I am too Rookie to really express a comment on how Arma 2 shoudl work on stats, but my 2 cents are related to a generic concept.
Ii would love to have a game keeping track of Order accomplished.
A commander dispatch a squad to do something. Server keep track of that Squad accomplishment. Members will get 'points" because achieved an order as a Squad.
A wounded felllaw ask for a Medic and the medic revive him, Server keeps track.
A Squad Leader ask for a Pilot lift off or extraction and a Pilot respond, server keep track. This works for ground vehicles as well - Tank crew works as a Squad and achieve points achieving their objectives. CAS Pillots get points when answering calls for CAS.
Any "point" is achieved only as Squad achievement. You have to be part of a Squad and your Squad have to be dispatched to a specifiic objective. You have to follow your Squad Leader orders to achive the Squad results.
I do not know yet if Arma 2 allows this tracking system, but this would be cool.
This is the only basic concept of Stats I can think about.

I am a bit skeptiical about all of those programs claiming those kind of magical effects for gamers.
First of alll, programs like those one were created some time ago when our PC were cluttered with crap and poor resources. I saw HP and DELL pc in the past, with 2 GB ram or older, with 1 GB ram, out of the box with less than 15% Free memory just after start up, because loaded of crapware.
There, a program like that could have been useful. You have very limited resources and too much crap running in background.
If your PC is old generation and you have barely 2 GB ram, you may want to give a shot to a program designed to "try" to improve your performmances. Remember that Santa Clause does not exist....
Today PCs are running on 4GB, 6GB or more ram, huge hard disks and plenty of rooom for swap files. The last thing you need is some other crap running in background. Your PC already has all the resources you need to run 2 games at the same time, not only one.
Keep your PC simple and clean is usuually the best secret to have streamlined performances. If you check your Taskbar or your Hidden Icons on Win 7 and you see more than 5 icoons there, start asking yourself some questions.
If you check how much memory RAMm you are using at idlle and you see more than 25% (on Win 7, it could be a bit less on other systems and depends if you are running 32 or 64 bit), you have extra stuff you don t need.
Win 7 is optimized to not use more than 20 - 25% of your resources in idle, including antivir and malware protections. if you have more than thhat, your performance may be degraded and you need too get rid of stuff you do not need.

Unfortunately pinpointing a problem on a PC is not that simple. Due to to a majority of hardware differences each PC assume a sort of unique personality and behaviour. Today being a PC tech is almost like being a doctor and solutions are coming by a path of tests.
First of all Win 7 is a quite different OS, so do not assume what was working on Vista will work on 7. Also 7 has a very stroong internal troubleshooot system and is better trying to have 7 troubleshooting the problem itself before changing commands on the starting line, just assuming they will work.
Once again what is working foor me, doesn necessarely workks for you but u can follow this logical path:
BEFORE REINSTALLING THE GAME:
1) set your graphic card on a complete default settings - if you modified any setting on the NNvidia control panel, rever to full default
2) completely clean youre start path on the shortcut to a totally default one. No -wiinxp, cpucount and other crap, just let iit start plain and simple, no MODs at thhe beginning, full vanilla version
3) In game set FULL SCREEN, your 100% resolution, start with a "High" settings on graphic and "default" on video memory - Video memory is quite a controversial parameter, I had bad artifact on my game (black crap on screen), I turned video memoryy on "Very high" and graphic is now excellent
4) NOW RUN THE GAME and see what happens.
IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS and probably you will..
1) Right click on the shoortcut and click on Troubleshooting - The game is working with issues, so chooose the option that will say something like "this program do not install or RUN", then follow the compatibility option Wiin 7 will offer, you can choose between XP sp2 or 3, your choice. During this settings you will berequired to start the game before closing the troubleshooting window usiing a botton on it, go haead and do it, Win 7 need to test the ne config.
Play for a while and see what happens, if you are still haviing major issues,, shut the game and exit the troubleshoooting wiindow, because it cannot help more than that..
2) Stilll having artifacts or short crashes, here no one asked you if you are having crashes on any other intensive graphic application. Are you playing any other game? A game that push graphic very hard is GRAW 2, if you have it you could test it. OBJECTIVE would be to see how hot your GPU gets when stressed for 5 minutes at 100%. However, in my experience, when you have a problem on 1 GAME ONLY, that is not temperature but Video Driver issues. DO NOT ASSUME "LATEST DIVERS" MEANS BETTER DRIVERS.
Actually on my Win 7 config (64 bit) I have to run a 3 generation older driver from ATI to have PERFECT performances ( that means a 3 months old driver).
3) Solve all of your problems on the Vanilla version first. Do not use any other MOD. Now you can start modifying your shortcut line if you feel it may help. ONLY 1 MODIFICATION AT ONCE, take a note what u did modify and test, if it does not help either remove thhat addition (it didn t help, right?) or continue withh another one, but always one at once and check.

