peter~SPARTA~ Posted January 23, 2012 Share Posted January 23, 2012 I have Q8400 on ecs shitty G31T-M motherboard + 2x 2GB Patriot DDR800, ati 4850 1 GB My goal is to improve performance under adobe lightroom , and gaming as well my video card stays same My PSU is OCZ fatality 1 550W i recently bought. As for hard drives i like to buy PCIE rivo drive 80 GB for OS and add to that 2x1.5TB sata 2 in raid 0 configuration for my pictures storage/database + 500 GB and 320GB SATA 2 for picture database backup + 250 GB IDE drive for additional files backup I choose Athlon FX-6100 on AsRock 970 Extreme3 /AMD 970GX, AM3+/ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157280 or ASUS M5A87 AM3+ AMD 870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131734 hard for me to decide witch is better since last AMD i had was over 10 years ago. So far i think asus have more suitable PCI slots configuration over AsRock ( i dont plan to go sli) RAM Kingston 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 HyperX Blue http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104262 I may go up to 16 GB, but had not done research how its going to improve performance IT's going to cost me around 450$ total including REVO What do you guys think? The 970 is the newer of the 2 chipsets... I just built a computer on 970 chipset and it is a good runner.... Recommend the 990FX chipset if you can afford it.
