Vancouver 2010 Chat

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, Vancouver 2010 is almost here, so I thought i'd start up a thread. Are there any special athletes you are watching? One of our snowboarders just had a pretty bad accident, and almost died when he hit his head on the halfpipe. I'm just now getting my info on our athletes, trying to find out which sports to pay close attention to. I'm looking forward to the Skeleton and the Cross-Country Skiing.

Also, I just found out one of my wife's friends just made Latvia's Olympic Hockey team as one of their goalies.

Anyone got good links from your own country's coverage? NBC is nice, but their coverage hardly extends beyond the States' athletes.

For some reason the curling always fastinates me, and the scots are always really good at it.

I just read that Curling was invented in Scotland, and the stones that they "throw" are all made from a special quarry somewhere up there. It's gotta be a special stone, and very expensive. I got that Wii Winter Olympics game and am currently having a lot of fun Curling, except it doesn't have the intense yelling back and forth lol.

That Jamica story is funny, but consider the times. Latvia's bobsleigh team has been living off of boiled potatos, rice, & "Latvian food" because the gov't can't afford it. Plus, their female speed skater is asking for help as well. Here in the US, they don't know how good they have it.

Durka, with the nintendo Wii do you get to sweep the stone, or does your wife provide a broom special like, - this is a win win, she could get the housework done and you get to play LOL

lol, no unfortunatly there's no broom attachment that's been made yet, although I could duct tape the remote to the vacum. Right now, though, is just the yelling. Speaking of, I'm feeling the itch to play a little today, given that it's snowing :)

Looks like Danny Davis has quite literally been "knocked out" of the Olympics

Just goes to show that if you wanna be the best at anything, you can't afford to take your eye off the ball even for a second.

lol, in other news, IOC Reccommends Gender Test Centers

Looks like Latvia may have a good chance at a medal this year in the Skeleton with Martins Dukurs. <<<Hopin' & Prayin' they get a win, they need it.

Check this out. He flips his sled and still gets 3rd place in that round, 2nd overall!

One of America's Skeleton runners, Zach Lund, will be coming back this year after he was unfairly banned from Torino for doping, after they found a chemical in his body that is used for hair growth.

In other news, did you Canuks know you'll have a BLIND skier on your team this year? Pretty frikkin amazing, if you ask me.

Seriously? How in the world did you get them? I've seen them selling on ebay and the official site. I think I'll stay at home and watch :)

double post? :(

but got news on my tickets, we got $4,000 dollars Canadian for all the tickets we had.

the hockey game tickets we had were selling like $400 a ticket, and the aerials around $200, crazy high prices.