Completely unistall the game, clean registry entries (use CCleaner), then reinstall and restart from step 1 above

Just for your knowledge, my PC is running Win 7 64, I7 920 @ 3.6Ghz, 6 GB ram, 2x 4850 crossfire and my fresh install out of the box was perfectly working, expect bad artifacts, I changed Video memory to very High, perfect graphic and never crashed and that s it. I don t even need to run any Compatibility mode, it goes straiight to the game and works perfectly fine. My shortcut has no sppecial commands, not even the -nosplash

GoGamer CS is not existent at all. It is 1 week and a half now I am waiting for someone giving me an RMA number to send this crap back and have a refund.

Lol, my g/f is going to make me a gift with another copy of Arma 2 for xmas hehehe so I'll be up and running pretty soon
She decided to make me a gift with the TrackerIR 5 as well... so I am quite happy I have to wait a bit for that kind of full package I probably will ask her to buy the game straight by Bohemia, so at least i know who i have to call if i have problems

Video Card: Here is where you can be flexible. You can go one of two ways... A. Start with eVGA brand. They are great. Then you need to choose whether you want SLI or not, then go from there. I run an EVGA 9800 GTX+ 1GB card which they dont make anymore. My recommendation is to get a card that will do SLI, and has at least 1 GB of RAM. The RAM will help you in the long run. http://www.evga.com
SOUND CARD: Your choice but most MOBOs come with on board surround sound.
I do really like this config in general but the only point I have to desagree is the videocard choice.
Actually, also if you are looking for an Nvidia 260 or possibly 2 of them to go SLI, Newegg is having those cards for about $185 -$200 each. So you go SLI, which is a technology that sometimes fails, exactly like Crossfire. When i say "fails" i mean that occasionally you have incompatibilities with games full supporting the SLI or Crossfire technology.
If you buy 2 of them, you go to about $400 bucks, so my point is:
For that money, why don t you get a fantastic HD 5870 ? First of all is a fully DX 11 card, this you will enjoy in the next few months, second is 1 card only kicking the arse of those 2 260s and not having compatibil;ity issues whatsoever related to SLI or CF configs. Plus it comes with the new Eyefinity ATI system, driving up to 4 monitors on one card for hyper high resolution. If one day you'll decide to run 3 30" monitors for a full immersion game experience, this card does it and does it pretty well, check on youtube for the Eyfinity videos.
And a personal comment about SSDs. Still too much expensive and the performances do not justify them, exept for the fancy thing to have 'em on board.
Think instead a pair of pretty quick HD with some good cache, set them in RAID 0 and here you go, high performances for lower price and way larger storage capacity. To give you an idea of what I am saying look at this:

The SSD medic is suggesting is 60 GB fro about 200 bucks - Here you have WD 7200 rpm with 32MB cache quick drives, take 4 of these babies and put them all together in RAID 0 and you have 32MB cache *4 and 2 terabytes of high performances for $220 ... ahem.... It's quite self explanatory. However you can also find 10.000 RPM high performances drivers, you get 2 of 'em instead of 4 and you still pay way less than 200 bucks and way more storage than 60 GB.
I am running a config with a I7 920 OC at 3.6, 6 GB ddr3 and 2x HD 4850s CF and I am having great performances. Honestly i would not think a second to get a 5870 if i had 400 bucks to put on the table right now.

