  1. Fair enough. Still looks like a solid system. Hope you like it!
  2. While I agree with you Lighty, Zeno made a good point tonight (in an actual verbal discussion) that the main problem with the debate being on the forums is that things get lost in translation. Words lose context and tone, and we lose some of the humanity of the players we're discussing. While in text it sounds like these players are the scum of the earth, in reality I really don't mind either of them personally. Everyone on both sides of the argument are generally agreeable people. It also looks bad to others looking in. We look like a community full of in-fighting and scrabbling. That being said, I still believe it was a worthwhile discussion. It's an issue that has sort of been the 600lb gorilla in the room that nobody has really brought into a full discussion. Ignoring it isn't going to solve anything. I believe we're a mature community that is able to handle a mature discussion without bringing on personal attacks. Nobody is going to be punished for what happened on either side. However, part of the solution is that Zeno (or another senior Sparta member/admin) will now be joining in on the late night sessions to help set the tone of the game. What I got out of the verbal conversation we all had was that in the end, majority still rules. And while the offenders were by no means being asshats, they were still detracting from the team experience, especially on a map like War in Takistan. If it were domination, would be a totally different story. WiT absolutely, without question REQUIRES a working, coordinated team. This doesn't mean strict comms, limited weapons/gear, or any other hardcore tac mumbo jumbo. But it does mean a single team, unified, and working together under one plan. Even if that plan ends up sucking. It's a part of learning the game and learning to accept their leadership regardless of their experience. We're all here to have a good time with friends. We've got a good thing going here at Sparta and I'd hate to see it fall apart.
  3. Very similar build to mine. Gotta say im really happy with it. I'd strongly recommend dropping the extra cash on a 2600k, but the 2500k isn't bad. I'm assuming you'll update your gfx card in the future as well.
  4. It's still an agreeable, friendly place n00b. Those that we had disagreements with in-game are still on good terms. Honestly, it comes down to this: From now on, those that want to play on a higher level of difficulty with a tight, disciplined team structure are going to have to play on the Tac server. I know that we don't want the team divided into "cliques". But to pretend there isn't a clear divide between consistently disciplined players and occasionally disciplined players isn't the right path either. Nobody thinks they are better than anybody else because they want to play a game a different way. But the fact of the matter is that the majority of the time, the server is typically ruled by those that want to relax, talk casually with friends and shoot a bunch of AI. There's nothing wrong with that. But those that want to be focused and serious wait until late at night or end up not playing at all. The fact that the admins aren't regularly active on the server doesn't help. Nobody is the bad guy. We just need to set clear, defined rules for each server. If this event occurred on the Tac server, it would've likely ended swiftly in an instant kick. However, since this didn't occur there and it occurred in our casual server, the rules are different. And us Tac guys need to respect that. Majority or not. Rooster, out.
  5. Well, when somebody is elected as CO/admin, when that person gives orders, regardless if they are sound orders or not, you're expected to respect their orders and follow them for the sake of working as a team. Like I said, the argument of whether the orders were bad or not is a moot point. If following orders is considered "pushing people around" well, then I honestly don't know how to respond to that.
  6. Glad you liked it Fatal! Yeah, haven't seen you in a while. I still owe you some Last Stand too, lol.
  7. Actually, I kinda think that's a great idea that you inadvertently came up with Gunthar. If we all voted on how many (and which) days WiT would be in rotation, on those particular days the rules enforced on the server would be a tad more restrictive. I'm not saying lock down the comms, have a 10-15 min brief before playing and dictate what players can and cant use, but at the very least allow the CO and designated squad leaders to have a bit more saying power and approach the map in a much more realistic and strategic manner. Have the WiT days sway more to the tactical side. Or, since I know everybody likes WiT in some manner or another, designate certain days that WiT will be on Veteran difficulty or higher, and in simulation mode. I could definitely support a compromise such as this. Thoughts?
  8. Cool beans. I totally understand with what you're trying to capture though. I still think its possible with some structure. Like I said, a good reference is the PC Gamer US podcast. I understand that they have quite a bit more resources and news on hand than us, but really the only "structure" they have is Segment 1: Talk about game "x", interlude, repeat. And you can replace game "x" with any topic or question. They also have listener questions that they answer, but thats something more popular podcasts are able to do. I think Viiper put it best, that it sounded like a collection of experiences and not a solid discussion. Thats totally fine for a few minutes here and there, but while the talkers may be engaged, you have to think about the listener too. Think about the guy who has no idea who you are and are listening to this for the first time. Share funny stories and cool experiences, but keep them quick and concise and keep things rolling. You don't want the listener to lose interest 5 minutes in. (If you're wondering why I criticize hard, went to college to be a producer, lol. I want to see you succeed.)
  9. Sure Zeno. Like I said earlier, I have absolutely no personal problems with any of those involved in the incident. It's not a personal attack on them by any means and I wish for no bad blood. It was just a little disappointing to see. We made it through the rest of the night just fine and had a lot of fun. To me at least, if somebody is voted leader I'd expect everyone to respect that. If there are those that disagree with the leadership, I have no problem with them if they don't want to participate in his plan. There is a mercenary team on WiT. I'll be on TS in a bit, hopefully this can get sorted out before it blows up into something much bigger.
