Hajimoto
I wanted to be sure to share this with you cats. It is really rare when you have a national magazine print what you have been saying all along, but when it does, it feels soooooo good!
Halli~SPARTA~
When I first installed my I7 I found that it was set to auto and was running my games at 4.3ghz and I soon throttled it back down to 3.8 but on 4.3 with an oem cpu fan it ran flawless and cool. I would imagine that this new chip (i-7 3960) will be the cat's meow for the next couple years. So my B-day is the end of this month and ya'll can chip in and buy this monster setup for me....... Hajimoto
What I have been saying all along is the high end extreme chips are not worth the money. The Intel 3960X is $720 more expensive than the 2600K and offers gamers no performance advantage. The ONLY advantage to buy the 990x or this 3960X is bragging rights or running office applications, which in this arena of gamers, means nothing. I also completely disagree with the PC Gamer (See this related Hajimoto Post) article as it relates to RAM prices. Below is an example of 32GB (4 x 8GB) 1600 RAM for $289, which by the way is what I paid for 8GB when I built my i7 a couple years ago. I would like to share some results of a head to head comparision of the two chips doing what most of use would be doing with it ....gaming. Based on the performance results of the software we play is there ANY justification to buy either the 990X or the 3960X....NONE!

EL_n00biachi
I would deny it too! he did say it during a 1981 microcomputer trade show in Seattle....he also said 32bit computers would never be built and that the internet is just a "pasing fad"...its a shrewd businessman but hardly a visionary....the world would have been so different if it was Kildall&Jobs instead of this thief&Jobs.
