  1. Taking advantage of the sales to get a Blu Ray player I now have 5 remote controls in front of me TV, Amp, PVR, BR, DVD (still need for MR and Divx) so am thinking an all in one would be nice. Anyone recommend a universal remote to help me declutter?
  2. Happy birthday Custard, have a great day
  3. Err, read the thread a bit further back halo.... I see they recommend turning on UP'n'P on your router to enable you to host (I presume the install puts an exception in the Windows Firewall - I haven't checked) Are there any security concerns with doing so? I did find a list of the specific ports needed somewhere online so I may just forward those (there were quite a bunch of them though)
  4. There seem to be loads of TPs on Steam so here's my profile link Steam Profile
  5. The Spec Ops are fun in an arcadey way and I woudln't mind trying the co-op ones with a willing partner sometime. Levelled up to access the hardcore modes tonight and thank f*** for that, softcore was driving me crazy. Lag has been more noticeable tonight and the matching/lobby system also playing up more than the last two evenings.
  6. Well, slightly ashamed to say that I picked this up on an impulse when buying some food in Asda yesterday showing a complete lack of willpower and backbone. I do wish it had a Dedi server option but it impacts me less than clans or people who only wish to play with those that they know. I'm used to just hopping on random servers. Played for 4 hours or so last night, mostly MP. Lag only noticed on a couple of occasions. It seems little different graphically from MW. Steam is still a right PITA at times. Not having 'Lean' functionality is also a pain esp. as Special Grenade is mapped by default to one of the lean keys. Can't get used to Softcore mode - HUD, etc as I only ever play MW in hardcore. There are hardcore MP modes but you need to attain a certain level (19) to unlock them. The maps seem fairly varied but it's too early to call these properly. Nothing yet as annoying as the dogs in WAW and spawning BS seems less of an issue here than in WAW also (I know they were different developers). Single player is still fun if v predictable and the Spec Ops mode (playing single missions, either solo or co-op) also seems like a good way to waste time.
  7. I cancelled my pre-order from Amazon yesterday. I'd still like to play the SP but I am happy to wait for the prices to hit basement level (as they soon will without a decent MP infrastructure) I haven't really gotten into ARMA2 for various reasons, mostly as I like to play in smaller chunks of time than that game demands, so I was really looking forward to MW2. Looks like I'll be sticking with COD4 for a while yet.
  8. I haven't been available very often for gaming on Friday evenings recently so I dropped in for my first session last night and pretty quickly wished I hadn't . The comms was spiky to say the least (I didn't help by transmitting when I first joined, apologies for that) and my inexperience in the game left me not really knowing what was expected of me and the general atmosphere left me unwilling to ask for advice. I dropped out for the simpler and more immediate gratification of some COD4. I think if I do intend to join in future nights of this kind I really need to put a good few hours in beforehand learning the fundamentals of ARMA2 so I don't feel as clueless.
  9. Happy Birthday to the most cheerful man in online gaming
  10. Decision made for me - the GTX barely fits in the case and it requires an extra 6 pin power lead (which I have somewhere) and the existing 6 pin lead doesn't reach to where the connectors are on the GTX (I routed it around the back of the motherboard) so I have taken the easy option and put in the much smaller 4770 which I can connect up without any need to re-cable. Am liking what I am seeing so far :-)
  11. Typical, I get both cards arrive - my warranty replacement and my new card - on the same day! I got a 9800GTX OC back from BFG and my new card is a XFX Radeon HD4770 so I need to think which is best to install. I see the BFG card needs 2 * add'l power connectors suggesting it'll be more of a wattage hog than the 4770. Which would you go with?
  12. Too right. I have had to go back to the consoles under the TV for the first time in months. I did have some fun with Zelda Twilight Princess on the GC last night though am ashamed at how I end up looking online for the solution to some of the easiest puzzles in the game BFG are showing my card as received for RMA now so hope to be sorted soon. BTW I didn't mention in my earlier post but I finally got an RMA number by emailing a contact - marketing@bfgtech.com - who had been identified on the Overclockers forum as the goto guy for BFG problems. He sorted it in a few minutes after a week or so of frustration (including 8 mins on hold on a transatlantic phone call)
  13. Sent card on Weds so expect something back mid next-week. In the interim I ordered an XFX 4770 - cheap enough to keep as a backup if the card goes t*ts up again - both will no doubt arrive at the same time. Getting serious gaming withdrawal symptoms though
