Clear Communications is the key

haha, I doubt they would ever be fired for it. While ironic, it is actually someone catching a very common occurrence with city/county maintenance or water trucks that are watering or spraying for weeds, etc.

That common situation is they are moving slowly down the lane furthest to the right while doing what they are supposed to do along the road but when they get to where they need to turn around and do the other side of said road... you get that picture, because he is getting ready to turn around, he has switched the lighted arrow which is blinking brightly to get your attention telling those behind him to now stay right for the moment as he has moved to the left lane in preparation to make a U-turn at the next intersection.

Often they do not want to take the time to "flip the board" because they have to stop, get out... walk to the back and flip it up, then when they finish the U-turn they have to stop, flip it down... many times

this stopping and getting out to manually do things stuff gets "short-cutted" and you get that picture. One could argue the guy should be fired... but on the other hand he has a point... your adding a huge

amount of time it takes to do said job in a city especially because of the number of times a truck like this will be turning around... that is extra $$$ also so I am willing to bet there is an "understanding" a "wink" and

a "nod" on such things. In addition there are legitimate safety concerns regarding people getting out of vehicle and walking around on busy streets.

... honestly... if they just put an LED board on the back... it would be much easier and this picture would not exist... but that is $$$ and one more thing for them to maintain with tight budgets.
