Possible starting kits - ACE or not

I start this thread connected to a Zeno recent post:

 

Weapons and Ammo in the ACE box

 

I have been asked to create a seperate box for the most commonly used weapons that regular players can go to in order to save going through tthe long list of weapons in the main box.

 

I can add a serverside box for the commonly used rilfes and ammo.

 

A serverside box has a muilitples of each weapon but as each player takes from the box the number depletes for everyone else.

 

Would you like this?

 

If yes, can you guys get together to make a list of the most commonly used items

 

Besides this option, I am suggesting to modify the starting kits of each one class, to simplify and speed up operations.

 

Having my Fav kit already loaded on my charachter when I start, would be so very appreciated. In fact, no one of the pre set weapons or accessories coming at spawn are any of my fav and i have to strip it down at start.

 

So, to give you an example, I love playing as an engineer and this is my general Kit:

 

Engineer

ACE:

Mk 16 TWS with GL - 4 30 Stanag and 6 grenades - SMAW with 3 rockets - Standard rangefinder w/1 battery - no NV

 

non ACE:

Mk 16 TWS with GL - 4 30 Stanag and 6 grenades - SMAW with 3 rockets - 249 TWS on backpack w/ full ammo load - 1 satchel

 

If you would like to put your Fav kit related to the class you use, may be Zeno could preset something to make you happy when you start.

 

Then of course you can stop at the Box anytime and change whatever you like.

Batwing, I suspect that every player on these forums would like a different starting loadout and I think it would be a can of worms to start trying to edit every starting kit and it takes a long time to, not only to add the new kits but then to tweak them just right.

You like a TWS - I would never use a TWS. You carry 3 SMAWs, I would only ever carry 2. I would never carry another fullyloaded 249 on my back. And I would not pack a satchel bcoz I leave that to a Demolitions Specialist.

 

Im one person and our kits would be very different. Multiply that by 30 players and you can begin to see the difficulty.

I do agree with you Light, however that is just an example and is for a Engineer kit.

 

I know other ppl who mostly uses Medic kit, they tend to load always the same kit and I am pretty sure at the end that kit is very similar, just we never talk about it.

 

2 or 3 classes may have a sort of preset based on player preferences, other classes may just require the player to definetely choose their kit.

 

If this is something ppl sees as a problem, i mean scrolling a huge list on the ammobox, either you provide a starting kit closer to their need or you reduce the amount of weapons available on ammobox. Or.. you just leave it the way it is and whoever is complaining for a long list, just suck it up and use the scroll and find their own fav :)

 

My post is just to see if there is a preference and a kind of common weapons used the most. If ppl answers to this kind of poll we might be able to see what is used and what is "never" used and possibly remove it from the long list.

 

I have to say I am fine the way it is. Now I know where my fav stuff is on the list and I don t have a problem to scroll it :)

This will just add unneeded strain onto Zeno. The amount of time it takes people to kit up is trivial.

 

Takes me less then 40 seconds to kit up and thats with having to change out the standard ammo with SD on Ace server. Arma 3 Needs a save kit feature built in that remembers what you like lol.

 

One thing that I would be appreciative to would be to add Ear Plugs to all standard kits, that is about the only thing that is needed by 90% of players.

i'll agree with donzi on the earplugs thing. i'll have to propose that on dev-heaven.

 

as for preset kits....no. while it sounds good to you batwing, we don't always play the same slot every time we join the server. some days i'm in a MC slot, some days a team leader, some days a medic. i know i don't carry half the gear you do, and my kit varies from mission to mission. therefore, a preset kit that may be awesome to you, causes more work for anyone else who joins that slot. or, everyone has "their" slot, and it happens to be one class. if they want to play a different class that day, then they have to change all the kit anyhow. on top of that, you open the door to someone getting pissed that you are in "their" spot.

 

a "save gear" function would be much better, if it wasn't bugged so that every time you are revived you get all your gear back. i remember the days of that being abused on the public server to resupply in the field, instead of securing a spot and calling for ammo.
