Samurai~SPARTA~ Posted February 17, 2008 Share Posted February 17, 2008 Well, I can't get my PC to boot....keep getting one long tone that repeats after a few seconds... I've taken all the components off and reseated them, still no joy. I think one or both of the DIMMS maybe bad. With one or both in, I get the long tone. with the other only, I get a single tone then nothing... Of course it may be the Mobo... I'll take it in to work tomorrow and see if an expert can help.... I am an amature at this stuff but I would look at your Video card/VGA slot carefully. No power to a vid card or failure of one will beep the failed test without a Post message. Don't forget to check your power supply. They are notorius for causing problems that are hard to find. Still gotta get it home and try to re-register windows. Ordered some new RAM for tomorrow... Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly. Repeating (endless loop) Memory error Check for improperly seated or missing memory. 1long, 3short No video card or bad video RAM Reseat or replace the video card. High frequency beeeps while running Overheated CPU Check the CPU fan for proper operation. Check the case for proper air flow. Repeating High/Low CPU Either the CPU is not seated properly or the CPU is damaged. May also be due to excess heat.
