  1. It's going relatively well. I'm up and running just trying to iron the bugs out.
  2. This post is now obsolete and has been superceded by the ArmA 'All-in-One' post pinned at the top of this section ArmA All in One Setup Link This post is intended to reflect the current state of the Sparta ArmA Servers along with the Patches, Addons and Mods that are required to join in the fray. See the 'Download Section' near the bottom of this post for a summary of all necessary links. First is the patches to ArmA. Server 1 is running version 1.14 Server 2 (Tactical Mission Server) is running the 1.15 Beta patch. You will need this to join (assumes you are already at the 1.14 release.) Get the ArmA 1.15 Beta Patch here: Beta 1.15 Link Servers 3 and 4 (A.C.E. Tactical Mission Servers) are also running the 1.15 Beta Patch. Second Category are the Addons. Server 2 only requires the 1.15 Beta patch to join. No other Addons are required to join the server. Servers 3 and 4 requires the following Addons to join: Queen's Gambit: This technically is an expansion pack for Arma and was either included with your original Gold Edition of ArmA or it can be purchased (*). Get it here : Queen's Gambit Avgani/Afghan Village Addon (-mod=@opx): Avgani/Afgan Village Mod A.C.E. Island Pack (-mod=@ACE-Islands): A.C.E. Island Pack Lastly are the Mods. Server 2 is running Durg's Vegetation Fix and a Sparta Variant of True Range AI. Both of these are server side mods and are listed here for information purposes only. No client side changes are needed. Servers 3 and 4 are running several mods. All are required: 1) A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment (-mod=@ACE) A.C.E. v1.00 Beta 1a) A.C.E. v1.01 Beta Patch A.C.E. Patch Note: Please do not use the 'Full Setup' at this link to update straight to v1.01 (see 'Current A.C.E. Information' for details) 2) Queen's Gambit (ie -mod=dbe1) Queen's Gambit 3) MapFact Editor Update ( -mod=@mapfact_EU....change folder to this name to avoid conflict with next one) Map Editor Update Link 4) Map Services ( -mod=@mapfact) Map Services Link 5) 6th Sense Battle Center ( -mod=@SIX_BC) Battle Center So my target path to run on server 4 looks like this: "D:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -nosplash -maxmem=1440 -mod=@ACE;@SIX_BC;@Mapfact_EU;@mapfact;DBE1;@opx;@ACE-Islands This is my server 2 path: "D:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -nosplash -maxmem=1440 Your mileage may vary. *Any questions please ask. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Updated to reflect A.C.E. Status Current A.C.E. Information Both Servers are now running the same release (v1.06 beta) but this process should be followed to have the initial folder and the current release available in your installation: Case I - You have A.C.E. updated to v1.01 Beta. Step 1: Use the A.C.E. uninstaller and remove A.C.E. Step 2: Now install the initial release of A.C.E. (v1.00 Beta) to your ArmA folder: A.C.E. v1.00 Step 3: Upon completion of the initial installation go to your ArmA root directory and make a copy of the @ACE folder. Rename the copied folder @ACE100 to indicate it holds the v1.00 Beta release. You should now have an @ACE folder and an @ACE100 folder in your ArmA root directory. Step 4: Install the A.C.E. v1.01 Beta patch A.C.E. v1.01 Beta Update (Patch Only - Not Full Setup) Note: Upon completion of Step 4 your @ACE folder will hold the v1.01 Beta release of ACE. Using the ACEMod Update Check utility in the @ACE/Tools folder for all following updates ensures the @ACE folder is always current and ready for the next update as they are written to look for this folder in your ArmA root. Step 5: (Shortcuts) For A.C.E. you will simply need two shortcuts. The initial release (v1.00 Beta) will have a shortcut with a target path like this (Use this for Server 3): "D:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -nosplash -maxmem=1440 -mod=@ACE100;@SIX_BC;@Mapfact_EU;@mapfact;DBE1;@opx;@ACE-Islands The most recent release (currently v.106 Beta) will have a shortcut with a target path like this (Use this for Server 4): "D:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -nosplash -maxmem=1440 -mod=@ACE;@SIX_BC;@Mapfact_EU;@mapfact;DBE1;@opx;@ACE-Islands Case II - You do not have any level of A.C.E. installed. Use the process above for Case I with this exception: Skip step 1 and begin with step 2 Case III - You have installed A.C.E. to the initial v1.00 Beta release. Use the process for Case I with this exception: Skip steps 1 and 2. Begin with Step 3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stay Current: Once you have followed the above procedure and have the initial v1.00 Beta release in the @ACE100 folder and the v1.01 Beta or subsequent release in the @ACE folder you can simply run the ACEMod Update Check utility in the @ACE/Tools folder to ensure that folder is always at the latest release and compatible with server 4. While this may seem a bit much for those not very familiar with the situation it will take much less time to make the changes than it did to read this post. Hopefully this will help you understand both the state of the ArmA servers at Sparta as well as the baseline requirements necessary to join in. If you have tried to follow this post to get yourself ready to go but are having difficulty at any step please don't hesitate to ask for assistance. We'll be more than glad to help you get sorted. