peter~SPARTA~
So, My time in US is almost over . I will be here for another month closing my businesses and shipping stuff to Poland. I know i will not like it over there. I just hate this country. My plan is to take care of my wife. She is going to have another retina related surgery in November (5th one). Spend some time with family, fix some stuff on my home, wait till she recover and find other place to live. For couple years my friend try to talk me in to moving to Australia. I did not like the idea at the beginning but this sounds much better then staying in Poland and look for seasonal work in western countries. So if anyone of you fellows like to type couple words about reality down there i will appreciate it. As far as i notice housing cost are not to expensive, cars cost same as here. But how is job market? Health care? What is the best part of country to settle down? I just need normal country to settle down.
Lightspeed~SPARTA~
what work do you do normally mate? Australia is best country in the world, everyone knows that. Healthcare is good, job market good, if you like heat then move to Qld - if you like 4 seasons then prolly Melbourne or Sydney. peter~SPARTA~
Thx Lightspeed I work in construction for last 7 years as tile setter and general construction/remodeling (mostly). Before that as a graphic designer for print. Had episode in machine shop and still have all my fingers. I'm quick learner and not afraid to get dirty. Is there any website similar to craigslist so i can look around for housing and other stuff prices?I would be also interested in some sources to read about salaries and living costs. How hot is hot in Qld? I prefer something similar to California ;)
MedicSN6
Was just reading that the Queensland govt. is instituting a registration process for anything shaped like a firearm. If it is a gun made of chocolate, you need to register it. Toy guns, register them. Water guns, register them. Glass gun that is completely clear and solid, register it. The really good part is that the fines for not registering them are ENORMOUS. Anything to make some $$. EDIT: Found the link: http://www.news.com.au/weird-true-freaky/toy-guns-will-have-to-be-licensed-in-queensland-under-new-firearms-laws/story-e6frflri-1225900910503

Lightspeed~SPARTA~
under several changes to the Weapons Act being considered by the Queensland State Government. does not mean they are going to accept that particular change. but i wont start the political debate about who should have guns and how many etc. it will just get ugly. Lightspeed~SPARTA~
real estate - http://www.domain.com.au/ http://www.seek.com.au/ queenslands gold coast is like the California coastal scene i would say but you wont get any winter skiing or snow in Qld - have to travel south for that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_Coast,_Queensland sydney is much further south (about 1000km) but has the 4 seasons although mild generally speaking but expensive to live and buy housing. melbourne is very european mediterrean feel - not sure about housing prices. perth in west of Australia is also gr8 place and hot weather. not sure about job markets for your industries but i believe you can always find work in Australia if you're prepared to get your hands dirty and unemployment rate is low. Denny
Check out their imigration laws, some of the toughest in the world. They like to know who's coming and going, unlike the USA.
