Durka-Durka~SPARTA~
A great read on the battle of Marathon can be found on Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Marathon It was recently declaredby our House of Representatives (wtf?) as one of the most significant battles in human history. The reason being that it ignited a flame in Greek peoples' minds that their way of life could be fought for rather than accept another overwhelming group to rule over them. If anything, look at the wiki article for the image of the helmet found with the skull inside. Something about that image is amazing to me. Yoshi
Why the heck is the House making declarations about battles that have nothing to do with the USA? Edited January 7, 2011 by Yoshi
MedicSN6
Why the heck is the House making declarations about battles that have nothing to do with the USA? Agreed. Shouldn't our govt. be focused on the here and now?
Steel~Sparta~
Agreed. Shouldn't our govt. be focused on the here and now? The answer lies in the wiki article itself... much of the arcitecture that you intact with in daily life is based on GREEK arcitecture. If the persians had wiped out the greeks things today would likely look a lot differant.