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download Section: Beta 1.15 Link Queen's Gambit Avgani/Afgan Village Mod A.C.E. Island Pack A.C.E. v1.00 Beta A.C.E. v1.01 Patch [-Note: Patch Only not 'Full Update'] Map Editor Update Link Map Services Link Battle Center ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Current Server Status: Note: Due to the relative stability of the current A.C.E. mod we have setup both Server 3 and Server 4 to run the latest releases (currently v1.06b). Server 3 can be used to familiarize yourself with the features while operating in a slightly less stringent environment. Server 4 will remain the tactical mission server where compliance with the Sparta rules is both expected and enforced. If Server 3 is not currently visible it can be turned up by any Admin/Mod with Fire Daemon access. Enjoy the new features. 5. I'm just finishing up a PC build and went with this cooler. It combines heat pipe technology and two 120mm fans with a TEC while ducting air over the RAM slots. This thing is enormous.... V10 Review
  6. This is a no-brainer.. I would have opted for having the offending part of my spine removed.
  7. LOL, hello Morgan good to see you, Sparta offers several genres one of which is ArmA. We play very tight tactics and team work is the order of the day. ArmA I is currently running and ArmA II will be evaluated on its merits when it's released. If it lives up to it's hype we will transition the tactical team over to that title. We play a no nonsense (but still great fun) type of play. If this sounds like something you would like to get involved with just get with me or Zebb and we will fill you in. I hope you find the genre you're looking for and if there's anything I can do for you don't hesitate to ask. Welcome, X-Wind
  8. Wonderful....now we get to buy new wheels every time we get tires. I..1) Don't like the looks.....2) Don't like the concept......and 3) Hope they never see the light of day. This is typical of a solution for which there is no problem. But that's just me...
  9. Live performance of Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life' featuring the incredible vocals of Jennifer Nettles and Sugarland. From another time when musicians played instruments...live....in front of folks. A special performance.. Link Enjoy --> High SPL or why bother..
  10. This one is a traditional fav... Pink Floyd Enjoy
  11. Many returns of the best kind. Happy Birthday!
  12. I kinda think the fact that the shot turned out to be amazingly fortunate was the whole point.
  13. Hey Durka! Good to hear from ya Bud and I hope things smooth out for everyone.
  14. Nice one Zebb! After you put this link up I searched for some more of his stuff and found a bit on G.Vid that's not restrained by YT's 10 minute limitation. Link Thanx Bud
  15. Huh? What year is this?? Drag me kicking and screaming into the present: xrosswind
  16. Skills, teamwork and patience under fire (reenactment)
  17. I don't know how to embed these but here's a clever video showing some studio layering techniques. A sampler, rhythm machine and a few other bits in the hands of some talent and here's one of the possible outcomes. Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now Sampler is looping approximately every 15 seconds for the layering. Enjoy
  18. State of the Fart In a fierce copyright battle with.... Pull My Finger .... ....
  19. It was good to meet you Hatchet and hopefully you get the dedi server sorted out with the Brettzies weapon Mod. Some of our other members are more familiar with that particular mod and should be around this weekend. I hope the links to the Brettzies threads over at GR.net were of some use to you and you're clan. Drop in anytime. Best of luck Bud!
  20. To my tired old eyes there's no comparison. ArmA 2 looks like a living, breathing environment and OFP looks more sterile to me. And the comment from the OFP2 devs that it was a 'cross platform' product worries me. Hopefully ArmA 2 won't try to be all things to all people and continues on as the de facto standard of battle field sims with a massively loyal and talented community already in place it should fare well....assuming it works. T don't give up yet....like Custard said it just may take a minor upgrade if that. Plus who else is going to call the arty in?

Yep...right up to the point where I decided to toss a nade and bounce it off the wall inside the tower with us... It was a good one though bud. I had a GREAT time.
