Nice setup Viiiper

Anymore ideas on this? I know I haven't been around a lot lately and may have missed some stuff on this issue, but I would love to help get this set up, even if it just for an initial test run.

It wont work becaise the GTS 512 is a completely different core then the GTS 320. All they share is the name.

Think of DX11 as a polished version of dx10. Its not a huge change but more of a step in the right direction fixing a lot of problems and adding efficiency.
Think of Windows Vista to Windows 7. Lots of optimization to go around.
I'll find a link that gives more detail tomorrow if no one beats me to it.

You're looking at September for DX11 cards from ATI and December for Nvidia's offering

Would love to see this happen. I'd be willing to help anyway I can.

Its amazing how much more epic things are in slow motion.
Nice post X.

Installed and gave the demo a brief spin. After finishing, it gave me the exact opposite feeling it was supposed to. This demo made me not want to buy the game. The bloom was ridiculous, the motion blur was excessive and all in all it just felt like it handled poorly. I know there are fixes for the first two in the full game, but I was just underwhelmed on how it played in general.
At the moment, the game is a wait, then buy in my book unless you all have good news on how the full version plays.

Thanks Zebb

If OFP:DR finds a way to fix the AI seeing through vegetation in a respectable way, in both performance and gameplay, I'll be pleasantly surprised. Until someone tells me otherwise, I'm expecting the same kind of problems in DR as ARMA 2 has. These games are too similar to think that one game will get it close to completely right while the other is full of bugs.

Halli's right in saying that you should be looking at cards with 1GB or so of memory at the moment. Since the price of 512MB and 1GB are so close, its worth it to get something with more memory. Games are becoming more demanding in terms of memory, so its better to be prepared if thats an option.
In the $130-$150 range, you're looking at an ATI 4850 or an NVIDIA GTS 250. The NVIDIA is based on the same core as Medic's card (G92b), so its based on older tech, but there are a few improvements under the hood that let it keep up with newer cards. The 4850 and 250 run pretty much on par, with my favourite review site putting the 250 to the top ever so slightly.
That being said, if you want to forgo the recommendation for more video memory, the ATI 4770 is by far the best card you can get. For less then 100 dollars, you'll get a fantastic card that is on par with the above two. Its the first core to be made on a 40nm process, so it draws less power if thats a concern and will also overclock a ton if you need that extra bit of performance. This would probably be my choice if you can get your hands on one, because they are pretty hard to come by due to popularity.
In the $175 category, you have the GTX 260 Core 216 and the 4870. Not going to go into these much, but my preference would go to the 4870 from ATI.
Above $200, the best option in performance per dollar is the 4890, which is ATI's latest offering. This card truly is a monster for its price.
If you want some more help doing a bit of research, let me know and I'll be happy to help you look.

When thinking of price, think really expensive and then go higher. They are only making 1000, so its going to be very hard to find.

Check to see if your ACE mod is at version 1.09. The servers just got updated to this version so if you got setup before then, you might be back at 1.07 or 1.08.

Since people are throwing out recommendations, I'll throw in one for the Coolermaster 690. I have one and absolutely love it. Its a mid tower, so not too big but more then enough room for good airflow in the case. Its made of aluminum and its completely tool less, so no need to worry about screwdrivers and such. Top mounted PSU and a couple of included fans in the important spots for airflow.
That and its cheap in comparison to most cases with similar features.

Honestly I am not exactly sure when the final version will be out, but i suspect we will have a fairly robust public Beta time. It may take us a while to get things the way we want, but you should be able to be playing it in some form sometime this year.
Blackfoot Studios founder Jsonedecker's opinion on when a public beta would hit for Sky Gods (Link here)

Played the demo on 360, not impressed at all.

His right foot definitely was in. NBC showed a replay from another angle that 100% confirmed he did drag it.
I was rooting for the Cards and I thought they had it near the end there. Larry Fitzgerald's as MVP would have been a good finish to Arizona's run.

I think the 7000 build is the same so that if you don't enter a key, it gives you a 30 day free trial period, I could be wrong though.

A.C.E. Mod
in ARMA I
Interesting bug at ref 101060 - a fighter flew above my head and straight into the mountainside above me before cascading down towards me in flames - I moved pretty sharpish. There were the carcasses of a few Heli's there too (and indeed I heard another one crash a few mins later in same spot but had no visual) suggesting either an AI bug or some kamikaze training squadron.Flying a heli when I toggled to Map my speed dropped to zero - don't know if this is accident or design.
Helis seem to crash into trees or mountains at random, even before the ACE mod was around. It affects choppers and planes, causing them to lose control of the aircraft and crash into the ground, forest or mountains. It looks random, like the pilots are losing control, and not necessarily a script error. It happens a little too often though.
As for the losing speed in the map view, it is probably because you lose control of your helicopter when you're in the map, but the throttle stays the same. So if you stay in the map long enough, you'll lose all of your horizontal speed and will just be moving up.

Happy New Year folks

Any specific cars or tracks that we should be preparing for?

A.C.E. Mod
in ARMA I
I think Zebb's error is due to the fact that he was using the ACE mod client side, while the server was not. Somewhere in the ACE forums, the devs say that ACE is not intended to be a client side only mod, and that it needs to run on a server that is also running the same version of ACE.
Direct quote from one of the Developers
ACE was developed only for use in a uniform MP environment - ie client and server both MUST have ACE installed, and all pbo's should be of the same version. Otherwise the behaviour is unpredictable and might well cause a huge flow of errors and general instability/crashes. It is highly inadvisable to either connect with ACE to non-ACE servers or connect to ACE servers without ACE activated. So it looks like if your going to be playing on Server 2, you're going to need to use another set of mods

I believe that list should be Punisher~SPARTA~, aka Gunny, seeing our little communications mix up
All in all, it was a good run through with only a couple hiccups here and there. Look forward to more tac missions.
