  1. Are all pilots M.I.A. or K.I.A.?

I'm almost settled (really underestimated the move this time) and flew a couple of minutes in the weekend.

I'm looking for rudder pedals (like Saitek has).

Since they are too expensive here (arnd ?120-150), can someone look around to see if you can find them cheaper (even 2nd hand is ok for me).

Then we can arrenge to have them sent over to Belgium.

    Thanks in advance.

Oh, and when will anyone be able to fly again?

  2. Hey all,

Now with my new shining monitor and a new graphics card, what settings should I use and what are the settings you guys use?

Want to improve the video without lag.

    24" monitor

    Asus E4870 (I believe)

    2 gb ram

E8400 (dual core at 3 GHz)

    Thanks !!

  3. thanks all for the comments.

I went for the 245B+ and will be able to test it this weekend only (CRAP :P) because of the move.

Will let you know what I think of it.

Took a pixel warranty (only 2 weeks) sothat even 1 dead/lazy pixel would allow me to return it and get a brand new one instantly.

About dead/lazy pixels, you have it from the beginning, or not at all right? It's not that yr monitor works fine for a couple of weeks/months and then a pixel like that can appear?

  4. Man, you get around! Good luck with the move bud!

Lol, if you think about it, yes I move a lot !

I'll probably move again next November since my daughter will start going to school then. I chose one of the best ones, close to my (initial) home-town, that's why.

  5. excellent, many thanks for the replies.

Since the Samsung 245B is ? 319, I may go for that one.

Still going to look up reviews and all and will let you guys know.

Zeno, do you experience any "ghosting" or lag somehow?

Response time for this monitor is 5 ms vs 2ms for all the 22" from Samsung, that's why the question.

  6. 22" or 24" ?

Who has what and why? Thanks for your input guys!

I have my eyes on one of the Samsung 22" monitors but am considering to buy 24".

Samsung has most 22" with a response time of 2 ms (vs 5ms from other manufacturors and bigger monitors), does that really make a (significant) difference?

    Inimigo out.

  7. Hey guys,

Am in the middle of my move to Antwerp (again) sothat we'll have a better school for my daughter, Rafaela and I'll be closer to work.

Hope to be all installed by next weekend (they'll install internet this Friday as well).

Meanwhile looking to buy a new graphics card (posted in the hardware forum) and a new monitor.

    See you all then.

Will be monitoring the site from work.

    GREETINGS !!!

  8. Hey guys,

wanting to upgrade my 8800 GTS 320 here.

Budget is around 250 euros and I'm doubting between the following 2 cards:

    Asus ATI EN4870 512MB (HDTV,2xDVI,HDMI,PCIe) for 250 euros

    and

Asus nVidia GeForce 9800GTX/HTDP 512MB for 275 euros

(or, if really making a BIGGGG difference: Asus ENGTX260 (HTDP/896M DDR3,HDTV,2xDVI-I,HDMI,PCIe) for 300 euros)

Side note: I only have a 500W power supply and want to avoid to change it (cause it would cost me another 100 euros for a more powerfull one).

    Glad to hear.

edit: this is what I have now:

    Antec Sonata III (500 W)

    P5K-VM + E8400 processor

    1xsata 160GB harddisk + 1xsata 700GB harddisk

    2xdvd writers

    2 GB RAM

    8800 GTS 320

  9. Jeesh, the jokes I read in here ... during my lunch break ... make me laugh so hard.

colleagues asking "what's going on, Michael?"

and I can't explain, takes minutes to evey copy/paste the message and send it here internally.

    great one

(had the same with the stoned koala in the tree, was it? and some drunk asleep in the snow trying to race away while the trooper prenteded to run aside the car ....)

    GREAT STUFF !!

  10. enjoyed playing last night ... until 1 am though which my better half didn't appreciate too much, but worth it :P

I still have and am using the key Krambo gave me more than 1 year ago (for which once more my thanks, 'cause I really dislike Hamachi).

