  1. i is lossed - kant undastand sorrie - kan u sho mi wan dai pleez if you have to wait 10 - 15 minutes then thats a bit dangerous - by that time the drop zone will likely be crawling with friendlies. its only taking 20 guys 10 minutes to clear a village now.
  2. where do i know that name from Kos? have we crossed paths before?
  3. Big thanks to the admins always without whom this wouldnt work at all. But although Ive only been playing in the servers for several weeks there are a few ppl i want to say thanx to for watching my back, playing as a tight squad at different times, playing the game the way its meant to be played, and making the coop experience as it should be. All the chopper pilots - thanks heaps - it's not something ive ever bothered to learn and i prolly should, but without you guys we just cant do what we need to do on the ground. Take a bow! Sparta crew - specifically Halli, Morgan, Custard, Durka and Xeno - not sure if i have played with others yet aplogies if i missed you. But you guys are alway helpful and friendly and make it enjoyable as well as having a good laugh on comms every now and then. And you also play it the right way which is the only way. Scorpion - i'm not sure where i hooked up with Scorps but one day under fire i look around and there he is watching my 6 and clearing the danger for me. He is cool and calm and you know when he's at your side things are going to go well - very classy player and a pleasure to play alongside. We have a good thing going here which doesnt happen often in a server - besides the usual tactical teamwork we will also exchange magazines if one is running low, or hand over a SMAW if we have a spare. This is teamwork at its absolute best and if you can find a guy like Scorpion to partner with your gaming enjoyment will jump tenfold. thanx bro. Fish - same goes, we hooked up today on the server and singlehandedly took out 20 or 30 tangoes and 4 or 5 armor units. Total confidence in Fish and a joy to play with. I will fight by your side anytime. TAW_Blacksun - same deal but you want to watch him flying choppers - at last count he failed on 4 or 5 goes in a row to exit the airbase (due to enemy fire unfortunately) Coyote - another player who knows how to take care of business. I know ive missed some - still learning names but this is a little thank you thread for making the server work. Anyone want to thank anyone else - go right ahead. Lightspeed
  4. no denying the graphical quality. will the game be quality is my question - i hope so.
  5. just checked - there are 3 medics in the current set up - thats one per squad up to 3 squads or 2 and 1. that should be enough really if you protect the medic which should be the case - in fact you should be protecting all of your men - so no excuse really. worth looking at removing the revive even if its just tested over a few hours to see how players manage.
  6. ok folks here it is - http://www.filefront.com/14436041/Sound.rar what i've done ingame to make it simple and effective is remapped the Bacspace key to the number 0 on the keyboard. so now to initiate the radio sounds is the folowing process - type 09 and the number of the corresponding radio command - Copy - 099 Enemy in Sight - 098 Armor Spotted - 097 Enemy Down - 096 Armor Destroyed - 095 Democharges set - 094 Medic - 093 Hold your fire - 092 Target located - 091 You can see that the lower the number on the right the less quickly you need access to that radio button. Likewise, the most important messages are closest to where you can give mesg quickly and with a little practice you could roll off "Enemy in Sight - check map!" in about .2 of a second with little thought about where the keys are. ie, 098. Anyway, try it if you like and see if it works for you. Lighty.
  7. OK dooing a bit more testing - I figured out how to use Radio buttons properly. Before I used Backspace and scrolled with middle mouse - WRONG!! For those that weren't aware - Backspace > 0 (Radio) > 9 (Custom Sounds) > then choose from 1 - 9 to play message and display text on screen. I am mapping the most valuable Radio comms to the number 9 so that its simple and no hunting for the key. For example - Copy (very important comm ingame) = Backspace, 0, 9, 9 (no commas of course) Enemy Contact = Back, 0, 9, 8 I will figure out the rest of the order and post updated sound pack shortly.
  8. Ok here is the pack -easy to use unpack the Sound file to your profile folder. In game use backspace and go to Custom and you will see them listed. Roger. Enemy Contact Armor Contact Enemy Down Armor Eliminated Man Down - Medic! Democharge place - clear the area. Stealth lost - relocating Hold fire they seem like the best to use in game...and they do work in game. Download here - http://www.filefront.com/14429225/Sound.rar I am hoping to find a way to map the to numpad keys - so if you know the number you hit number and instant radio message.
  9. I WOULD BUT TIMEZONE DOESNT SUIT - DO IT ON A sATURDAY NIGHT AND IM IN
  10. i did use them a few times - i can post a link to the pack ive made and you can try them - obviously its a beta and there could be better voices and text to use. wouldnt want to use to many though or it gets complex. In OGR we would typically use the following in numpad - Copy / Roger Contact Affirmative Negative Armor Sighted Enemy Sighted Medic - could be used in Arma2 Holding Democharge Set Frag Out I could easily pack these and distribute if Sparta would like to use something like this and they can be mapped to numpad.
  11. actually while we are discussing this - one thing that i think should seriously be considered adding. No Revive or Heal - just a Medic class. Obviously we could swap the class roles at end of each or after a couple of village takedowns...but I think it would add an extra dimension and make the tactical more realistic and a persons life more valuable hence better teamwork and coordination.
  12. woops yep wrong thread - i meant to post this in the tactical domination passworded server where i think it would be appropriate as everything is done under control of a commander and using teams.
  13. actually noone can hear mine ingame so it might be a required download for each player. as it stands, it is a bit of a novelty which wears off after 5 minutes. but good use of Radio Messages ingame could be a valuable tool.

  15. was good fun and what im used to - good to see it will become a regular feature.
  16. I have tried the Rocco and Robalos Alpha Squad versions but both boot me frm the server bcoz of key issue. Having said that, I noticed some ppl have custom faces that are working in the servers. Which ones are they or what am I doing wrong? cheers Lighty
  17. whether it is included or not, that daisy cutter was impressive.
  18. OK Ive just tested this in game - the way the teams can effectively be split is as follows. When the Commander finishes allocating men to Chopper 1 (Alpha) and Chopper 2 (Bravo) he then elects a Team Leader for Alpha and Bravo. Each [TL] will create their own [New Group] and his squad will join him. Too bloody easy and should take no more then 1 minute.
  19. Not sure if the Squad Channels would work in a public server - but during the tactical games that could work. Also, maybe there is a simple solution to splitting the teams off in Arma2. Durka tried lining up the men today and picking from that - add this variation. Line up men - Sniper Team step forward to me - one spotter step forward (spotter should carry the artillery as a secondary). Go and kit yourselves up and wait at Chopper 1 immediately. AT Units step forward to me - (7 step forward) you 3 wait at Chopper 1. The other 4 will wait at Chopper 2. etc etc. Then last thing to do - everyone open your team status and if you are at Chopper 1 you are Alpha group - move into any group but Alpha group initially. Then Team Leader of Alpha will step into Alpha group first and become TL. Then everyone else at Chopper 1 (Alpha team) will follw him in. The same will go for Bravo Team..... and Charlie team if we use a thrid team. Will this work - I think it will be at least as effective as what we are presently doing, and with a little practice, will become second nature. Maybe we could try it tomorrow.
  20. It's just a disussion and suggestions - I think if the ppl who do read the forums lead by example then we could help to educate the rest. Even if we could train ppl to say to whom they are talking if there is a commander or to their Team, then give their name, and brief mesg then its already a lot tighter then before. Bravo Team, this is Lightspeed - multiples inbound from NW. (then mark it on map for others) Commander...this is Lightspeed - enemy tank heading west at 103186. (then mark it on map for others) And we could lead my example and only communicate on comms if required - cut out the random chatter where possible. It may not work, but then again, it might with a little persistence.