  10. Yeah, I really think the only thing lacking in the podcast is structure. I'd listen to the PC Gamer US podcasts for a guide. Basically has an intro that gives a quick overview of just about everything thats going to be discussed, then they do about 15 minute segments on each subject with a short music interlude between each segment. Something as simple as that can really make a difference.
  11. I don't mind being a grunt. Just let me know the day.
  12. I'm on a roll here people! Watch on YouTube for best visuals (1080p). Also read the description for full information on the events that took place before-hand. Enjoy! P.S. - There's some good laughs you wont want to miss at the end.
  13. I know I've only been back for a short while and I know this is still sort of a running debate. But it needs to be discussed. War in Takistan is a real blast. It's a lot of fun and requires a lot of teamwork. Along with teamwork it also requires a great amount of discipline. This isn't as much of a discussion about WiT as it is about team etiquette. For those who were online tonight, I think we understand the situation that occurred. Without getting personal or naming names, I'll explain in short: the players elected a commander to lead them without any initial vocal objectors. Everything was fine until the CO started giving orders and laying out a plan for the next mission. Some vocal objections were made, which are perfectly fine. However, when the commander turned down said objection/alternate plan, the objectors decided to ditch the team and run off on their own without communicating with anybody else. Regardless of the events that took place afterwards and whether or not the CO was making bad decisions, this type of mindset is... disappointing. I know its not Tac Saturday, but the style of play we all voted to play was hijacked by a minority (1 or 2 players). If people want to play WiT in a non-tactical, lonewolf, arcade manner, that is totally fine. But why do the players who don't want to play that way have to be bothered by it? (our overall team score takes a negative) These aren't side missions on Tac Dom. My intent is not to start a flame war about individuals or any sort of personal attacks. Whether the elected CO/admin was making sound decisions or not is a moot point. The majority wanted to follow and play his way. You can have disagreements, but in my eyes we should be playing together (and dying together, lol). It's not like the tactical guys hijacked the server in the middle of a group's mission. It was something the majority voted and agreed on. We even waited to play until late at night so as not to bother the arcade guys. I'm just not convinced all of the Sparta community can handle this level of teamplay required for WiT. I'm not saying take it down, but it seems to me people still want to play the game like Tac Dom side missions and not take teamwork seriously. I know that in the end it's just about having fun playing a game together, and for each of us that means something different. But why is it that the tactical guys get one day a week to do our thing and the rest of the week we're at the mercy of the regulars? Does voting someone being a CO/admin outside of Tac Saturday mean nothing? Discuss! EDIT: As a side note, the overall night was still fun! It certainly wasn't all negative. But this one instance really put a downer on things.
  14. Anon has not taken any responsibility. Trust me, they wouldn't shut up about it if they had. They'd be sharing the lulz for about a week before returning to gore porn and anime.
  15. CAW CAW .. CAWCAW.. CAW! CAW CAW CAW CAWCAWCAW CAW. CAW! XD
  16. Fatal: Nope. ;) Why do you ask? EDIT: Thinking about re-installing After Effects and doing a kind of "realistic" type video. Make it look like it's filmed from a helmet-cam (that sort of "wall-eye" vision). I'd do it on one of our tactical days and disable the HUD (is that possible?). Now, if only there was a way to film the game with just game sounds and record the chatter in TS3 seperately, but still be able to hear both simultaneously....
  17. Nope. All music was from the CoD4 soundtrack (Hans Zimmer).
  18. XD Yeah, delayed reaction. Did a double take irl when I saw it right in my face, haha.
  19. Check it out! Warning: Language NSFW (I swore a few times, lol) Hopefully I'll make more in the future that are a bit more cool, but I think this turned out OK for Windows Movie Maker, lol.
  20. Similar situation occurred to me last month. Lost my wallet and couldn't find it anywhere at my apartment or in the car I rode home. I was convinced I lost it at my friend's house when I blacked out. I nagged on him for days and didn't believe him when he said he looked. I was about 20 minutes away from driving over there myself and turning his house upside down when I found it buried in my laundry basket that I tipped over. I texted him and told him I found it. He called me a moron. I probably deserved it, lol.
  21. Yeah its those two expansions. I think there's SOME new content in it, but I'm not sure if its just new content they've patched in since their initial release or not. Don't quote me.
  22. I'm surprised it wasn't even Evan writing it. XD Good for PC Gamer. Seemed like an honest review to me, the game deserves nothing better. Looks like total crap.
  23. Man, can't wait to try this out, sounds like a great challenge from a leadership perspective. I'll have my new PC on Monday, hope to see you guys on the battlefield soon thereafter!
  24. Yeah, good film. Watched it a couple months ago when it was available to stream on Netflix. Idk if it still is anymore though. More personal and candid than most of the stuff that comes out of Nat Geo. Worth watching.
