  1. hey, smokey, while i'm thinking about it....if you and your guys can make the PAVETAC turret script work well, the ACE dev team would probably appreciate it, since they're having issues getting the Su-25 and MQ-9 laser turrets to rotate and laze properly. just a thought, take it or leave it...

     

    also, i'd be more than happy to test this as well.

  2. i'll agree with donzi on the earplugs thing. i'll have to propose that on dev-heaven.

     

    as for preset kits....no. while it sounds good to you batwing, we don't always play the same slot every time we join the server. some days i'm in a MC slot, some days a team leader, some days a medic. i know i don't carry half the gear you do, and my kit varies from mission to mission. therefore, a preset kit that may be awesome to you, causes more work for anyone else who joins that slot. or, everyone has "their" slot, and it happens to be one class. if they want to play a different class that day, then they have to change all the kit anyhow. on top of that, you open the door to someone getting pissed that you are in "their" spot.

     

    a "save gear" function would be much better, if it wasn't bugged so that every time you are revived you get all your gear back. i remember the days of that being abused on the public server to resupply in the field, instead of securing a spot and calling for ammo.

  3. ok, though, trust me, the M14 RCO that ACE has is remarkably accurate too. the reason the graduations in the scope are off is because the RCO on the M14 was designed for 5.56mm weapons, not 7.62mm.

  4. watchman, RCO and ACOG are actually the same sight. also, i forgot to mention the SCAR variants (both Mk16 [L] and Mk17 [H] models, plus a rather unique one that fires AKM mags) that robert added.

  5. a few nights ago, jack and i were sitting around, and discussing some of the gaps in the ammobox, such as a general lack of HK416/417 variants with ACOG's. after a few minutes of discussion, and a little poking around at armaholic, we found several weapons packs by robert hammer, who actually made the HK416/417's and the immensely popular M14 RCO we use now.

     

    i have downloaded all of these weapons packs, and compiled them into one big pack. i would ask that anyone who is interested in what is in here, download the pack and look through it, and determine whether or not you would like to see some or all of these weapons added to the servers.

     

    for the curious, a very much abbreviated list of what is contained within this link follows (please note that these weapons have a very large variation of optics and grenade launcher attachments):

     

    ACR

    Masada

    HK416/417

    M14/Mk14/M21/SOCOM II/M1ES1 (all M14 variants)

    M60 (M145, ACOG, and Holo sight)

    M4/M16 (i know we already have a bunch, but they came with one of the downloads, whether i wanted em or not)

     

    also included is the pistol pack (this list is by no means complete, just a general idea of what is in there):

    the majority of these weapons are already ACE compatible, so far as i can tell. i will attempt to test them further as i go to explore the latest version of domi as well.

     

    as a last note, i would propose that we make this a one-time download, and do not attempt to follow downloads after this. this way, we don't have to play the version chase game many of us already do with ACE.

     

    download away, comment away, and, if you feel the need to, flame me (PM preferred, so that we don't disrupt the main point of this thread!)

  6. watchman, we have lingor 1.1 now. the new island is definitely only accessible with amphibious vehicles, boats or helos. zeno is going to work on giving us an AO or 2 up there sometime soon.

  7. lingor is...well...amazing. EBE, if you ever want something changed on the map, PM me. i lump the stuff together every so often and the go to zeno, so we aren't bugging him every day.

     

    as an aside, lingor 1.1 is out now. so if you all want, maybe we can get it. it has a new island added off of the main one...amphibious assaults, anyone?

  8. its great fun. myself, killerbees, gambit, warzero, frenchie, crownroyal and EMT have some rather epic brawls, and have recently started using custom maps. its quite the experience. anyone who is looking for a partner for comp stomping, or even the odd adversarial match, should holler at me.

  9. batwing, i was just on dev-heaven a few minutes ago....there's a gripe up about the TWS sights already. says they've already tweaked it for 1.8. as for the parachute/backpack bug, i'll keep my eye open over there and see if it crops up on dev-heaven.

  10. actually, durka, there's a script in one of the various insurgency maps that spawns the civilians with the enemy AI. by the way, batwing, the enemy AI is actually scripted to spawn only when BLUFOR units are within 500m of any given location, but not less than 50m from the spawn point. in english, they can spawn in any building in a red square within 500m of you, if it isn't within 50m of you.

     

    we think they simply replaced some of the hostile AI with civilian AI. as for vehicle traffic........we'll have to look at it.

  11. batwing, the sandbag script may be feasible. i'll have to look at that actually.

     

    peter, there is a way to add civilians. i have played an insurgency server with them. i'll unpbo that map sometime soon and see if i can transfer the civilians over. i'm going to warn you, though, that if its not something simple, its currently beyond our ability.

     

    i think the 110NV would be a reasonable replacement to the M24, just because this version of zargabad is DARK without NV lol. just to be clear though, we're not going to remove the total limit on sniper rifles. otherwise, everyone will snipe (notably public players not on TS) and nothing will ever get accomplished. also, we already have the M1014 shotgun on the list. we may add the AA-12 as well, but that thing is rather overpowered when you're unloading on human opfor. we'll experiment with it and see.

     

    as a last note here: if any of the experienced map makers (notably ones with knowledge of scripting) have a little time to spare, we'd appreciate the help. it would definitely speed this process up a bit. thanks!
