  1. Tours in Buckingham Palace start on 23 July, you can stand outside and marvel at the building - would suggest that a bus tour might be the best bet to see everything "in-passing" and get some photos for the family.

     

    Windsor is some way out - but the Tower of London is in easy reach and has the "key" ceremony daily. The V&A, Science and Natural History Museums are all in the same area of Kensington - you could do Harrods as well on the same day.

     

    As Zeno says, Trafalgar Sq, Whitehall, Downing Street, Horseguards and The Houses of Parliment are all within walking distance of each other and you can pick up an MP3 that will tour the area at your own pace and provide the history.

    Imperial War Museum is worth a visit and is fairly central.

     

    Within spitting distance of Canary Wharf, I have checked Excel - there is only a Health and Safety conference on and the O2 Arena has the British Music Experience. Do you know where you are staying - are you in the east?
