I'll be starting around 2100 EST, perhaps earlier if my errands go well. I'll also be on all day Wednesday, minus a nap and some food breaks here and there. My soldier name, as usual, will be Fatal_Papercut, so add me to your buddy list! P.S. I'm also looking into getting a server here in the US, probably Dallas or Seattle. I've been doing some research here at work to pass the time*, and as of yet there is no fully working admin tool available for BFBC2 servers, something that is all but essential for proper administration since ranked servers are hosted by EA partner datacenters. After checking a few sites, however, it seems that DICE is content to release the RCON specs and allow pretty much anyone to write their own RCON tool(s), and at least two sites are close to having their own releases. A key issue will probably be whether or not a Ranked Server Provider allows/supports a particular tool, since some RCON tools require server-side add-ons. This was the case with both BF2 and BF2142, and in both cases a single user-made tool was developed that handled both games, and it worked great (BF2cc); it's what we used to admin our own BF2142 server. It was so well made that it became the standard on most (if not all) hosting partners. Hopefully, we'll see such a tool finished and working quickly, and hopefully DICE will keep people posted when they make patches so that RCON tool developers can make fixes, if necessary. And be certain that a hosting partner allow/supports one of these tools! I would advise against starting up a server until there is a well-established and working RCON tool, unless you don't mind people coming into the server and being asshats without any recourse to resolve the situation. * This research involved avoiding anything resembling work and avoiding anyone with an inquisitive look on their face. We need to step up and help as the Main Group pays $4000.00usd per annum so it may not be in it's budget but we can get a SPARTA BFBC2 server if we work together. Was in a game, lost connection, have been getting "Can't connect to EA server" error for a couple of hours. I have no idea if it's just me or a system-wide outage. Since I still can't connect to EA's servers, I thought I'd give the single-player campaign a try. But while loading the third mission, the game crashes to desktop every time. I've tried reinstalling, same problem. So, I figured, since I'm just barely into the game, I started over. Same problem, same crash, same spot. Sigh. If your butt is not 2" from the server then you are nothing more then a moveing target. I speak the truth and the truth hurts. Reasion being the when you connect to a server, you are actually connecting to 3 servers. 1 stat server 2 punkbuster 3 the game server and then its all lugged down to the point it won't play well. They should stay with sports games. Out of the series I liked 2142 and crysis the best. All my EA game are still for sale. Call me when a good game comes out. LOL!
