity on a large map like Liberation. I have a relatively low ping and see the same stuttering that everyone else sees. Smaller maps with localized activity is the best way to manage it currently. ArmA II will support multiple core technology and we have high hopes that this phenomena will be minimized. We have heard reports where certain combinations of rigs and connections makes it difficult for the game to sync but this is difficult if not impossible to prove and/or eliminate. Games like ArmA are a marathon, not a sprint and sometimes the gratification isn't immediate. Keep the faith, practice the skills you aspire to be good at and join us whenever you can. Always good to see you. Cheers
  14. Great to see you in game Target and glad you had a good time. Hope to see you again soon.
  15. Why a smaller drive? Just curious if you thought there was something inherently wrong with the larger drive. X
  16. Greetings Target Practice and welcome to Sparta! The ArmA servers are currently running version 1.14 and all of the patches can be found at this link: ArmA Updates Look forward to seeing you in game.

    My car

Beautiful ride Zeno.....congrats. Don't let the black paint worry ya. It's all about proper materials and technique. Swirl marks are from using improper materials in a circular (no-no) pattern. I'm sure the manufacturer has recommended kit for the job and nothing looks better than black when it's done up properly. General idea is presented here: Enjoy those new wheels!!
  18. All the best Vii! Many Happy Returns

  20. One example of four man fireteam movement in an urban setting: Intersection Crossing Notice how the positions shift on each bound. 1 covers left foreward as team advances then sets covering right rear as 3 2 sweeps right, moves up and sets covering left rearward finally becoming rear guard 4 3 repeats sweeping movement forward then sets covering forward as 1 4 repeats movement then sets covering right as 2 So it's: 1-->3 2-->4 3-->1 4-->2 Memory aid for this movement: If your beginning position is 2 or less then add 2 to determine next position. If your beginning position is 3 or more then subtract 2 to determine next position. Every other bound will return fireteam members to initial positions. Everyone in a four man fireteam has a 90 degree arc of responsibility (360/4). Every member should know where the arcs of responsibility are and automatically set in the proper position. This and other team movements should be practiced until it's second nature and fluid regardless of which position one is in. Again this is just one example in one circumstance. Missions continue to improve.....good fun.
