Androids Apps - Sharing HERE

Recently chatting with Vii came out the idea to share the best Android Apps.

I remember this subject has been touched in the past I would swear there was another thread sharing a few nice apps. I can t find it whatsoever.

If you find that thread, please link it here. I thought a clear thread title like this thread, would simplify a search considering the poor search engine on this forum.

Please add your favorite Apps here, so we can create a sort of Sparta collection :)

I will start with a less than serious App.

AR Drone control ! This is the App but am pretty sure the Drone will be under my Xmas tree at the next chance ;)

(once again SGS 2 rulez as a phone of choice for the demo video)

This is one I've just discovered, TeamViewer. It's a free remote desktop app that let's you connect to and take over any PC, laptop, tablet anywhere in the world.

The Target has to have installed the software to get an access code but it's easy & slick to use. Will be perfect for me to fix issues my kids have when they are back at home.

From another Thread.. Vii post:

'TuneIn Radio' is a great app & the PRO version is worth the $1, Sleep timer, alarm, etc.

'Smart Measure' is very clever and can measure distance using your camera & phone angle it is limited like a real tape measure.

'Audalyzer' is free and measures sound levels, great app, inc. peak levels.

'Panecal Scientific' is a great free scientific calculator.

'Resize lite' a free photo/ picture resize, removing the annoyance of emailing photos @ over 3000 x 2000 px 6Mb

'Allrecipies' is free but pro is better, can't decide on food, let it help, it's very slick

'MX Video player' Is my favourite video player, pro is great.

'AroundMe' everything you need to find, hospitals, restaurants, cinemas, drinking houses.

Let s try to keep it on this new thread, at least we might creat a sort of repository :)

Does Teamviewer have an Android version? That would be awesome if they did. Link?

On another note, I was thinking about writing a simple app that told you how many Gs your phone feels as you throw it against a brick wall or the concrete sidewalk. It will be a kind of game where you have to try and beat your previous score. There will be online, real-time score boards . It will be free when finished. I can't decide on a name though. Maybe 'Phone Smash' or 'What's My Insurance Copay?' Maybe you guys can pick one for me.

Sharing a new nice find: Rockplayer Lite

http://www.gadgeteasy.com/playing-matroska-video-files-on-android-using-rockplayer/

I have several movies MKV encoded and some other AVI conteiners Dvix encoded, rhis player is the only one I found able to play whatever I throw at it.

Vii, this may replace your favorite player.

Another app I liked is Smart Compass, from the same of Smart Measure.

I have just purchased the Galaxy S2, I of course wanted to sync my phone to Microsoft Outlook, I have no intention of adding all my contacts to my Gmail account. So after a bit of research I found the MyPhoneExplorer app

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fjsoft.myphoneexplorer.client&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5manNvZnQubXlwaG9uZWV4cGxvcmVyLmNsaWVudCJd

You need this for the PC end

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/downloads.php

as well as Samsung Kies (you need this for the driver

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/android/GT-I9100LKAXEU-supportforward

This app allows automatic synchronisation between the S2 and outlook.

Hope this is useful

Nice stuff :)

However, depending what is your Email provider, consider you could migrate all of your contact info online to your Email provider IF they offer the Microsoft Exchange server option.

MS Exchange server Sync allows to connect devices to the online server without having a local client, such us Outlook, downloading data.

Major benefit of this is your contacts and email data are stored online, accessible anytime, anywhere.

Major benefit is also you will never suffera loss of data and you don t need contacts backups anymore.

Major benefit is any device will get your contact list automatically.

Major benefit is you can still configure MS Outlook for the Exchange server, but it will not compromise the online sharing.

Major benefit you can sync Mails, Contact and Calendar seameless

A flaw of using mailing Clients as MS Outlook without Exchange configuration is that the Client will collect data centrilizing them to your local machine. In simple words, your Client will check your online Mail server, will download the new content and your mails will be local on your PC.

You will not be able to access any of them remotely because they will not be on your online server anymore.

Major flaw is that requires a manual Syncing with your machine daily or weekly or whatever to have data on your mobile device

Major flaw is that if your local PC crashes (besides having backups done) your email and contact data will be lost.

You do not need to be on GMAIL to have that service. Your email provider has to allow the MS Exchange configuration.

As example, i do not use GMAIL but I have all of my data on Hotmail. Hotmail allows Exchange, therefore all of my contacts, mail, calendar are synced directly to my GS2 without passing by my PC :)
