Forum issue - no new sign ups?

I was just letting halli and noscream know on TS that the forums are not peritting new registrations, not sure if that is intentional or not.

 

I have a 16yr old nephew who is a good lad, just built himself a gaming PC at xmas and is looking for a good gaming squad. Anyone know of one? :op

We turned that off nearly a year ago due to spam bots. Ask any admin on TS and we can sey up an account for you.

 

We may review adding that back in now that we are on a new version of IPB which may have better ways to avoid bots.

We turned that off nearly a year ago due to spam bots.

 

There are ways around that without restricting potential new members and signups, we've managed to reduce spam bot signups at gr.net to virtually nil thanks to two simple techniques.

 

Firstly we set up a simple Registration Question, like "What year is it", secondly we activated the crowd sourced anti-spam measures that comes included with these forums. Job done
