Tried out boarding with the recommended set of upgrades (only one Exceptional) to test the mechanic in 152XP missions

In 2 battles I capped 5 Renomme 2 Surprise and a Cerb it is shockingly easy, when Sam is able to build my St.Pavel I want to test it against 1st rates with some assistance :D please

If anybody needs a basic Frigate/Cerb/Renomm/Trinc etc just shout this is too easy

A single 1st rate capture returns 337k ish

Edit

I recommend you try this with a Constitution first in 135XP fleet missions and practice capturing the smaller Frigates types like the Rennomee and Surprise

I now use my Buccentar in 200XP solo missions and 186XP fleet missions.

Boarding Setup

Captain should have the Press Gang perk to collect crew from captured ships

Ship Upgrades

Barricades - This is a permanent upgrade not craftable (I do not have this)

Marines - Normal upgrade not craftable (I have GOLD)

Sword Fighting Handbooks - Normal upgrade not craftable (I do not have this edit i do now it cost me 1 million)

Hammocks - Craftable (I was using BLUE I now have GOLD)

Boarding Parties - Normal upgrade not craftable (I have GOLD)

Grog Rations - Normal Upgrade Craftable (I have PURPLE)

In Battle

At start make sure you press 9 to get preperation to 100

Get enemy ship and your own to sub 3.1 Kn and board

When Boarding

Ensure when you started boarding (by looking at your options) you have Attack as one of them and NOT Counter-Attack

AI will choose either Grenades, Deck Guns or Brace

If AI chooses Grenades then stay on Brace

If AI chooses Deck Guns then Attack

If AI chooses Brace then Attack inside last second

Do Not press X and transfer crew to captured ship

There was a hotfix to the Press Gang perk it will (I believe) only replace up to 100 of your crew from a capped ships crew it will not as it originally did give you more crew than you sailed into battle with.