What I dislike most about ARMA is that cover isn't really cover, enemies can see through all and all of them are superb snipers.

I'll try to be on weeknight days.

Great games, great ping (finally, 'cause in Brazil it sucked big time).

Have Queens Gambit downloaded and ready for installation if all the rest is.

  11. Best chefs, you mean in the cooking way? Rolfmao, we have 3 chefs that do television shows too, that are mor fun than Gordon Ramsey and the guy with that split between his front teeth, I can't recal (Jamie Oliver) his name....lol

Ah well Every country has its charms, I like the Full English Breakfast, and the meat loafs they serve in Cornwall near the Tin mines (heavy on Salt, with a good pint of proper Beer)

In France I like the croissants, and in Sweden I like the Girls, In Italy I like the Olives.... And in Belgium I like to make jokes about Belgians, And the German Beer is superior to all things on earth...

About that in bold, it's ok, you're Dutch: enough said :-) - About the Underlined text, Are you sure you've been to Belgium? We have over 650 different kinds of beer, and you only by the taste of a few already -properly (;-))- you'll revise your statement, I'm sure.

Yep, I'm Belgian, but part of my heart still lies in Brazil.

    As for the article:

-The French: wouldn't call them arrogant but "chauvinistic" (if that word exists in English :P). What you have with the French too is that they will refuse to talk another language than French. Not that bad if you think about it, EXCEPT that they do the same in YOUR country ! (Actually, Belgium has 3 official languages, so everyone speaks French as well. But I can imagine in Holland that things may be more complicated ...)

-The Italians: nothing I could confirm of what is stated in the article. Only thing I hated most about Italy (from my few visits) were EVERY SINGLE PIZZA TASTED LIKE CRAP (in my humble opinion)

-The Germans: NO European (educated that is) would EVER mention WWII in a teasing/mocking way towards a German.

In general, Europeans would never cheer for Germany in a World Cup ... Reasons only Europeans know ;-)

I personally find Germans extremely funny and strangly enough a lot indeed lack some humor.

    - The Scandinavians: Can't really confirm/deny anything here. I work for a major Danish company and they're "too correct" if you know what I mean.

    - The Elite Belgians: Title says enough :-) ... One thing I would like to say: We love to joke (in a friendly manner) with the Dutch and there has been and always will be a sort of competition in about everything you can imagine. Though (and I believe this goes both ways) we'll always cheer for eachother in competitions when one or the other is out of that competition.

Can see the list goes on, but no time here to finish my side today. So maybe already too boring, but that's it for today !

    BELGIUM !!!

  12. Yes, Athlon saw 164 FPS ... His monitor showed him in the corner of the monitor the digits/numbers from his reported FPS from the console command.

However his eyes never saw ANY difference from the picture displayed upon the screen above the rate of 56 FPS.

(With perfect 10/10 eyesight this is the maximum distinguishable amount the eye can comprehend)

His monitor was not able to display any frame rate increase upon the screen above 75 FPS.

(This figure is a TOP end LCD's maximum rate, most only do 65. Only a Sony G520 CRT can top that at 120, Normal cheaper Crt's fall back to a max of 75-85)

Forgive my ignorance, but are you saying that -as a (mortal) human being- you will not (regardless the monotor, graphics card, application/game) see any difference as from 56 FPS on your screen?

If that's so, on what basis do you need to choose your monitor?

  13. Hey all,

Lack of time doesn't allow me to go online after business hours and have diagonally read this thread.

I have (2 now) X-45 (Saitek), took my old one back from my little trip in Brazil. I just love it. Main reason for not buying a X-52 (Pro) is -besides the ridiculous expensive price- is that the RUDDER can't be operated anymore from the tnrottle (which IS possible on the X-45). Even today, you can still buy -in excellent condition- 2nd hand ones for around US$ 30-40 which is a reasonable price.

HAWX, I believe I said it before somewhere: definitely arcade if you ask me.

the BEST flight sim (action and realism) is still IL2 (1946), but it is for those who enjoy WWII planes (95 % prop-fighters).
