Candy Cane Flavored Lollipops for everyone at Noon Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

So I think its pretty across the board that this game is great. However, there is one obvious aspect that is lacking. It reallllyyyy sucks when we are all trying to play together that we do not have a server to call home.

Now, I am not opposed to giving it a little more time to make sure that people are actually going to play this game for more than a month. But, I think the interest is there.

So, I propose that if you're playing this game, that we open up a paypal channel to put donations directly towards a BF2 server. I understand that not everyone can do this, but maybe we could set up admin rights for people that donate and make them able to call the shots on the server.

I know this idea has been tossed around but lets make this an actual topic. Please post below if you are interested in donating and/or researching the cost for hosting a decent server.

I'm in for at least 100 bucks towards a server.

Motion noted and we are in discussions about this also get with Fatal_Paper cut on TS and talk to him as he is intressed(sp) about a server.

I still want Moderators and Admins to do the Moderating of course the host would be a part of this, so we do not get anarchy.

The EU release is today and they need time to experience the game.

As Halli mentioned, I am definitely in on this, we just need to coordinate the HOW, WHERE, etc. I have a chunk of cash burning a hole in my pocket ready to help us get a BC2 server up and running.

I highly recommend GameServers.com. I've used them for BF2142/UT3/TF2/L4D1&2, never had any problems with them, I think they are a very reliable company.

** EDIT ** The month-to-month price for a 32-player server is $39.99 USD, with increasing discounts given for 3/6/12 month commitments.

Just keep in mind everyone - Administrators make the final call on servers that have the name ~Sparta~ in them. Any gaming group would do this to keep central control of the name.

The Gerousia have not met to come up with their final gameplan, and may have something up their sleeve so never underestimate.

Please, please, please rename this topic, I don't know how much longer I can contain myself when I read "I make a motion". Sounds like a bad euro scat porn film

Double LOL! I was "suckered" into jumping straight to this "new" topic. And while on the topic, I have to agree with the comment someone above made that administration of a BC2 server is going to be more of a chore, simply because the game is going to draw more of the Undesirables that tend to avoid a game like Arma in the first place.

Another issue that has yet to be resolved with the game is PunkBuster. Apparently, PB is one of the key ingredients in the problems that servers/players are having with connections. My completely unscientific studies have shown that I have very few problems connecting to a server that is NOT running PB, whereas PB-enabled servers seem to not want to let me play (although I have been able to do so for limited amounts of time on rare occasions). I don't know if SPARTA ever used PB when running CoD servers, but there seems to be divided opinion about whether or not PB actually provides a reliable service. It does, however, catch a few people who use known, widespread hacks and prevents them from connecting. Just one more thing to look into and be aware of if planning to run a BC2 server.
