Well i went away to a health spa for a few days and when I returned my modem (through which I get internet and telephone) ahd packed up. I have been waiting all this time for a replacement (which hasnt arrived yet) by accident I found a shop that sells these modems hence I am back. A recent pc rebuild meant that I lost a bunch of contact numbers, this has been remedied. I am back.

HI Athlon great info on the FPS and thanks for keeping us up to date with the latest and greatest techno stuff. There will always be those who challenge claims, but through these discussions, I think we end up more enlightened in these matters. So keep the info coming. Thanks.

I will be out this weekend but hope to get started next week. I was apologising to snowshoe, because although she loathes ArmA she is a great team player and enjoys true tactical FPS games, especially OFP. But its just not practical for us to dig out OFP, whereas many of us have ArmA. ArmA has always elicited strong reactions from our group (hence the title of the post) but it would appear to have been the cause of troubles in other groups as well. People will chill, this is like a summer shower compared to the TEMPEST that was unleashed when some people started playing Eve Online.

Also, keep in mind we are only thinking about doing this for one night a week. We always were going to run a small locked server space.

Sorry, there will be a small group playing arma until the second versions come out.

Right, for now we will install up to 1.14 with no mods. We need to figure out a strategy for queens gambit. We need a list of participants zeno Floyd Zebb UST Medic Samurai Custard This will be a low key familiarisation project. The games will be coop on a passworded private server initially run from local pc's We will develop a short list of add ons and identify the order in which they will be installed. Apart from zebb everyone hold on the mods. Thanks to Zebb and Mutilator for ongoing advice.

I think we are talking about a handful of people playing the old game, I would'nt want anyone to spend any real money. I for my part want to get the hang of it before the new one comes out, because frankly I was low on the learning curve when I tried before. When OFPII or ArmAII come out and you choose one I will be in it with you.

Europeans will need, 1.05, 1.08 and 1.14 Then we will need Queens Gambit. Zeb and Mutilator will help us build a mod list. It will take a couple of weeks to sort out but at least we will be able to get into the swing of it before the new version comes out. Hi Athlon As you know we are a multi game group and everyone is not obliged to play all the games the group does. I dont want anyone to spend money on ArmA as it is an old game that is soon to be replaced. However everyone is welcome to play. All games have limitations but I know this game has moved forward a lot since I played and I am looking forward to trying out the latest mods. Arma and WoW caused a lot of problems in our old group and yet here we are playing Eve and Arma, the difference is this is one group with one standard, it was never the games that caused the problems it was the manner in which the group was managed in relation to each game. We are a group of buddies that play computer games, it doesnt matter what the games are or even if some of the games dont please some of us, hopefully there will be one game amongst the panopoly that will be what you are looking for. All I can say is testing, testing one, two , seven, ungalie Bungalow.

Many of us here long for more tactical, more cooperative play. Over the last couple of days there has been a growing interest in Arma2 and OFP2. In our previous incarnation many of us were forced to play Arma, and frankly this went down poorly, some completely refused to play the game (in my case I just sucked at the game). As you know here at Sparta you will never be told you have to do anything. We only do things we enjoy here. But over the last few days the very game that we detested ( because of the pressure on many of us to play it) has become a focal point of interest. So I have reinstalled one of the 3 copies I have owned over time and patched it up to 1.14, 4 or 5 of us are doing the same and we will designate an Arma Coop evening. There will be no obligation to play and hopefully those with the knowledge will remember enough to be able to share with the rest us. As you know I play for fun with like minded people, I wont take any game too seriously, but will follow orders to the best of my ability. The two guys in viiipers post embody my attitude to gameplay. I like COD4 and will keep playing it on the crouch only nights, but I wouldnt mind playing a mission that takes a couple of hours, requires a plan and where players have specific roles (as Mutilator described in his post). So there you have it, against all odds ArmA is coming to Sparta.

I never cry 'cos I'm 'ard. But I do occasionally get dust in my eyes, lol.

Welcome to our forums. At the moment we run a 20 minute GTR2 race every Sunday. We like everyone who races to join us on Teamspeak and this is a mature gaming group so you need to be over 18 to do so (our TS IP number is 66.29.87.135:8072) We add mods such as F1 and WTCC so you will need to download them This weekends race requires the WTCC mod available here: http://www.legionofspartans.com/forums/ind...hp?showforum=80 and will be run on a stock track. We are using the 1.1 version of GTR2 I will not be able to race for the next 2 weeks but hopefully there will be others who can. I think windows corrupted or a devlish little virus got by the AVG. Thats why I went for the reformat and reinstall. Funnily enough a reformat every now and again is fine by me. I have backups of most things but you tend to only reinstall that which you need thereby eliminating the tons of accumulated clutter. The 2 raptors are out of their cage it is staggering how hot they get. It must be worse when they are stacked in their cage with 3 other drives in a room where the temp is 27C COD4, EVE and GTR2 are reinstalled. I will reinstall GRID. Holding on Crysis, Race 07, Arma, GRAW, GRAW2, Dirt, R6 vegas, Supreme Commander, zero Hour and generals, IL2, BF2, BF2142 and Quake wars enemy Territories. Need to install TS and some other admin stuff Will be ready for this evening. Once the setup is complete I will repeat the cycle on Raptor 2 (or a 500gb drive ) using Vista as the operating sytem, so that I have a dual boot and an effective backup if one drive fails.

Ok I have reformatted the C: drive and am in the process of reinstalling everything. Once done and defragged I'll make the true image.
