  1. We have the technology, we can rebuild you... Our Arma tactical server (S4) is a coop only no revive one life deal that relies heavily on tactics and teamwork, but we also run another server (S3) which has things such as re spawns etc running. Currently we are waiting for all of our guys who want to play Arma 2 to get the game before we set up any servers but I'm sure we would have some guys who could give you a few pointers once we are up and running. In the meantime I would suggest this guy as a good place to start: http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/

Or you can do the same as me and just use your Arma face put it in your Arma 2 user folder and that's it you can see it in the screenies I posted the glasses still work it as well.

    No Bloom/Blur mod

Some people may find the motion blurring and bloom a bit too much and I read somewhere that you will eventually be able adjust it in the settings but until then this mod does a good job at making it less obvious and can increase your framerates, maybe take a look if it's an issue for you. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=5851

    Screenies.

Your right, the game looks great and plays probably better out of the box than the original Arma did but we need to get all the good stuff from the communtiy for it to be better, I see that the 1.02 patch has already been annpounced but no date yet and ACE 2 is in the pipeline so I think it won't take as long to get this version where we want it. I'm looking forward to getting some HAHO insertions into a nice desert map looking this good in the future..
  8. I'm presuming that you guys know all about him, his guides have always been top notch and this one if definitely worth checking out. http://ttp2.dslyecxi.com/

    Ready to go

Arma 2 installed and ready to go, anyone fancy a quick look online tonight?.
  11. Pity they couldn't deliver the equally promised demo, nothing changes..
  12. Happy Birthday Zath', have a great day mate..
  13. Lol, "Lone Survivor" is the other book I have, it was recommended by X-Wind and your right it is a great story, again I was a bit surprised by some of the decisions made during that action, but I wasn't there so trying to second guess guys in the ground is always a bad idea. This was the version of "Roberts Ridge" I bought: http://www.amazon.com/Roberts-Ridge-Sacrif...n/dp/0553803638 I haven't the "Not a good day to die" version I am going to look for "House to House" right now, thanks. Edit: Result I just found it in my audio books on iTunes so I'm downloading it now and will listen to it on my way to work.
  14. Too true mate, Afghanistan is definitely a difficult AO to fight in, I especially dislike the use of IED's out there that seem to be the offensive weapon of choice for the Taliban right now, they obviously don't want to get into too many firefights with coalition troops and an IED is the perfect way to attack a stronger enemy without taking too many casualties. I guess you would have read about some of the US actions over there such as "Roberts Ridge" etc, where they ran into big problems high up in the mountains, I have them as audio books and listen on my way to and from work, I don't understand some of the things they did or why they did them and would love to discuss them with you when we get a few minutes on TS, maybe you would know a few more of the finer details. My wife does exactly the same thing, she just switches off now when I go into one about the wrong kit, or tactic being used, old habits die hard I guess lol I guess you remember the days of having so much gear packed away in your "bergen" that the weight of it made it too heavy to lift and you had to lay it down the ground, climb into it and clip it all up, then get a buddy to pull you to your feet so you could walk about with it on your back all day while carrying your weapon (we even had no slings because you had to carry it at the ready position at all times), bloody great thing weighed a ton, let alone the weight of the ammo. My joints remind every day of those fun packed days..
  15. It's all good mate, it's not so much bringing up old wounds as it is reminding me what an old git I am and missing this sort of action, I enjoy watching the Iraq stuff because no matter what super duper gear the military gets it's always the poor bloody guys on the ground who have to get in there and do the dirty work, same as it's always been down through history, every generation of soldiers have their own dangers to face and comparing what I did to what the guys do today is always interesting. Perhaps I get more out of it because I did serve but that's the nature of the beast, it's hard to explain to someone who hasn't done it and in all honesty I have no desire to even try, and for people who know about it all too well they don't need to ask.. Military history is a topic I have been studying for a while, just as a hobby, especially the experiences of the guys on the ground, my families military lineage goes back to before the Indian Mutiny so being the eldest I never really had much choice really lol
  16. Will they bring out an addon so that you can call them in the morning if you want?.
  17. Glad you got to see this Durka, it's a pretty accurate account of what went on during the conflict, a lot of the public over here don't realise how close we came to losing this one and we had some luck on our side, the fighting was very intense and included a lot of hand to hand stuff when it came to taking the high ground. I don't know about you mate but personally I don't watch a lot of the documentaries etc that are made about the Falklands it seems like it was another planet away from my life now and in all honesty I tend to think that may be for the best, but I have seen bits of this series when it was shown and it seemed to be on the money. Btw, look up a place called "Pebble Island" that was one of my first engagements..
  18. Count me in Durka, all we need now is to get some of these desert maps imported into Arma 2.

Not played much recently to get any screenie's but here are a couple I grabbed last night from Dai. Original: Tweaked: Original: Tweaked: Our flaming chute issue in case you haven't seen it yet: Misc:
  20. Understood Medic and you have highlighted one of the main points of my original post which is please take the time to prepare you own individual games and keep them current and updated. People, make sure that you check the forums whenever you have the time and see if anything is going to be required or patched that you need in the preceding days and not, as often happens, the night you decide that you want to join the server and then find that you can't, 99% of our regular players do this and anyone new who wants to join will need to do the same, it's not a case of "now is game time, see me in a few hours or tomorrow, it's more a common courtesy when joining anyone's server, I certainly wouldn't go to another teams site without checking the relevant forums for the game I want to play and ensure I was all up and running before trying to join there server, and that's all I'm asking for here, as I previously stated we will help anyone who needs it but not at the expense of all our other guys who have done the ground work to play and then sit around in the servers while we do it. I know you appreciate what a drag that can be Medic when your all ready to go and then nothing happens for an hour or even longer sometimes. I like the idea of a formal installation session and if people would find it useful then I'm sure we can organise something. Thanks for taking the time to add your ideas mate, it's appreciated.
  21. Np mate, we normally post the link to any new patch/addon in the forum so that people can download it at their leisure but advise them not to add it to their game until we know everyone has it and it has been added to the server, but if you want to agree on a time limit prior to any scheduled game we can do that.