I was getting some system/graphics problems in game yesterday (Arma 2)
So it looks like you were having issues before the total lost of your video.
from what you are saying you tested your roomate videocard and is not working either. This let me think about a serious issue with your motherboard chipset controller.
First of all you should test your cards once at the time, on your roomate system. you don t really need to install drivers, you just need to see if it POST and is displaying something on screen, also basic resolution 800*600 would be anough to see that the card is working.
If is working, then your problem is on your motherboard and your cards are fine.
You said you were running a SLI, so you have 2 slots for videoccards. Try to install your roomate card (the one known as "working") not on the primary PCI-x slot but on the secondary one and see what s going on.
However, if your cards are working on the roomate rig and not on yours, your Chipset is failing. The Northbridge, which is taking care of the video data lanes is the culprit 99% and the only solution is replacing the motherboard.

Quick update:
I am giving up.
GoGamer provided me a new key and guess what? It was disabled as well ! I don t know what s wrong with that store, but they really are making bad business.
On the other side I have to say Tech Support from Bohemia has been at least nice enough to explain me that legally they cannot give me another key, because legally Keys are belonging to the vendor providing the software, so the only path to go has 2 solutions:
1- either GoGamer provides a working key - which looks like is not gonna happen, because they have only disabled keys...
2 - return the game for a refund and buy somewhere else.
BI Tech Support also suggested me the option to buy the game directly from their distribution from http://www.sprocketidea.com/joomla/ then BI is directly responsible for tech support, keys and whatever comes with.
So, final verdict, if GoGamer gives me the option to return and re-fund I'll get my money back, otherwise I'd lost my 40 bucks and I'll buy a copy from BI trusted site.
Oh well, thinking all of this is for a game, which should provide happiness and joy, so far it gaves me only headache
At least I've lernt something: stick with trusted providers you know also if it costs a bit more.

However it looks like I am ground zero again... After i sent my key to the BI tech support, the guy replied to me and said "That key is invalid, you should contact Gogamer asking for a new one"
Duh !!!!
I sent another reply and CC Prazek, explaining for the n time that Gogamer is not reacting friendly. They are giving me hard time to have another key and BI should take ownership of the problem being the producer and being the one who has power to enable or disable a key.
I just feel like they are bouncing me here and there and each one is not assuming their own responsabilities.
It is the first time I m having an issue like this and it sounds so frekking unbelievable! I am not even the only one having this problem.. it is just incredible how no one gives a shit to solve a problem, which is potentially an eaasy solution... GIVE ME A FREKKING NEW KEY AND EVERYONE IS HAPPY!
lol.. and this is all about a "game" which is something created to deliver "good time and happiness while playing" !!! lololol..

Ok guys,
So yesterday i sent an email to BI PR Manager Jan Prazek, it was a solid mail with some light "legalese".
Just this morning i got a reply from Mr. Prazek apologizing for the situation. And he escalated to an internal tech support in BI.
At the same time i got an email from the BI tech support rep. who is taking care of my case and I sent him the Key to evaluate what the issues is.
I would say at least BI is moving in a very nice direction.
I n meanwhile yesterday I had a phone conversation with a supervisor at Gogamer CS who requuested for me to scan my Key to show it and start a procedure to 'possibly" get another key.
Hiis argumenntation was quite ridicoulous. He continued to insist something is related to Pirate key generators and also if he provides me withh another key, i have no certanty it will work.
Lol. I told him if he really believes in what is saying, they should shut down the sales of Arma 2 right now, because tomorrow, based on those BSs, he will have 5000 upset customers unable to play the game !!
However, one way or another i m going to the right direction. Just remember.. use always your solid experience. honestly i decided to go via Gogamer instead neweggg.com ( where I bought everything I have), because the first had a deal 10 bucks cheaper..
So, you know whhat, buying at Newegg for 10 bucks more, i was playing with u right now... lol.. evvery day I have to learn a new lesson

This is gonna be a very uncomfy situation, because Gogamer did not even replied to my complain and BI is trying to wash their hands of this problem.
I am very disappointed, is the first time something like this is happening to me and i already feel the solution like buying another copy and forget about my first 45 bucks....
However if BI denied their support to me, I would invite the community to "learn" at least from someone else bad experience, how they freely screwd us.

