So I think we went overboard

This is why I didn't make the races Sunday. Was building "The Chair".

Thought a few of you would dig this:

Screen:

HD Projected (1080p and 720p) on 8ft across screen (not diag.)

Base:

Seat is from a 2007 Honda S2000 <---forgot to mention this.

Unknown old school Arcade race game platform with a "Buttkicker" sub

Can you believe this was free? Platform was on its way to dumpster when we found it.

It was sitting in the back of a "popular pizza place that features a cheesy mouse".

The base does move side to side but is caused from rocking side to side from tugging on the wheel.

We figured this was enough to simulate moving with the game.

You can adjust the springs on both sides to get that "loose" feeling or no movement at all.

Basically your movement is what moves the platform.

Steering wheel:

Fanatec GT3 RS with upgraded "ClubSport" pedals.

More on the pedals alone:

**Special note on this:

A bit of background on the pedals.

If you haven't noticed, they are flipped upside down, but not reversed ;).

We disassembled the pedals and flipped them around (if you watched video you would see its easy).

We then mounted them upside down. This gives another level of realism I feel.

I dunno about you but most cars seem to have their pedals hanging anyhow and the way the pedal mashes in, it feels a tit more real.

Conclusion:

Flipping awesome.

Good times in Shift (PC) and GT5: Prologue (PS3)

Disclaimer, not my setup, but did help in the build and design.

This is actually my best friend's (known him since my days in the Army 94-97) and he's been wanting to do this for a long time.

He expects to be doing hot-laps of the Austin F1 Track by December he jokes, lol. (Sure I'll get right on that.....actually I am..haha)

He's got GT5 fever mostly (Full complete version of course) and looking madly forward to this. We had some good times in GT5 Prologue though and tested well. Minor tiny adjustments are still in order as with a few aesthetics. Overall, its fun.

And no his wife doesn't like it of course as its not another $500 purse she's been craving...but they are getting divorced anyhow so it doesn't matter (not related to this in case you were wondering...but that gets into some personal matters).

He jokes that at least it wasn't another $500 purse.

I hear ya brother man, I hear ya.
