MedicSN6
The advantages of using different texture packs for different tasks in the game are numerous. Most texture packs are obviously designed to enhance the 'pretty factor' of the game. I would argue that most of the packs, especially the more realistic in color schemes and color combinations, tend to make it difficult to identify the material blocks were looking for. For example, the John Smith v5 makes it extremely difficult to deep mine because the colors are so similar, whereas the Painterly Pack has great contrast and the material blocks pop. My suggestion is to find a texture pack to fit the task at hand. If you can't find one that you like, it is easy enough to make your own in Photoshop or Paint.
