Roach
Hi Spartans Background: Last month I was playing Arma2 in Sparta Big Dom and my video card (Nvidia 9800GTX) started 'crashing' ..flicker screen / black screen and 2, count em 2 Blue screens of death. Fun stuff indeed. Today the same thing happened again. Turns out NV4_DISPLAY DRIVER ERROR is common and known to both microshit and Nvidia. As per usual nothings been done. So Here's the FIX that works for me. 1. Remove Video Drivers using Device Manager 2. Before rebooting run a DRIVER CLEANER to delete any remaining files. *Driver Cleaner Pro is free and can be found here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRI...sional-15.shtml 3. Reboot System into safe mode ( Start pressing F8 during reboot ) 4. Log in as ADMIN 5. Right click START go to EXPLORE 6. Go To C:/Windows/System32 *make sure folder settings are set to SHOW Hidden and SHOW Protected files. The reason you do this is because the NV4 files are protected by windows. Why I have no f*cking clue . DELETE ANY FILES STARTING WITH NV ( 2-4 files usually) 7.Go To C:/Windows/System32/DLLCache Again delete ALL folders starting with NV 8.Go To C:/Windows/System32/Drivers Again delete ALL folders starting with NV 9. Reboot normal mode and reinstall drivers. 10. Reboot and ya should be good to go. * REINSTALL DIRECT X Too! (You will need to reset your video options both in and out of game) Ok .....That did not solve it? I Formated windows....i hate microshit.. I used this Driver and SO far it works http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp_175.19_whql_uk.html Rollback driver. 196.21 Hope this helps anyone who has run into this problem System specs: Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP3 Intel Core 2 Quad CPU @ 2.40 GHz 4 GB of RAM Nvidia 9800 GTX Edited February 24, 2010 by Roach