I bought a RETAIL Box !! tthis is what really piss me off !! I got the box mailed and it toook a few days.
I have all my stuff, it came NICE AND SEALED, I have thhe manuale and at the back of the manual thhe frikking code!!!
This is just a fraud from the selller, because they never advertised this "could" be a returned game. They sell it for new and it get delivered as new, but obviously has been, uused, activated and returned and re-sold.
If i was in Italy, Ii come from a lawyer family and I would know how to intimidate these assholes to get my money back right away. Here unfortunately, I have to hope they will answer my mail first of all.

I am using Win 7 Ultimate 64 and i just installed Arma2. everything went nice and smooth.
I have a problem with the CD key, bought an hacked game (unbelievable), anyway single player is working perfect. never crashed.
I am running on an i7 920 @ 3.5 ghz, 2 hd 4850 crossfire and 6 GB ram ddr3.
I had a graphic issue when installed, blocky artifact and bad graphic in game, but that has been solved setting "video memory" on very high on the Video setting - Advanced.
Now is running perfect on qualityy at max level and 1920*1080.
Durka, if you wanna give me more info about what config you have and what video card u use I may help. As you can see I am using ATI, so if you are on Nvidia, maybe i cannot help too much but as a basic suggestion, i can tell you Win 7 is quite picky with video drivers.
Actually ATI drivers are out wiith vers. 9.10 or 11, but i have to stay on 9.8 for some reason. Any other most recent driver gives me very bad issues, while the 9.8 just work perfect.
I don t know too much about Nvidia, but do not assuume that the most recent driver necessarely is the perfect one. Your problem really sounds like video driver one. It could be temperature issue too on the GPU, but i assume u checked ure temps.

So, I took a quick glance to those packages, there are some "read-me" but only some. So QUESTION (for the rookie level):
- WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE TO INSTALL ADD-ONS?
- Are these Add-ons "required" or "optional" to play on your servers?
- Is my understanding everytime you want to use an add-on, you have to modify the shortcut to load the correct add-on, but I do believe you can run more than one "mod" at the same time, so what is the syntax for the new shortcut to use more MODs in once?
- Do I have to make a single shortcut to launch Arma2 valid for all of your servers, with all the MODs applied, ordi I have to make a separate shortcut depending on the server I want to join ?
Last question, not really related to Add-ons:
- I would like to try to Master the chopper piloting (interesting challenge), is it possible use a joystick to fly the chopper and bind throttle keys to the throttle axis on the Joy, as well for commands like "auto-hover" to be bind on a joy botton? ( I just have to dig on the config a lil more, but if you can just let me know I can do it, that would be appreciated).

I just installed Home Premium 7 x64 yesterday up from XP, and I installed the essential programs today (ARMA2 and TS was among them, of course).
What settings do I want to manipulate to optimize this thing? I'm still finding my way around the flashy OS.

I set my Nvidia physx off, force vsync off, and max prerendered frames to 8 for Arma2
I use alpinestars launcher, which adds various commandline param's as needed. I take it, with win-7, I don't need to use the winxp param anymore.

Unfortunately I use ATI, not Nvidia, so I am not really familiar with the programs you are talking about, but my suggestion in general, and this is not only valid for Win 7 but for any OS in general, try to not install too many programs handling graphic or performances in background, although really necessary, because most of the time they can interfere or overlap with other functions, creating preformance degrade, instead to help.
Win 7 is a very streamlined OS and is usually able to optimize your machine by itself, without too many extra needs.
In order to have the best graphic performance I would just suggest you to be sure to have the most recent drivers for your card (I do believe you could keep the Physix on..) and if needed tweak your card using your videocard software control.
I cannot yet help too much about Arma 2 configs in win 7 because i got the game yesterday and didn t istall it yet (I m not home).
Maybe I'll have to ask to more experienced players on Arma2 if I run in any problem
However, try to keep your System as much as clean of craplets and install tweaker only if really needed.

On Win 7 I used free AVG, free Avira and now I have MS security essential and is working very well

I have FC 1.12 installed and working at the moment. Probably I'll get this new update.
If someone wants to fly sometimes let me know. It is important to install Hyperlobby to find servers online to fly with other ppl.
I have it perfectly working on Win 7, but at the beginning theere were issues due to the Starforce protection and wrong drivers under Win 7, so if u have any issue, let me know and I 'll tell you how to fix it
