Radioshack smartphone sale

Recommended Posts

Well, I think really Radioshack is to keep an eye on, they come out with very interesting sales:

Photon 4g at $100 instead of $200 ($300 - $100 later rebate)

http://www.pcworld.com/article/238155/motorola_photon_4g_gets_big_price_cut_to_99_at_the_shack.html

Now, true to say we are almost there. Sammy has a big announcement on Aug 29 about finally the SGS 2 release, however, if we look at a barely Effect-to-Price ratio, Photon 4g comes a bit short of the SGS 2 on performances but at $100 is an Amazing deal.

Engadget pulled out a decent Photon review here..

http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/15/motorola-photon-4g-review/

This is a big dilemma. I got so close to the SGS2.. I think I ll wait the announcement on Aug 29. If Sprint will give a release date after Sept 15, screw it and I am gonna buy a Photon.

I am tired of all this delay bullshit....

Viii was that sarcasm? as in; they are already dumping all of the old "shit" ??

I dont know what happened to Motorola, over here it was pretty big from the late 90s up to 06ish... like Nokia you hardly see anyone with a Motorola or Nokia anymore...well at least not the younger people.

*happend or happened??? woow i've been using happend for years lol never knew it was misspelled....not my only spelling mistake even with a spelling checker!lol

Yeah, I saw the big Googl-Otola news yesterday :)

I am not a big fan of Moto anyway and I don t think the Radioshak sale is anyway related.

It s nice tho that Google and Android univers can use the Moto patents in the future to mitigate Apple in his run-to-nowhere, when they cannot do anything better than lawsue someone when they make a better product....

There is no limit to the shame to Apple. They got a German judge to ban the Galaxy Tab 10.1 based on a flawed injuction (manipulated pictures)

http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/15/did-apple-alter-photos-of-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-in-its-inj/

And right now the ban has been lifted due to "inconsistencies".... I would love someone to provide a consistent kick in Jobs ass...

Motorola use to be big in consumer mobile phone tech (1990s) but they were overtaken by other giants (Nokia etc).

Motorola might of been a good buy for Google because it holds many patents in 'LINK' technology (the systems that link other systems via hard and soft links).

Motorola was forging ahead with the ability to link your mobile phone with laptops, pads, T.V. computer, car and area, with Steaming, Data relaying, cloud & protocols. Apple has Apple TV, iphones, Imac's & istore world but Google might be looking at motorola's link systems to expand Google/ Android world. They hold patents with all their tech incl. security protocols & software link software.

Google + Motorola could be the perfect launch pad for Android's next phase.

Motorola owns approx 17,000 Patents (yes 17k) + 7,500 Pat. Pending

http://androidos.in/2011/08/google-gets-17000-patents-from-motorola-deal/

I wonder if Apple is going to kick up an 'Anti trust' debate....

Back in 2006 Motorola was No.2 in the world (due to the Razr phone), Nokia being No.1 how times have changed....

Here is a typical Motorola patent

Motorola Patents 'Solar LCD' 2007

http://www.treehugger.com/files/2007/05/motorola_patent.php

Working with OLED... (nice) Charging you phone from sun light or office light while laying on the the desk.

Back in March 2011 Motorola sold 74 patents while still holding the right to use the technology royalty free....

http://www.osa-direct.com/osad-news/445.html

Motorola invented the Cell phone (the brick) so you can see how they will have patents on this world.

It was the 'DynaTAC' Zeno use to have one !!!! lol around 1984, later they made the small brick 'MicroTAC'.

They invented the flip phone (clam shell), they made the iconic 'Razr phone'

They are big in backroom tech.

Back in the 90's Motorola was No.1 with Nokia No.2

I would say with the spec of the Motorola Android & price of $99, BUY BUY BUY,

it's Dual core 1Ghz, 1Gb sys mem, 16Gb app memory & all the Android toys....

The Samsung is $500 v $100 Motorola and there practically matched......

Well, Vii... the 2 devices are close to each other, but the priice gap is not so big as you think. Here in US, carriers cut the price of the device down with the 2 years contract handcuffs, so is very realistic thinking the SGS2 will be on a price range of $200 (vs $100 Photon), making it still very appealing.

Another aspect holding me back about the Photon is the sub-par 8Mp camera perforamnces. Samsung camera is Wayyy better.

At the end to me is not really the possible 100 bucks price difference but the over stressing delay factor for the SGS2, which is becoming quite ridicoulous.

Other thing, I was not able to see if the USB on Photon is a USB - host, and we know how important is that aspect.

O, I did not realize, handcuff contracts....

Host Usb is awesome, I have the lead on my keyring & 2x 16Gb USB drives (I could not afford a 32Gb usb stick).

here's a couple of pics from my S2 (reduced to 1024 from 3000+) of my keys showing the USB blade drives by Sandisk & the patch lead from ebay for $3 (the sammy stores photos just like a camera, in a DCIM folder).

48Gb (16+32Gb micro card) on phone + 2x 16Gb on sticks
