He had a tv show= American hot rod. He ran a socal hot rod shop that costom built hot rods for costomers that had a bunch of dummys working for him. Kind of like Orange county choppers. Well you can't live forever. Im sure his legoned will live on, RIP fellow wrencher. He will be "cruseing the strip in the sky" wile listening to the Beach boys. Athlon64~SPARTA~
A big loss for sure, on the hot rod subject a couple of bigg car shows to go to is the permona swap meet. In permona calif You will find just about any thing you want there. And the turkey rod run in Daytona is the next biggest car show, And you will find what you are looking for there. Includeing all the costom mfgers there in bodys, rolling chassies, engines, transmissions, ect. Put it this way if you wanted to build a rod like old Boyd there, you can do it with some time and alot of money, Say you want to build a custom 55 chevy belair, well it wouldent be origanal but with all new gutts. you can do it. Or if you don't want to spend the time, Wonder down to the car corral and buy an origanal. They will be there.
